I am more of a go for it kind of girl. Francesco is more of a think it over, mull it over ,not so sure I want to do it kind of kid. Nicolo on the other hand is a leap before you look kind of kid. I am going to have my work cut out for me.

I sometimes wonder if caution isn’t an oldest child thing. It probably depends on the kid. I have to tell you I have LIVED that “I want to do it/I can’t do it” thing…the drawn-out conflict of desires…so I was totally feeling you here.

Our girl was 6 when she got her ears pierced; it took a year before they “healed” and stopped giving all of us fits. Then we figured out she’s sensitive and can only wear gold/silver. In retrospect, I can’t believe it took us so long to cop to that!

Vivian is the same way, anxiety city. I’m in the same position, I don’t know how to help her keep the anxiety at bay and just go for it.

Well Done Becca ;D I remembered my elder daughter just wanted to have hers pierced when she was about 6 or 7 years old and she took in the pain quite well surpringly!!

Now my younger girl is 12 and nope…she won’t have it

I have 5 piercings and a tattoo. I’ve actually been pierced 9 times in my life. I tend to be the jump first ask questions later type. My mother still wishes that I was more the hesitating type. But, then she sits around arguing with my sister because she is the hesitating type. I think there’s just no winning with this one.

I screamed when they marked my ears for holes . . . at 15. And I had my ears pierced at her age and they closed up. And I’m currently wearing studs because I nearly let the holes I got at 15 close up again. Maybe I’m not the best person to ask.

I find this so hard because James had all sorts of odd anxieties (although in other cases, I wish he would have more for some of the physical dangers). Sometimes, pushing has completely backfired (as in, I’m just getting him on roller coasters this year after a back experience at 3) and sometimes it’s been the best/only option. Discerning between the two, when I learn to do that, I’m awarding myself parent of the year.

I never had to do much to coax either of mine into anything, I don’t think…though my youngest was always a bit more careful than his older brother.
