Twinkle Toes

Written by Chelle on Monday

Over the weekend Becca attended her first pre-Ballet class. As always she had her head in the clouds, prancing about barely listening to the teacher at all. However, these classes are not intended for hard core discipline, or commitment to the craft. Instead I just want her to have fun with some children her age. She already has a “best” friend in the class and absolutely LOVED dressing for the occasion.

She is such an unfocused child, never really committing to anything to an extreme. Never was she obsessed with a character, at times she will want to watch the same movie over & over again, however that is usually short lived. I witness other children insisting on certain clothes, shows, toys, whereas Becca not so much. She reminds me of the way Belle is portrayed in Beauty and the Beast, nose always in a book or head swimming with stories and fantasy. I am never sure when I should bring her down to reality or if I should ever. I want her to be creative, free to explore, yet want her to know the difference between the two.

Ethan has really been suffering with this cold and teething. He is not sleeping well (which means no one is sleeping well), he is perpetually cranky and in need of attention and distraction. He is an exhausting little being to be around. I was so thankful that J recognized all of this and stayed home to help me (aka parent while I slept most of the day). I am so grateful he is so in tune to his family.

We have a busy week, then we are preparing for a two visit from Grandpa!!!!! I had hoped to have sewn Becca’s costume for Halloween before my Dad arrived, however that is looking to be less likely every minute that ticks by.

We weathered our Hurricane Kyle. It was blustery and rainy last night, then just as J was taking Becca back to bed after a potty trip …. poof … we lost power. Becca was completely spooked and spent the rest of the night hogging the covers with me, while J slept on the couch! The power returned early in the morning, and everyone slept past due!

How was your weekend?

Becca looks so beautiful and Ethan is growing so.

Glad to hear you weathered the hurricane. Despite your reassurance, I “watched” it via google maps for a time. Earthquakes are so much easier. They are over before anyone knows to worry.

Our weekend was hot. Darren got some work done on our raised beds, hopefully they will be making they’re appearance soon.

Oh my gosh she looks SO grown up!

I love that she doesn’t care about those things - most parents could only hope for that.

Was thinking about you with Kyle out your way.

I cleaned my dad’s crap room in my parents’ basement.

How cool, Becca looks so sweet in her outfit! Olivia would love to do that too - just waiting for the new year before I sort something out for her. Becca sounds exactly like Olivia - in a wonderful world of her own! I love it.

I still live in my own world. It’s called my bubble and in Helen Land EVERYTHING is to my liking.

We had a ‘fun-filled’ trip at a racetrack…ALL WEEKEND! It was a very good thing that I had a great book! I also think I did about 50 sudoku puzzles, on Sunday alone!

We had a quiet weekend. Sam’s sick with a fever and we all have queezy stomachs…fortunately, nothings come up!

Becca looks so happy! I say, ‘let her dream!’ She’s only young once…plus, you’ve worked hard to foster a strong sense of independance and imagination, so, enjoy! Sam currently picks a set of names for us (usually friends of ours), then he pretends to be the kid of whatever age (big kid of 5 years right down to a baby of 5 months) and calls Adam and I the respective parent’s names…it’s fun :)

Oh great pictures of her dancing! My kids were in gymnastics but the gym I found here is a serious one and we are in that having fun stage.

This weekend was good! My husband came home and Sunday was spent cleaning the garage, which was really needed. LOL

Well, darlin’, I’d have to say I got a heck of a lot more sleep than you did this weekend. I feel for you and this particular stage of teething crankies. Ick.

The Minnesota Ballet calls its pre-k classes “Creative Movement,” which is perhaps the most apt title I can think of.

I love, love ,love the ballerina outfit. I remember my fist ballet class, I love dancing around in the tutu and slippers. She looks so beautiful in the pink.
I hope Ethan gets and sleeps better soon. You are so right about the not sleeping but at my house if the baby doesn’t sleep, Momma doesn’t sleep. G sleeps like a log and claims he doesn’t hear him, can you send J to give him a lesson on being in-tuned.

She’s so cute in her outfit! Sounds like she is having fun! Kayla is much the same way - not becoming obsessed/attached to anything in particular either. She doesn’t request character products etc. I wish they had a dance class around her for her, I bet she would love it!
