Since this is my year to get fit, every Friday I am going to focus on fitness, my Happiness Project and goals. I find it extremely inspiring to read about other people’s journeys. I hope by sharing my experiences you too will feel inspired.
At the beginning of this month I had set three goals:
- Go to bed earlier.
- No snacks after 7pm.
- Exercise Daily.
I am totally stoked to have achieved all three goals!
I tried to go to sleep by 9:30 pm, however that really is just too early. So by 10 pm I am in bed, usually reading.
Twice we have had popcorn watching a movie this month. Besides that no pop or snacks after 7pm.
I have succeeded in exercising everyday except when I was vomiting. Some days I went for a walk outside, other days I ran on the treadmill or went for a swim.
To celebrate I am giving away a copy of “The Make Today Matter Makeover” by Brook Noel. The book totally fits into all that I am attempting to achieve. I have really enjoyed the authors approach and tone in the book. The book is full of mini-makeovers that are broken down into small achievable goals. I have been slowly making my way through the personality quizzes that Noel has set up to illuminate where my passion lies and how to take the next step. Which brings me to February’s goals. Now that I am exercising everyday I need to take the next step. So following Noel’s book and checking out her example online, I designed a simple food diary to keep track of what I eat, how I exercise and how I am feeling.
This month’s goals:
- Keep a food diary.
- Give up drinking milk (I love milk and this so sucks)
- Add a morning exercise to my routine.
- Run a minimum of 9 km a week (3x 3 km)
Meanwhile I am going to continue working through the mini-makeover in Brook Noel’s book, “The Make Today Matter Makeover“.
Are you trying to achieve some goals? Losing weight? Fitness goals? Financial goals?
Tell me about it in the comments and I will select one random commenter to receive a copy of Brook Noel’s book!

Oh Well done Chelle! You are awesome!
Fitness Friday – what a great idea. I may join in!!! I am currently trying to run at least 20kms a week….. but really need to hone in on bed early and snacking less!

I’m in. I’ll go 6km a week plus my hockey game, no snacks after 7 and no soda. I’m not going to commit to going to bed earlier, although I know it’s a darn good idea.
I bought new clothes for work in the fall, and sadly 5 months of going out for lunch has caused them to be not fitting so well…

I’m trying to get back to healthier eating. The holidays really threw me off, and I’ve been feeling it.
Sounds like you’re doing awesome on your plan!

You are AWESOME! I love how systematic you’re being about it. Say, with food journaling, if you have the time to sit at a computer and enter stuff, the Website called SparkPeople has been really helpful to me in the past. It’s an online food journal/nutrition tracker.
Right now, I’m trying to not have alcohol every night…and to get more regular about visiting blogs!

Well, I’m nearly to my goal weight. I’ve lost 60 lbs since March and have about 15 lbs to go. So, finishing those off and maintaining is my focus at the moment. Nutritrion, fitness, mental health, they’re all wrapped up in there.
I’m training for a half marathon and trying to lose 16lbs. So far I’m down 5lbs.
Why are you giving up milk? I thought milk was good for weight loss.
I am attempting to amp up my running. Although I slacked off the last 2 days…My goal is to be able to run outside this Spring like a real person…and actually use those running shoes I bought last year. I’ve done fairly well with not eating after 7 p.m. too, but I’ve had a few slips. Can’t beat myself up about that or I’d just slip back into the old ways and gain more weight.

Wow, Chelle!! You are totally inspiring me and I definitely need it.
I don’t know if I could give up milk, I wish you all the luck on that one. It would be so difficult for me. So I’m rooting for you!
My goal this year is to get healthier. So far, I’ve cut back on portion sizes, stopped picking at the girls’ leftovers (that is one of the hardest things to stop), and eating dinner earlier. Now, I’m going to add exercising daily.
Thanks for the motivation, Chelle!! You are doing amazing.
This is wonderful Chelle and I’m sure you have motivated alot of your blog buddies here me included
I find it hard not to snack after 7 pm though so usually I have fruits and yes….exercise at least 3 times per week.
Go Go Go Chelle!!!
Big Hugs to all the children at home Chelle ;D
You go! I’m so impressed with all that you’re able to achieve … and mother three children as well! Even when they are sick! That sounds like a great book and one I should read. I am trying to be more organized and use my time better.
