Next on my to-read list? The Tao of Willie and Let’s Spend the Night Togehter: Backstage Secrets of Rock Muses and Supergroupies. Not works of fiction, but I love anything to do with music, and after a year or two of mostly paranormal books of the romance and mystery variety, I am ready for a different “flavor”. Even if it’s in small doses or alongside some real fluff.

Have you read Finding Alice? If not, it’s not a light read, but it is fiction that reads like a work of non-fiction. For a long time, I thought it *was* non-fiction.

It’s been awhile since I’ve run into a good novel. So, currently on my nightstand is The Unprocessed Child, A Severe Mercy, and Mothering Magazine. The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society sounds pretty interesting. I’m going to check to see if my library has it.

i’m currently reading (with a flashlight in the dark while nursing willow):

the 19th wife.

and i have a whole stack of phillipa gregory (i’ve recently re-read the other boleyn girl) books waiting for me. and one of hers on order that was only published in the UK.

and, after book 3, i am finally almost-hooked on the twilight series. i’ll either borrow book 4 or wait until it is in paperback.

are you on goodreads.com? you should. i love it. it is a great way of keep track of what you have read and seeing what your friends are reading, too.

I expect that I have read fewer books in the last 3 years than I read in the average pre-parenting month, but I have one recommendation that I give to everyone who has ever picked up a book:

The Barrytown Trilogy by Roddy Doyle

In fact my copy is currently at a friend’s house down the street.

Many members of my family love P.G. Wodehouse.

(kudos to me for remembering to write “sushi” the first time for once)

I am working my way through “The Other Boleyn Girl”. I found it a bit slow at first but now I am getting into it. You are managing all that reading with the baby! Yay for you. I am hoping my reading doesn’t fall by the way side. I enjoy it so much and with the other two I didn’t manage to finish a book during the first two years of their life.

I’ve just finished Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy for the umpteenth time. It’s comfort reading for me. I still have my original copy, but if my sister’s reading I don’t because I’m pretty sure it’s a family book I stole.

Soon, I’ll be starting Say You’re One of Them, which is my book club pick, so I can’t say if I recommend it or not.

I’ve started (again) a list of books I want to read, but this time it’s on my iPhone, so it’s always with me (my amazon wishlist being used mainly for James’ school books and being too unweildy to be used properly). The only problem I’m finding is I enter things in as I see them, titles, no description and I find myself saying, “What in the world is that about?” It’s like an adventure.

The potato peel book is one I keep mulling over in my mind, but I haven’t gotten to it yet. I’m sure I’ll like it when I get to it, but not sure I’ll like it as much as everyone tells me I will. “Life of Pi” and “Water for Elephants” were like that.

I got my birthday gift today! Thanks so much. I feel more powerful already. If only I could find my lasso of truth . . .
