Batter Bruised Content
Phew for a weekend full of nothing planned we had an amazing weekend. I mentioned on Friday we saw the most amazing house? We went to see it again to take a closer look on Saturday … yup still amazing. But complicated. Magical. Breathtaking. Complicated. So matches my life. The almost house that we saw in the beginning of our search sold. I thought I would be all torn up about it. Not at all. Yet to my surprise J was! I had thought he wasn’t fond of the house. House hunting is putting our communication skills to the test. In fact, psychologically I think this has been a greater challenge for me than all the moving was. Trying to work through my feelings, recognizing them for what they are, not what I want them to be. It is an interesting and exhausting process.
Besides house hunting, I did a lot of reading, cleaning, relaxing and enjoying the warm content feeling of being with my family. I allowed myself to break away from the computer. I did not read blogs, answer emails or manage anything online. It was lovely. Yet I am looking forward to refocusing and getting organized again
Last night as we ate our last bites of supper, we received a call from friends to see if we wanted to come out and play. All four of us brightened and sprang at the chance to escape. The weekend was rainy, blustery, cold and uninviting. Yet last night the cool air was enjoyable at the playground. We played, chatted and I watched as my children had MULTIPLE accidents! First Becca fell from the swing, Her hand had slipped, and in panicked state she hung on with the other as she was dragged through the gravel face down! I was with Ethan on the other side of the playground. I watched in agony as J picked her up and let her cry on his shoulder. She was battered but otherwise ok. She did not want him to tell me (as if I had not noticed!) because she was embarrassed that she fell off the swing. She is so growing up!
Ethan towards the end of our stay, proceeds to climb the smaller playground designed for wee ones, repeatedly up the stairs then down the slide. I am monitoring but not hovering, giving the kid some space to explore when suddenly, Ethan loses his balance falls backwards almost falling to his bum then tilted sideways FALLS from the bridge LANDS on his adorable face with his neck twisted at a HORRIFIC angle. I rushed to him (so did the other parent almost as quickly that is how scary the fall looked) I picked him up (then thought about his neck, YEARS of first aid training poof gone) snuggled him as he yelled in pain and anguish. Then moments passed he squirmed form my arms and ran to J to garble the story to him! Bruised but not broken!
Motherhood is rough yet lovely,
How was your long weekend?

Aha = I too have a blogroll now. Yes motherhood can be a bumpy ride, although this weekend went remarkably smoothly for us for one, with no permanent damage to any of the players.
Best wishes

Poor kiddos! My boys often look pretty beat up and usually have a bruise or two on their legs.
We hung around home this weekend and did a few of our endless list of house projects.

Poor Babies! I struggle sometimes to give the space that is needed when they are seeing how far they can challenge themselves! It often ends in accidents. Olivia so does that too - doesn’t want the other parent to know about her falls etc. I’m like, but I WANT to know!!

Ouch! Becca is growing up when the pride is more battered than the body. That’s tough on us. At home, James comes running for sympathy, but he hasn’t yet had the injury needing mom out. Luckily

Ouch. There’s not too much worse than hearing that cry of agony when a baby has fallen. Poor thing.
Hope he gets better soon. My weekend=very mellow.

What a great weekend! And as always, beautiful photos of your beautiful children.
I am sorry about the ‘almost’ house, but the perfect one is out there somewhere
One of the first houses we looked at I absolutely fell in love with, but the husband gave an emphatic “NO WAY!” I actually cried leaving it. I love the place I am now, but try not to think about the other house too often.
