We spent most of the morning packing the rest of our gear & tidying up the house. Thankfully, the night before, Jenny, Greg & Carston came by & totally helped us pack the Uhaul. They did a superb job, fitting everything in and making sure all was set. We so could not have done it without them! Jenny and Greg came by in the morning to help with the remaining items, while Becca & I totally tried to get everything all set. Just after Noon we were on our way!
We stopped at the border to be “processed”. Like cattle we hearded into the office and waited. Mmmm Processed Soodz! We had no problems (YAY!) and we started driving east. We drove & drove & drove some more. Ooooo….we drove over the Mississippi River, which was uber cool! I never saw it before…now I can say I have
So OMG, we hit Chicago & wham! Deadlock! Traffic was crawling if it moved at all. It took us 2.5 hours to go like 6 miles!!! It was insanity! And ofcourse I ws the one driving through the chaos (you will read that arg, I drove through all the crap and J totally lucked out and got all the smooth sailing…grrr). Needless to say after that wild and stressful ride we were all ready to stop for the day!
Once free from the traffic jam, we found a place to stay for the night at Tinely Park, Illinois (just outside Chicago). The manager was sweet enough to make an exception for Charisma the cat & we woofed down some fast food. As a treat for Becca being such an angel , we all went swimming in the hotel pool. Becca had a blast swimming with both of us, since usually there is only one of us present when we go swimming. We all passed out for the night….(although the hotel pillows were terrible and J totally did not sleep well until he grabbed a towel from the bathroom and used that instead!)
