How Do I Love Thee
Monday, June 16th, 2008I love Mondays. I know that is counter-culture, but alas I was meant to be different from the rest. Mondays are quiet, peaceful days. The craziness of the weekend behind me, I clean (a lot), reorganize our lives and fall back into familiar routines.
Weekends, although fabulous, are always full of craziness, rushing and activity. Becca went to her last soccer “game” this Saturday. She has come so far with the process and the coaches were totally amazing. We then headed to a local Asian store to pick up some goodies.
J & I prepared some delicious California Rolls, and other Japanese cuisine in honour of Father’s Day. We also picked up some crunchies and candy for the kids to try (note I do not know all the names and therefore being all vague). Becca gobbled up the Japanese cuisine (for the first time, previously turning her nose up at anything wrapped in seaweed!) She is totally growing up.
We also scored a second hand bike for Becca this weekend! It is a bit rusty & not totally what we wanted, but we girly’d it up and Becca is in love. My friend also scored us a dresser! We have a dresser!!! w00t! Sunday was dedicated to Becca’s bike, but seeing the joy on her face was so so worth it. I was happy not to have to buy a new bike (they are crazy expensive, not to mention the consume and discard factor). I had been searching for a decent second hand bike for months!
Becca wiped out once on the path (she had gained speed) but she got right back up and rocked the biking world. I am so proud of her. She has been a force to reckon with at times, then we have these amazing moments of clarity, joy and fun.
We purchased a helmet for Ethan, as he is now a proud owner of a tricycle. He was less than impressed to have to wear the helmet, but got used to it and enjoyed the ride. He also enjoyed following us, collecting dirt to add to the back bucket!
I owe J a relax and do nothing day, since yesterday was so hectic. He was spoiled with goodies, even a new pair of shoes and he was content to see his kids riding bikes, enjoying the outdoors and spending quality time all together. In two days my Dad and Grandmother will be here!! I am so excited (and have a ton of stuff to do!) How was your weekend?
