We have had our first snow fall of the season. The snow is blanketing the ground, all white and crisp. We lost power last night, the kids all tucked into their beds, while I waited for J to arrive home. He was out of town again for a university talk. The storm including wind, rain and snow was nasty to drive through but he made it home safely.
Now I am going to brag a little. J applied for a research grant and has been all edgy and nervous waiting to hear news. Last night he got the email that he was granted the research funds! W00t J you rock! Being that he is just getting started these funds will help with much needed equipment!
Becca, Ethan and I are still sick. This cold just does not want to go away. Just when we think it is clearing up the swollen, achey sore throat returns, then the coughing. yuck.
Both the children are loving the snow. We head out every day to play in it. I believe they will need more mittens and toques to keep up once we have a backyard … TEN days … it still feels like a life time away.
There is a new post up on Being Savvy Halifax AND look out things are going to change around here in preparation for the holidays!

Congrats to J on his grant. That’s wonderful.
I am still not excited for snow. It was snowing this morning again, but it will be gone by late afternoon if it’s not already. I just dread driving in the white knuckle type of weather. It was great when M wasn’t in school, we’d just stay home if the weather was icky. Now I have to get her to school.
I got all teary reading your other post. Hormones have still not returned to normal I guess. Although normal is still pretty weepy for me.

It is 65 degrees here and I am freezing! I cannot imagine it snowing right now!
However, if I did not have to be out in it, I would like some. Snow is pretty and relaxing to me.
I read that on J’s facebook – how awesome!
Ten days? That’s coming fast for me!

Oh congrats on the grant, how exciting. My FIL used to write grants for the school district he retired from and he always was so excited when one came through.
As for the snow, I’m in Northern Wi and get quite enough. If you need some I’d be happy to redirect Mother Nature your way

Ooh, aah! Fly keeps seeing pictures and video of snow even though it could be years before we get far enough north for him to to experience it himself! My husband didn’t see snow until he went away to college.

Congrats to J! That’s soo exciting! You must be so proud
.
Snow! I’ll admit to being a wee bit jealous. I went pecan gathering with a friend today and was whining about it still being hot. That’s just not a hot weather activity. Well, apparently it is. We have plans to visit the snow in Feb. I hope it snows and accomodates us.
Time seems to be going so fast!

I’m deeply aware of what a coup this is for J! Congrats to him (not only for the grant, but also for having chosen such a wife as you).
You are sick, yet you are out in the snow. I wish we were neighbors, as you are my kind of woman.

Wow, that is GREAT news all around! Except for the being sick…yuck. I’m there too. It’s pretty nasty.
Hope y’all are feeling much better soon!
Congratulations to J – that’s really good news.
I hope you and kids get better.
Snow – we don’t have any of that here. I hear we get some once in a blue moon but not much.
