Getting Ready

Written by Chelle on Saturday, January 10th, 2009

BecsI spent all day in my pajamas cleaning yesterday. The children cooperated at times, colouring or reading while nibbling their apples. At other times I was cleaning up their little messes throughout the house and cleaning! The house wasn’t really dirty per say, but we are having some people over tonight, so I wanted to get the little clutter out and clean.

What started off as a quiet dinner party has turned out to be a gathering of 19 friends (including their children)!! AHHH! I am so excited! This is one of the many reasons I wanted a house, so I could entertain and enjoy my friends in my home.

We are serving sushi, rice bags and humus with veggies! YUM!

ethanOoooo on Thursday night , I went swimming with a friend. It was awesome to get to the pool and to have good company was an extra bonus. I hope we can go tot he late swim every Tuesday & Thursday. I was so not sure I wanted to swim but had already made the plans so had to go that night and it worked! A swim buddy is great motivation!

Oh my, I almost forgot! I took Becca to the eye specialist. We were concerned that the bifocals were placed to high (they were, I hate when technicians treat me like I am an imbecile!) however it doesn’t matter BECAUSE … Becca does not need bifocals anymore!!!! Her eyes have developed as they should!!!! YAHOOOOOOOO! So she will still wear glasses but just regular glasses and eventually she will not need a specialist, just normal eye check ups! The strabismus has been treated!!!!!! Her left eye still turns in when she is really tired (and not wearing her glasses, which will continue to correct that even without the bifocals). In fact with the bifocals her left eye was actually turning out intermittedly. I am so thrilled for her, for her future, and being the vain mother I am, she will be easier to photograph without the bifocals.

I have to hustle, J already has the rice on the stove and I have to get a few more things done!

What are your plans for the weekend?

I *love* entertaining and having friends over – and try to do it often!! I can feel your excitement. (and now I want people at my house too! LOL)

This weekend DH is working the entire time so I think I am going to spend my time sewing. A quick clean up will happen here and there, but otherwise I’d really like to dive into my projects and get them done! I have some easy ones so I know they could be done in an afternoon.

19 people! Wow! Have fun! We are babysitting a couple kids (a return favor) so I have some painting planned, and a movie in case that falls flat :-) .

We were planning our Chinese New Year party last night. James would like to invite Becca. Think you can make it ;-) ?

Congrats on the glasses! That’s great.

That is great news about Becca’s eyes. I think Miss M will need glasses in the next year or so. I’m bummed that she’ll have to cover those beautiful eyes.

I am sure getting in the pool felt good and fun when you can do it with a friend. I am glad everything turned out good at the eye doctor. Sounds like there is a plan for the future. No plans for the weekend. Just the same old same old. LOL

That’s awesome news about Becca’s eyes! I’m so happy for her!

Good job finding a swim buddy – I’ve been living in my town for 6 yrs and still haven’t found anyone to swim or run with me. I would love to resume doing tiathlons – but I just don’t have the motivation (or energy) to train on my own.

Hey great news about Becca’s eyes as I know the anxiety when one has to refer to eye specialist. My younger daughter used to have ‘lazy eye’ and was referred to eye specialist too but now it is getting better.

Glad everything is back to normal and hey Chelle, you mentioned swimming, a hot pool?

We went shopping last weekend because we are getting ready for our Chinese New Year on 26 Jan which lasts for fifteen days!!

I know we’ve “talked” about this before… But I’m constantly amazed at how quickly you make friends! I’ve lived in my house for a little over 3 years now, and still don’t think I could come up with 19 (!) people to invite over for a dinner! I hope it was fun! :)

    Baby Soodz #3

    We're having a baby!

I am 36 weeks pregnant. There are 21 days until my due date on July 26, 2009.

When I am very still I can sometimes see the rythmic patterns of my baby practicing breathing, though there is no air in baby's lungs, yet. Sometimes this breathing practice gives the baby the hiccups!
