Back to Reality

ahh that was nice. Diving head first into a story always replenishes my spirit. Now that the four books have been devoured I can step back into my life. Thankfully the books were written for teens so the read was quick, thrilling and not all that deep. It is easy now to come up for air :)

The children missed me :D They have been much more cooperative, attentive and pleasant. I think I should disappear much more often.

I am not that far behind on the home front. J allowed me the time to escape. It reminded me how much I like to escape into my own little world. Having young children does not allow that much, however a supportive husband is amazing. Since we moved so much I have been so lonely for companionship,  that inner desire to be cozy, curled up with a good book was pushed away so that I could force myself to get out there, meet the people. I have people now, the bonds of friendship blossoming in a healthy slow rate that does not make me nervous.

We are having friends over for dinner Saturday for the first time since hmmmm, holy moly…Since we lived in Canada 3 years AGO. Gosh we are lame. Granted we did not have the perfect set up in California to host dinner parties, but geez. I am thrilled to have our friends over, we are preparing California rolls and some other Japanese foods!! Our little apartment will be overflowing with kids and laughter! Yippee!

What is your favourite dish to serve to your dinner guests?

The last time I had dinner quests was to celebrate my engagement. It was a BBQ, so it was outside. We had steak and grilled talipia!

We need to do that now that we have the room to entertain.

I learned the hard way that trying a new recipe when having guests for dinner is not a good idea. Pick something that you like to cook and think it particularly tasty.

  4. I love escaping into a good book! I think I may start the Twilight series at some point; everyone has raved about it!

We don’t have people over often. Well, one crowd that comes on a semi-regular basis, I suppose. We usually BBQ.

A Little disapearing never hurts.. :) Makes folks look around and say *hey, where’s momma!*

    :)

I do it once in awhile.

Favorite dish to serve guests, it depends on what it’s for. If it’s formal it’s always turkey or ham dinners… otherwise, we LOVE BBQing steaks, corn on the cob and having salads. :) we are kinda boring…

Funny, we have the house (almost but not quite) specifically bought for entertaining but I can count on both hands how many times we have (in the almost 5 years!).
Oh, the things we would do if we were home!!

I always enjoy mixing up the menu. I do make sure that everything is scratch-made. I also make sure that I make at least one ‘regular’ menu item from back home!

Also, when we lived in Toronto and had parties the background music was always from the east coast. Since living here we always make sure that the music is Canadian!

Have fun! I’m so happy that you’re making friends!

I was eyeing that series, you have to tell me how they were. I am very interested to read but I don’t know it they’ll be in my book taste. As for dinner guests, when R and I have guests over it’s always go for what you know of course it usually ends up being something on the grill and the fact it’s always guys.

The last time I had a dinner party it was when I lived alone…

I confess I like to read teen books too. Or rather, I did. I don’t read many books these days, sigh….

I don’t have a company dish, but one time I outdid myself and offered my guests pork chops or Parmesan tilapia. Most people took both!

And I love to escape into a book. It is so calming, and quiet.

I am reading a not so calming one now…but I need to read it. It’s time. I’m reading “Motherless Mothers” by Hope Edelman.
