Surely not the uber 37.5 week pregnant mom of two. ack. Last night I was torutred with cramps. Not contractions. Noooo, just cramps. I have no other signs of labour, just cramps. In desperation this morning I walked on the treadmill for an hour in hopes to either jump start the labour or make the cramps disappear.
Neither happened. Instead I am sore and crampy. w00t. Yet oddly content and not feeling all that tired. It is sunny outside which helps the mood. The kids have been relatively well behaved and really I would rather wait a week before going into labour anyway.
At this point we would be throwing our children at our neighbors, calling friends in a panic hoping that someone was able to care for them while I gave birth. Next week, my bff will be home from her vacation and J’s mom will be coming to town in just over a week. Little easier not to worry about the kids next week.
AND I am still knitting up my doula’s thank you gift, have to plan a very special little girl’s fifth birthday party AND have some shopping to do. Who wants to go into labour without funky socks and fuzzy slippers for afterward?!?!
Yet there is a small part of me that is so eager to hold this little girl, smell that newborn smell, go through labour naturally, experience the birth of our child together with my husband … like now.
I will be sure to keep you all updated. I really do not think this is the begginning of anything “real” but what do I know I have never gone into labour without being induced.
What do you think? Am I going early? Just a crampy gal? Did you cramp a lot before the big day?
ps The blanket yesterday … Yes I quilted that! It is from Little Stitches by Amy Butler. I am not a fan of the colours, but I purchased the fabric (with great difficulty) when we were unsure of the gender. It is a play mat since our upstairs is all hardwood.

Hugs Chelle! It will all workout. I was overdue with both my boys so I know how you feel. Take Care.

I think it’s just VERY early signs of labour & really annoying but you’ll have a week to get stuff done. That’s my professional opinion.

much more than a mom´s last blog ..Wanna be my friend? Can I poke you?
Yes! I did cramp a lot. In fact, I had a couple of weeks of mild contractions for a couple of hours each night. I like to think of it as cheating a bit- like my body is sneaking ahead from the start line so it’ll be less work on the actual day. Yay body!!
We’re on belly watch for a few babes right now, and I’m thinking of you like crazy. I LOVED being in labour this last time, and I have to admit I’m a little jealous. It’s so incredible and empowering to be in that place. I can’t wait to hear how fantastically it all goes for you!!
I cramped on occasion towards the end, but they weren’t contractions. Oddly, it never even occurred to me that they might be contractions. Probably because it was my first.
Hope you get to feeling better soon!

In my recollection, cramps are an early sign of labor. Like the body prepping itself to actually do real contractions. Probably, if you were in the hospital and hooked up to monitors, they’d tell you these were itty contractions, even.
Keep living life and see if it happens naturally this time. That time on the treadmill might pay off!
I’m sooooo excited for you, lovey.

I’m so excited for you. My legs totally cramped up on that long flight. Oh. That information is completely not relevant to your situation
. I’ll be eagerly waiting for news.

Since you’re wanting to wait a week…I hope she holds on that long!
I’d be one grouchy mama if I was cramping AND had little sleep. But sometimes it doesn’t work that way.

Walked for an hour?!?! GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
Here’s hoping the next couple of weeks seem to go by slowly…to get everything done and enjoy some time with your first 2; as well as quickly…to experience it again and be able to hold your new little girl!

It is so tough to say. I had cramps and contractions for two weeks or so with Max and Samantha. I had tons of braxton hicks and it was annoying. I had such different labors with the both of them that it is tough to say. just try and rest and soon she will be here. * I hated when people would say that but it is so true.

That blanket you quilted is SO cute!!!! I love it! And I don’t necessarily remember “cramping”, I don’t think. Just the pains of the ligaments stretching, and all that stuff down there being “painful” and uncomfortable.
I had contractions for about a month before Kevin actually came. So not fun. I’m gonna guess you won’t go into labor before you get your socks & slippers & have someone to help with the kids ; )
Becca’s going to five in two days???? WOW! What are you guys doing for her birthday? Hopefully, NOT having a baby, right?

Yes to the cramping. It felt just like monthly cramps along with a belt tightening around my hips…the cramps were in the front and back. I hope this little girl come when you and she are both ready! Can’t wait to learn her name! ELVs to you!
Hi Chelle–
FYI… I was crampy for about 2 weeks before going into labor (was induced last time so didn’t know what to expect). My daughter was 6 days late. Right around the due date I started implementing all kinds of natural inducement tricks (had my membranes stripped, ate spicy food, and sex). Hope that wasn’t TMI. They did the trick. Just a thought…. Also, FYI.. Contractions came and went for 3-4 days before they stuck around and became productive. Although I was uncomfortable, it was nice to have the sense that SOMETHING was happening…
