Emergencey
Ethan fell yesterday.
I was attempting to be firm. Be tough. Let the kid fall asleep on his own. Instead he fell.
He had a split fat lip that was bleeding. I nursed him to sleep and he slept, but needed snuggles throughout the afternoon.
I was cooking Bat chips, when I heard him wake. I wondered why he had not wandered into the kitchen and went to see him.
He was on the floor crying.
I asked him to come to me and he cried louder.
I put him on his feet and said to come here baby.
He attempted to walk and crumpled to the floor.
I tried again.
He crumpled
again
I panicked.
Called J.
Rushed to the Children’s Hospital.
3.5 hours later
X-rays performed.
A mother pinning her boy to the x-ray table.
It looks like nothing is broken.
A sprain that should get better.
Exhausted parents and children trek home, pass out.
After finishing baking Bat Chips.
He seems fine today.
Limping.
Poor kid.
Guilty Mom.
Should listen to her instincts.
Allow her children to be them and not fit the mold of others.
Snuggle my kids. Not too much to ask.
We are off to party like 3-5 years olds at the library … pictures will come .. promise.

Poor little guy! It’s so horrifying when young kids are hurt, isn’t it? But he’s okay and these things HAPPEN!

don’t feel bad, we’ve all been there.
nate ran into the handle of a cart someone suddenly walked away from that was right in his path the other day (in the middle of everyone’s path at that). split second and whamo! i tried to brush it off. no big deal. a little red. next day, instead of it being red, it was a bit of a shiner. guess it hurt more than i wanted him to say it did at the time. he usually whacks into something an goes on about his day. no bid deal. he’s always done that. i think he cried for 10 seconds when he was little bitty and got his first actual black eye. so i should really listen when he says it hurts. but i was busy and on a mission to find something.
so trust me we’ve all been there. don’t beat yourself up about it. he’ll forgive you. so will we. hugs to the big man for his boo boos.

OMG! I’m glad to hear that Ethan is ok! I think we’ve all done something like that before - tried to get our kids to do something that all the “other kids” do only to have our attempts end badly. I wonder - who are all these “other kids”? Do they really exist?

Oh my, I am glad he is feeling better. Don’t beat yourself up. Francesco was throwing a fit one time and tried to run out in the street. I grab him by his arm and he dropped to the ground, cried and would not use his arm. I gave him Nursemaids elbow. He was fine once we popped it back but I felt so bad about it.

Crikey. It was like that for us, too. Everytime we were full of resolve and were really going to hold the line, the kid would throw up or have a fever of 104, and we’d wonder why he/she wasn’t supposed to be in the bed with us again?

I have those moments with max. I get upset thinking why can’t you be a good sleeper or why can’t you put yourself to sleep but he can’t. he is so wonderful in so many ways and he is just max and I need to respect that part of him. Hugs momma. It is hard not to be upset. Hugs

Oh honey, I know that feeling all too well. And when people told me not to feel guilty, well, how do you not?
But listen to this. When Alaina was 3, she had crawled under the recliner to get the kittens. I was asleep cause I was sick and had taken Nyquil. The phone rang, I kicked the foot rest down, heard her scream, pulled her out, and the metal part of the under of the chair slit her face open. Only about an inch, but it was pouring blood. I STILL feel guilty and HATE to think about it. Her scar is no longer noticable. But let me ask you, would you say it was my fault? I hope not, it was an accident. Pure and simple, but still, I feel GUILTY!
I hope he does better really soon. Poor little guy.
