Right Around the Corner
Oooo Halloween is less than a week away!!
I love Halloween. The magic of dressing up, challenging your imagination … the spookiness (although downplayed with young children)!
My husband proposed at a Halloween party hosted by the university pub we were attending. hehe. He was a dirty laundry basket, and I was a Post-It Note (last minute costume ideas for cheap!) It was totally a magical moment watching him drop to one knee out on the balcony, under the stars.
Next year I hope to have a Halloween bash at the house, something for the kids to enjoy. I totally wanted to do that this year with our friends, but life is so hectic right now and the apartment is so not party friendly.
Check out Halloween years gone by ….
Are you still contemplating what your little one will dress up as this year? Go check out my article at The Opinionated Parent for some spook-tacular inspiration, a fantastic picture of Becca and a chance to win!
I have one more element to complete this weekend on Becca’s costume and at that point we will reveal her magical transformation!

I think we have that same cat costume. Evan wore it a few years ago and now Harry gets his turn.
What a nice Halloween montage. I love the hot dog costume.
Awwwww so cute! Sierra and Brooke want to be matching pink poodles this year. What are Becca and Ethan going to be?

I remember that princess. And James is being a soldier again this year. What’s up with that? Granted, with more historical accuracy. I have visions of me creating a soldier from a different time period for every Halloween costume.

nate has had a love-hate relationship with halloween. he loves the candy. he hates the costumes. not seeing them on other people, but wearing them himself. when you ask him what he wants to be he either says, “well, i haven’t decided yet.” or “but i wanna be nate.” the second one usually has some tears with it. he’s been crying about costumes since before he could talk, so i know it isn’t just because he can talk. he won’t be “super nate” for me when i need him to be super good. he won’t be optimus prime in his new slippers (i have to tell him to just put them on, not “be OP.”)
so we do very minimal costumes for him. the first year he freaked out over a costume he was barely 1, he ended up with a devil tail pinned to his bottom. the year after that i think he wore his skeleton t-shirt. last year he was a cat, but only with the ear headband, a tail pinned to his bottom, and his face painted. this year, in the same theme, he’ll be a bumblebee. headband, wings, and bee butt. someday, i hope he will be willing to get into them, but not yet.
i tried to get him to be a monkey this year so willow could be his banana, but he wouldn’t do it.
as for willow, i don’t know yet. i have a cheerleader outfit someone sent to us. and i have a couple of tutu’s. but i also have just a couple of halloween season outfits that we’ve gotten, too. i probably won’t decide until friday.
trick or treat on main street is friday afternoon. what are you guys going to do?
