It’s Official .. I Think

Written by Chelle on Friday, September 19th, 2008

The house is ours! I think … We had until yesterday to ensure all our conditions were met (house inspection, insurance & mortgage). So it should be a done deal. So why am I all not so confident? Well on MLS the house is still listed, there is no Sold! sign yet and things were weird yesterday. There was no firm .. w00t you know? So as I suffer (along with Becca) with a cold, I am a little in a fog, wondering if it is all real.

Did we really just buy a house?

I think so.

J seems to be feeling it too. We talked till late into the night last night about furniture placement, daydreamed together about all the wonderful things there, all the things that will come there.

I wish it felt more real. December 1, seems so far away. There is so much between now and then. A lot of really fun cool stuff really. My Dad is coming for a visit, Halloween, our wedding anniversary and then the big move.

I hope it is just the cold talking … I have special plans this weekend that a cold would not be welcome … ugh.

What are your plans for the weekend?

I am sorry that you have a cold. I have been feeling like I was getting one too. It’s that time of year I suppose.

I hope that you hear for sure about the house. They left the for sale sign up on our house even after we moved in! We had to keep calling the selling agent to come get it, and they wanted to leave it longer, and they hadn’t put a sold sign on it. We even got someone at the door asking to see the house. It was very annoying, and finally Heath just took it down himself. So, I’m sure that in your case it will just take some time for those loose ends to be tied up too. :)

Yay! I’m so happy for you guys. I’m sure it’s all good – realtors are slow at that stuff once they’ve made the sale. Signs don’t make them money so they can wait, you know?

With all the work you have to do, December 1 will be upon you before you know it. How exciting to have Christmas in your new home!

Yay it’s official! It’s been my experience that they’ll leave the listing up for a while, *just in case* – they are horrible that way. It keeps people potentially calling them and since it’s sold, maybe they can direct them somewhere else. I don’t like that part about it at all.

You’ll have lots to do between now and then! (But, it is a Canadian thing that it takes that long to get into the house? US is typically 30 days (okay ours were 30, maybe others were longer))

    :)

Congratulations! I remember having that feeling as well. To us, the buyer, it is such a big deal but to the real estate agents, the lawyers, etc… it’s all in a days work. I found that, that made it not seem as ‘final’!

Hope the cold passes. Can’t wait to hear what you did!
As for us, we have a room to go through and get the house ready for selling! WOOHOO!!

Arrrgh! colds suck! Did you sign the final release that removes all of the conditions? If so – then it’s done, done, done! Woot! As a seller, waiting for the sold sign to go up made us nervous – like what if the buyer backed out? But alas, realtors have their own motivation.

This weekend we’re going to the Farmer’s Market in town, hanging around the house so Brooke can get over what ever has been making her vomit all over me (rotovirus?), and then on Sunday I’m having a girls night out – going to the New Kids on The Block concert, followed by the official NKOTB After-Party at Fluid Lounge. I took Monday off of work to “recover”! LOL!

unlike buying a car, where you drive off the lot with your new major purchase, buying our house seemed unreal for a while, too. even after we had moved all of our stuff from cali–because we immediately **left** all of our stuff in NM and went back to cali for like 4 months. it didn’t feel real until we were sleeping there and unpacking boxes.

it will feel real soon enough. and once again, CONGRATULATIONS!!! you, home owner, you.

my plans for the weekend? going to lunch tomorrow to celebrate my bday with some other fellow virgos and then going to a baby shower in Abq (also on saturday) assuming willow doesn’t protest my plans.

have a nice weekend. feel better.

Yea! The house is yours! And yea, I don’t understand why it takes so long to be able to get a house once they say it’s yours. It makes no sense to me either. You spend the next 6 – 8 weeks fretting over it.

But it will come soon enough and then you’ll be busy decorating your OWN house! Woo Hoo!!!!!

    Hiya honey!

Not sure how it is in Canada…. but my “For Sale” on the front lawn stayed there until we had moved in. In fact, it was still listed and the “Sold” sign never went up!

    Sheesh.

Don’t you stress your pretty head! ;)

HUGS – thank you so much for your comments, I just loves ya!

i know, it never felt “real” for me till that SOLD sign went on. As to mls, they don’t work weekends & it takes up to 3 days for any changes on mls, just fyi, lol.

Chelle, Congrats on the house. Everyone goes through those crazy ups and downs when they buy a home. Its a life changing purchase but so worth it.
I can’t wait to see what the kids are going to be for Halloween.
We are going to take the plunge and purchase a Mini-van this weekend. I think that will make me an official “Soccer Mom”.

    Baby Soodz #3

    We're having a baby!

I am 36 weeks pregnant. There are 21 days until my due date on July 26, 2009.

When I am very still I can sometimes see the rythmic patterns of my baby practicing breathing, though there is no air in baby's lungs, yet. Sometimes this breathing practice gives the baby the hiccups!
