Wow. I survived an entire long weekend without the internet.

I didn’t like it. Sure it was nice to relax at a cute cottage by the sea, yet that is doable WITH my laptop. Being disconnected is so not fun. I did knit a lot. That was good, feeling the yarn between my fingers as I created something from nothing.

The weekend itself was fab. The kids absolutely adored having a yard to play in. We had to drag them indoors after the sun had gone down and the air was cool. Ethan was especially comfortable with the great outdoors. I am so happy we found our dream house. That boy needs to be outside!

We went on a whale watching tour. pfft. The whales were GONE. Such a bummer. The children were so wonderful on the boat, never complaining, and so quiet. I promised my heartbroken daughter a trip out next summer before the creatures head south for the winter!

My Dad took off to do some exploring on his own and will back today or tomorrow. I cannot believe his two week trip is almost over! The kids miss him already even though I have reassured them that he will be returning.

I have been playing catch up and working on some new projects. Wow. It is so nice to be caught up and back online. What was life like before this? Are you totally interwined in your connectedness?

  1. Glad to see you’re back! It sounds like you had a fun weekend – we’re hoping to rent a cottage for a week next summer. Did the kids sleep well? That’s always my big fear.

It’s good to get away and have some fun and relax, but I totally understand about not being connected. When we moved in last weekend it took several days for the connection to be made. We had withdrawals.

Welcome back, sound like a great time. Can’t wait to see what you knitted.
Little boys love the outdoors, as soon as we get home in the evening Francesco doesn’t even make it in the front door till almost sunset.

  4. Glad you all had a great time! It took me forever to get online to begin with, but now that I am, I can’t imagine a life without the net.

  5. Helen says:

You can see whales from my cottage on the south shore *sigh*
I do enjoy a time now and again without the net but it’s my one connection to family and friends back home where I can get in touch with everyone at once…isn’t it crazy how it has become a ‘need’ rather than a ‘want’?!?

Love the pics!! Count down begins…2 months and 4 days till we are home for Christmas!

I’ve been spending less time online and enjoying it! Not a couple of days like you LOL but just less overall. And amazingly enough, I’m getting a lot more done around the house. :P

I hate it when my parents visit and then leave. It always stinks. s

  8. Welcome back! Glad you had so much fun.

I’m totally addicted to my laptop but my week away without it this summer was fantastic. Mostly because I was prepared for it and had gotten ahead on all of my work etc so it was awesome to be more focused on my family. BG missed it though. ;-)

I am totally addicted to my blackberry-not because I email so much anymore since I stopped working in Feb but because I like being connected to the world. Sometimes being a mom can be lonely even when you are filled to the brim with stuff with your amazing child so it is nice to be able to connect via text or email or phone with a friend

Glad to read your update Chelle and sometimes other things just take priority over the internet so that’s fine.

Have a great weekend ahead :D

Where about’s did you go? I so miss Nova Scotia! You can’t go wrong no matter what direction you decide to explore :) Have fun for the duration of your dad’s stay!

  12. Holly says:

Sorry you missed the whales. I have trouble when I’m gone too long. When we moved, I had a Christmas party to go too and I realized I couldn’t RSVP and I couldn’t get directions. Everything was on-line.

I have cut back though. The hard part is when you get on and have to wade through the e-mails.

Happy to hear that your Dad is enjoying his visit, bet the kids love having Grandpa around. Jillian just said to me this morning “I want to see Nanny”, if only it were that easy :-(

I am on the computer all day long at work, but since I entered the world of the blog I do find myself logging in on weekends to see what is up.

My hubby and I went whale watching on our honeymoon at it was amazing. It was mid June. I don’t know if that is an especially good time to go, but we saw a ton of Minke whales and a few hump back whales (what was awesome). We went off the coast of Cape Bretton (we stayed in Beddeck for our honeymoon).

I love making stuff. I made a sock Monkey, finished it Tuesday. For the first time of making one, I think it turned out pretty darn good and Ariana loves it.

I also sewed a cat house. It has foam between two pieces of material. It has the four sides, the roof, and bottom. I swear I was SO careful! There is ruffle between the sides and the top and somehow, (I still don’t know how) I had the ruffle tucked wrong and now it’s INSIDE the house instead of the outside. Oh well, the cat actually sleeps in it so at least she likes it!

Connectedness. I am so UNCONNECTED right now it’s not even funny. I just keep getting more and more lost in life.

Sounds like you guys had a GREAT time! So, what about the hosue? I can’t remember when you close and when you get to move in. You should put a count down thing on your blog!
