Summer Reading Part 3

Summer Reading Part 3

Lacuna_Cabal_CvrI am so into the Harry Potter books at the moment. I had hoped that I could read through them, then see the new movie in the theatre with J.  Well we escaped Saturday night and watched it. I really enjoyed the movie. I am only on book five, so I am looking forward to reading through the rest!

I had a slight diversion though! I received a copy of The Last Days of the Lacuna Cabal by Sean Dixon (Canadian author!) I put down the Harry Potter book and dove into the novel. Then I had some trouble. You know how some books are easy to fall into. You curl up in bed and from page one you cannot put it down. Then there are the books that are meatier and demand that you read a good chuck before being completely involved into the story.

The Last Days of the Lacuna Cabal took some time to fall into, however the end result was so worth it. I cannot go into too much details or I would ruin the story for you. However I can tell you I so want to join a young woman’s book club now! hehe

The story is unique, challenging yet fun to read. Different from anything else I have ever read, which makes its appeal much stronger. It is a book about the love of books and friendship. It is odd though, so you have to be up for a challenge and willing to open your mind to the story.

I am going to have to seek out my HP books as I feel the need to re-read them now I have seen the 6th film but I think most of mine are in Japan! :-( Will have to check out this book as well, I love reading the books you recommend as I think we have quite similar tastes in books!

Hi Chelle, when my daughter started reading Harry Potter when she was eight and been an ardent fan of HP I have never been interested until NOW ;)

It seems like a discovery to me and yes, maybe I should just blog about this :D

Hope you are keeping well Chelle!!

I’m an exception, I guess. Haven’t ready any Harry Potter books.

I can’t wait to see the Harry Potter movie! Unfortunately I think I’m stuck waiting until it comes out on video. :(

  5. Challenging is good, but most of the time I am so brain-tired I just want a fun, easy read. I am still in the middle of two books I was reading before I started the Twilight series; still haven’t managed to get all the way through them yet. Still trudging along, though :)

  6. Sean Dixon says:

It may be challenging, but there’s something in there for Harry Potter fans as well.

    Thanks for the review.
