Half Way

Half Way

Well I have successfully made it half way through November. NaBloPoMo has been less challenging than I first imagined. So far it is working to spark my creativity and get me writing again.

It has been an awesome, busy family weekend. I dragged my on the mend kids, to the mall on a Saturday to get some ideas for Christmas. Getting the shopping done is a thorn in my side! I wish Canada had more options for online shopping so I never ever ever had to go into the mall again.

I was able to place a small dent into my Christmas shopping, which is a relief. I am looking forward to the Christmas season so much this year. We are completely settled and not moving for the first time in years! We get to decorate the house with our meager decorations and celebrate quietly together.

How do you get out on your own to get the Christmas shopping done? I cannot take the kids anymore they are way too observant!

10 Creative Thoughts

  1. I shop with one for the other, and do a lot online too.I also get a lot while I’m grocery shopping alone occasionally throughout the year – Costco has great gifts!

i shop online. and i go when nate is in school. since willow is clueless, it is almost like shopping alone. and i think if i needed to, jeff would watch the kids some weekend day to let me go.

but i’m done. with the exception of a few minor things and esp something for jeff. i am even done with stocking stuffers. we are having a pretty scaled down cmas this year. and i’m A OK with that. (there is no real telling what is coming from g’parents and others, though.)

happy shopping! (i didn’t realize so many online stores only ship to the US, but then i never really had to think about it before either.)

Online shopping really is the only way to go around here with kids the ages of mine. Unless for some Christmas miracle I’m able to get out of the house for an extended period of time without any of the three. I’m sure you can imagine that that does not happen very often.

Good for you for getting a running start though. I’m envious.

Hey Chelle, glad all is well for you :D

Every Nov/Dec period, I always reminded myself to start early getting pressies ready and I am sad to say I am in a panic mode right now because I have classes to attend twice in a week, plus assignment due dates, plus two pending trips in Dec (Malaysia & China), plus…plus..plus….waaaaaaahoooo…help :D

I shop online or make presents while Levi is sleeping. Even though he’s still really young, he’s way too observant to sneak gifts into the shopping cart. He wants them the minute he sees them.

If Kamryn was shopping with me when I wanted to get her something I use to tell her it was for my niece Emily. Worked well until we moved 2 provinces away :) Now I just leave the younger ones with the older ones and off I go (I’m so lucky my older is a gem)

I made a amazon gift list (and gift list for others) in Oct., double checked with Darren, had all o.k.ed, James promptly got the lego catalog and wanted something that was totally expensive and threw the list and budget out the window. Carried the catalog around for days, counted his money. Mad call to mom and the problem was solved (he’s still plotting for the present, “if I open a checking account with direct deposit they’ll give me the money” “You don’t have direct deposit.”).

Started looking for sales on-line etc. and spent on day without James at local strip mall getting stocking stuffers. Shopping is done for everyone but Darren who refuses to cooperate every. single. year. And yes, I am patting myself on the back.

  10. My kids are older now, so getting away without them really isn’t a problem. But when they were younger, I’d have to do the shopping for them on the weekends they visited their bio dad.
