Rambles of a Tired Mom

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

phew. That headache was nasty. I was completely out for the day. Yesterday was better and today will be fantastic!

I am almost done Becca’s costume!! I have one little thing to do! Then I have another sewing project to get done (have the fabric just need to get at it!) Becca’s costume turned out so awesome. YAY me! She tried it on and loves it. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy! I so adore creating things!

Ethan and I are attending Becca’s Preschool Aquatics this morning. She is so excited to share it with us. I felt like a total bad parent with these classes. She swims in the pool for half an hour then the rest of the time she is with her class. So I would take Ethana nd we would run errands or play a the playground. However, what Becca really wanted was for me to watch her in the pool! awww! So last week I made sure to be there to cheer her on and watch and will do so for the rest of the class.

A few people have asked how the packing is going … ha ha ha. Packing? What packing? I made a promise to myself that I would not get overwhelmned by it all and sucked into it paying little attention to the rest of my world. So November 1st, I will start but the kids, our friends, our activities, will take president over silly old packing. I have a month where we have the apartment and the house (grrr evil lease), so I have plenty of time, beside J has finals to distribute and mark as well as all that other end of semester professor jazz.

I am however done most of my Christmas shopping. I do have a few things to square away, complete etc and stocking stuffers to take care of. I am so glad this is the last year that I will be moving in December! sheesh!

Thank you for all your support concerning the Savvy Source! I am so excited about the project. In fact I have a new post up today about choosing a dollhouse, check it out!

w00t .. err ouch

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Oh my … I have the worst headache. I totally resent being a human barometer. Pressure changes, the wind starts howling and I am curling up into the fetal position, crying, snapping at my children if they do more than whisper and wishing I could crawl back to bed.

Guess who is working late tonight?

ugh.

My head hurts so bad I feel nauseous. yum. We are heading to the library this morning, really so the children get a break from their irritable mother. Besides libraries are suppose to be quiet …. right?

ugh.

Now for the w00t!

I am officially live on the Halifax Being Savvy blog. There are a ton of posts to explore and I will be posting three times a week. It has been so much fun (and a lot of work) to start writing for the Savvy Source. I am learning so much about my community and how wicked cool my city is! The topics are very local, however I will point you over there from time to time, as I write on topics pertaining to preschoolers.

Trying to Focus

Monday, October 20th, 2008

I am having trouble with my focus as of late. I have so many things swirling through my head I cannot seem to capture one thing and give it my full attention. It is tiresome.

I fell off the track. I was so focused on running and swimming from April through summer. Now I am lethargic and unmotivated. It is cold outside (lame excuse yet has frozen my progress). We spent September looking, then finding our dream house. That took much more energy than I would have imagined. I want to join a gym, start running again, yet I feel like I am setting myself up for failure if I do. It is the focus element. No focus=failure. Failure is bad. Instead I am going to make the commitment to keep swimming three times a week. Once we are in the house and settled I will reevaluate the gym option.

I have a few projects on the go that are draining me mentally, yet I enjoy them, so they are keepers. I still need to finish Becca’s costume and a couple other sewing projects before I pack up the sewing machine. You sew November is pack and trash month for me. I am going to be decluttering, Freecycling and packing up this little apartment in preparation for our very LAST move. J is incredibly busy at work and I really really need to let him focus, even when I want him to help me focus instead.

How do you keep focused?

Reconnected

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Wow. I survived an entire long weekend without the internet.

I didn’t like it. Sure it was nice to relax at a cute cottage by the sea, yet that is doable WITH my laptop. Being disconnected is so not fun. I did knit a lot. That was good, feeling the yarn between my fingers as I created something from nothing.

The weekend itself was fab. The kids absolutely adored having a yard to play in. We had to drag them indoors after the sun had gone down and the air was cool. Ethan was especially comfortable with the great outdoors. I am so happy we found our dream house. That boy needs to be outside!

We went on a whale watching tour. pfft. The whales were GONE. Such a bummer. The children were so wonderful on the boat, never complaining, and so quiet. I promised my heartbroken daughter a trip out next summer before the creatures head south for the winter!

My Dad took off to do some exploring on his own and will back today or tomorrow. I cannot believe his two week trip is almost over! The kids miss him already even though I have reassured them that he will be returning.

I have been playing catch up and working on some new projects. Wow. It is so nice to be caught up and back online. What was life like before this? Are you totally interwined in your connectedness?
