Sweet Goodness -Mostly
What a wonderful weekend. Seriously. Now that the stress of finding our dream home is over we totally had a relaxing weekend. I was not well most of the weekend and yet it was still great.
Saturday I was suppose to attend a photography class at the university, but at the last minute I bailed. It felt right to be with my family that day, rather than in a classroom. I thought for a moment I might regret it, as I was looking forward to attending it so much, but I really have no regrets. There will be other classes that will have better timing for me.
Instead we explored the Public Gardens, it was early and the gardens were still. It was wonderful watching the children run, laugh, while I walked beside my sweet husband. Afterward we daydreamed at Rona about all the house possibilities. After a yummy lunch we cruised out to the valley and went apple picking.
Seriously, these apples are the very best apples I have ever eaten! Becca was totally into the process of picking apples, taking care to pick the right ones (aka the ones that worms did not find first!). Ethan was perturbed that the grass was almost as tall as he was, but enjoyed munching down on an apple while his Dad and Sister did all the work (I of course was photo-journalling the entire moment and therefore not picking apples hehe).
Yesterday was a strange day for me. LOOK OUT there may be too much information, feel free to skip ahead. After a week of an odd menstrual period, I started bleeding again, and with furry. I was hit with wretched cramps and was not at all well. After passing a lot of blood and big clots, I felt better, lighter and whole again. It was very very strange. It could be off kilter still from not having a period for two years or we were pregnant for a glimmer of time and my body was so not down with that. Either way I am happy that it is tapering off and my hormones are regulating. A two week period is so not my thing, so I am bitter yet relieved.
While I bitterly made it through my day, my FABULOUS husband BAKED APPLE PIE and made HOME MADE PIZZA. He is my hero. Really truly he saved the day! Becca was his little assistant upon arriving home form Sunday school, I napped or was curled up in the fetal position while they worked. The apple pie was amazing, perfect really! The pizza was yummy and I felt so warm and cozy knowing they were happy.
Now we are diligently eating our way through 20 lbs of apples (in hopes we can go apple picking again before the season is over!). I am recovering, the children are suffering with snotty noses and coughs, J is back to work and Autumn has arrived.
How was your weekend?

That strange menstrual period was probably just your bodies way of getting back on track. It’s happened to me before.
You have an awesome hubby. I want to go apple picking!!

aaahhh… “pickin’ down the Valley”?!? So jealous! Still do not know why it is called ‘down the Valley’ as it is more up! Either way…we used to go with my WHOLE family. There would be about 30 or 40 of us! when Callum and I first moved to Toronto and we went ‘pickin’ apples there, it hailed and the apples were the sizes of cherries!
This weekend past found us finishing all de-cluttering and organizing. I don’t think I’ve left the house since Friday, come to think of it! Thank goodness we have a bunch of children around for Geordie to play with, he was out 9AM yesterday morning! Couple more steps and then house will be on the market! WOOHOO!!!
Hope you’re feeling better!

Seems our DH’s were on the same wavelenght yesterday, mine made apple pie too.
We went to a Corn Fest at our community league on Saturday. It was fun your membership got you a lovely roast dinner with yummy Taber corn, some fun for the kids and a bon-fire. Jillian was so cute with her “Mommy where are the marshmallows and sticks?”

I am SO sorry about the period thing. That must have been just awful. Those clots give me the worst cramps. It sucks, big time.
But the apple picking sounds like so much fun! And if what they say is true about an apple a day keeps the doctor away, maybe your kids won’t stay sick for too long.
Glad you’re feeling better!

Hope you are starting to feel yourself again.
But I would call the doctor anyway you know.

Apple pie and pizza? Are you sure you’re not American?
I’m sorry to hear about your two-week period (holy moly!), but the rest of your weekend sounds divine. Sure wish I could go apple picking and dress my kid in a cute little hoodie. But it’s 90 degrees here today, sigh…

We practically went apple picking and did fall things. O.k. no. We went to Disneyland at night, so it wouldn’t be too hot. But, if we waned to, we could go to Oak Glen, because the season has arrived. We’re waiting until Oct. and getting the apples and pumpkin in one fell swoop.
If you’re going to have an apple tree, you need one of the corers/peeler things. I saw one in Maine for $10 and nearly bought one since it’s $30 here and when I finally break down and buy one, I’m just going to be annoyed.

Hurrah for autumn in the maritimes! I took Sam apple picking last year in NB…so much fun! Enjoy the apples…keep in mind that since their so super fresh, you can store them for a couple of months (especially once you have a cool damp basement) over the winter…it’s kind of the maritime thing to do

OMGosh! I haven’t checked in in ages, and I am *so* excited for your family! Congratulations :).
We apple picked and made applesauce on Saturday, then invited my Grandma for dinner (a yummy autumn stew… even though it was in the high 70’s, lol).

Thanks so much for a wonderful post about a wonderful weekend. I LOVE apple pie. We went apple picking and we made apple sauce instead but I wish we had made apple pie-yummy. The nice thing about being prego is no period and nursing-no period. Yeah!

Oh, what a great weekend! We did nothing. Really, we were quite lazy! I’ve been working on going through our stuff, one room at a time, so we can feel like this is home and get rid of what we really don’t need. I got rid of quite a bit the other day so we took Sunday to be lazy and watch movies. DH is traveling for work so we got away with it. Hahaha

Apple picking sounds fun. We’ve never done that but we should. Maybe next year when the baby is older.

That’s so funny! We went apple picking too! Although we just picked them from a bag at the farm. LOL We also got 20lbs worth! I’m trying to think of all the yummy vegan recipes I can make with apples.
I’d share but, the kids got into them first. LOL
We did go blueberry picking though.
Take care!

Oh you are making me crave a trip to the Valley. We were just there a month ago to visit the family but now I want, no need, some East Coast air.

I love the first picture! It’s great!
Sorry, I have not been around much. I started teaching again, so it has taken all my time.

okay, I haven’t been apple picking in years but everyone is writing posts about it. Now I MUST go. Must!!!
I hope your cycle works itself out. I had a hard time with mine since I had M (3.5 years ago) and I am still running a 23 day cycle. I miss my 28 day cycles. I feel like I am bleeding all the time. I just manage to get past my PMS and it starts again. UGH

I wish we had things to do around here that were just half the fun. I know the TMI part wasn’t fun but you were surrounded by family and that alone makes life feel good. But, we have no recreational activities at all around here.
