Phew
Wow … Hi Again!
I totally got buried in that list was I was going on about last week. I have good news however! I have emerged from the to do list truimphent! I rule the list! Booyah!
Now I have company for two weeks.
See ya!
hehe … I am sure I will pop in. I mean come on, I am so into you guys. I cannot even fathom two whole weeks.
I have been writing, sewing, crafting, decorating for Halloween. In fact I have Becca’s so cute costume 85% done! All I have is some finishing touches to complete once my Dad’s visit is complete. I am so happy with how everything is all coming together.
My weekend was crappy. I was in a foul mood, after learning that the managers of this apartment building were having an “Open House” from 12-4pm Saturday and Sunday to show our apartment. And when did they inform us you might wonder. Oh yeah Friday NIGHT … right before I am about to open a beautiful bottle of wine. Instead of sipping sweet nectar form the gods, I spend Friday night cleaning my apartment, because like my husband so sweetly says “Damn you woman for having pride!” (in jest of course!) So I was all foul all weekend, bitter that for three months they are going to be biatches and show our apartment at a whim. So seriously, my apartment, although I do try, is not “show to strangers every nook and cranny” ready on a whim EVERY DAY.
Is yours?
Wait maybe don’t answer that unless you have small children and you are human…k?

I’d never be able to move since my house is pretty much never that clean!

I am pretty sure that they need to give at least 24 hrs notice. I know we had the same problem when we were trying to get out of our last apartment. I am so not looking forward to moving again.

Like I said before I feel like I clean constantly and it’s never finished. I would have been just like you and scrub my place instead of the wine and then be pissed I didn’t get to relax and enjoy the nectar of the gods. My husband would say why do you care we are moving, I have that same pride issue.
Have a great visit with you family!

I think every mom feels like they clean and clean and it is always dirty. I feel like there are toys and stuff and dirty clothes everywhere and being pregnant-well I hate the dirt. I am sorry you had a crappy weekend due to the open house. How annoying.

I’ll press panic button if given just short notice too and it can be so tiring waiting for people to view the house. Still, I hope it went well Chelle

My apartment was never “show to strangers every nook and cranny” ready, and my having kids had nothing to do with it. I just could never stay on top of it all!

i can’t remember the last time my house was clean like that . . . wait, i do remember . . . NEVER! there is always at least one closet (or whole room) that is a complete disaster. but you know what, i’m ok with that. and anyone who comes to look at my house had better understand that that room exists.
i can’t believe they are showing an apartment you are still living in! i’ve never had a landlord do that.
when we left our apt in oakland we already owned this house and we had lived there for more than 5 years so we were guaranteed our deposit back in full, so my urge to clean that place (they expected all of the aluminum miniblinds to be washed) was nonexistent. needless to say, i did basic cleaning and left it at that. did the top of the kitchen cabs get washed? HELL NO! neither did the bazillion miniblinds (seriously, a one tiny bedroom apt and like 15 blinds).
but i also understand the desire to have it clean for the showing. but for the nursling in my house, i probably would have done the wine and the cleaning at the same time. could have made it more fun!
sorry you had a crappy weekend. glad it is over. boo on your landlord for showing the apt. but i agree, at least in the states they are **required** to give you 24 hr notice before entering your apt for any reason.
and try to keep this in mind when you are cleaning and ticked off . . . YOU OWN A HOME OF YOUR VERY OWN! and this time that you are remaining in the apt is only temporary. there is an end in sight . . . and oh what a beautiful sight it is.
hugs to you!

I would not bother to clean too much. Just pick up the floor, after all you are still living there and paying rent, it is still your apartment.

Well I’ve come to realize in my house it is a viscious circle of clean, re-clean and likely re-re-clean the same thing over again. It is a losing battle

When we were trying to rent our house our property manager once gave me four and a half hour notice. I cleaned the entire house spotless in four hours. I was amazed that I did it! And also happy to move in with family so I didn’t have to deal with the short notice stuff. Very annoying. LOL

Have fun with your dad!
It’s not like they’re looking at your stuff - just the layout of the apt. Plus, you don’t have to care if it goes because it’s not like you’re selling it …relax!
No, so NOT presentable. At anytime these days.

I hate showing house. When we sold our last one I would get heart palpitations before showings and open houses. I hope they rent it quickly.
I love your Oct theme.

Since de-cluttering and getting a cleaning lady that comes in every two weeks my house is now 15 minutes away from presentable to my mother-in-law in every room at any time…and I am DAMN proud of myself! Here’s hoping it will last, FOREVER!!

Sorry to hear about the showing of the apartment. Hopefully, it will fill soon and that pain will be over. The last time I moved, a realtor gave us 5 MINUTES notice that they were coming over. And, well, let’s just say that I have a toddler, was writing my dissertation, and working a full time job. Also, I’m Holly’s sister and we have similar sensibilities in that area…. Luckily, all it took was one visit I guess people were able to overlook the mess…..

Wait a minute, I was outed by my sister? Just as I was about to claim perfection. Guess that tack is out :-). You already knew better anyway.
Hope you get a more restful weekend.

Haha! Even though I’ve never spoken with you, I can sort of hear you saying Booyah!
Too bad about showing the apartment. People really need more notice than that.
We want to see costumes!

Oooh! I want to see Becca’s Halloween costume. I’ve made Boo’s costume as well. It’s the Halloween tutu set that I have showing on my Sparkle and Charm Boutique website.
As for the short notice of the showing of your apartment, you had every right to be grumpy about that! I would have to do some serious cleaning to make my home even walk-through presentable!
By the way, I love your blog design! Very cute.
One last thing, because you left me a comment, I’m entering you in my drawing for the FREE hair bow. Check back Saturday morning when I’ll announce the winner.

Okay, wait a minute. Leagally, can they show your apartment whenever they want? When I lived in Hawaii, in a condo, they had to notify me and ASK if it was okay to show the condo, they couldn’t just tell me, cause we were still paying rent and here, there are Renter’s Rights, but I don’t know about where you live.
“Show Ready”? Only after I have scrubbed every nook and cranny on a Sunday. I do try to keep my house as clean as possible. I always have this fear that some unknown person, police, child welfare, detectives, or someone coming in to my house and they look at it and say, “What kind of mother are you!”.
Yea, I’m weird like that.
