Have You Ever …
.. Had one of those days that never ends?
It is not a bad day. Rather it has been a fantastic day, full of creativity, laughter and fun. Yet it is still not over. I feel like we packed in a summer worth of activities in one day! It helps that it is a rainy day, keeping us indoors, only to face one another. I am going to be so ready for bed when the time comes.
I have been extremely busy with preparations for Becca’s fourth birthday. She is so into the planning process. We are making homemade playdough for her friends that attend the party, then she helped me design the Thank-You & Recipe card. We also worked on some bean bags today (made of my old socks! they turned out rather cute if I do say so myself).
(Becca is in love with the one in the front and has not put it down since I sewed it!)
Becca has received birthday packages in the mail, causing her to almost burst with curiosity. It is so cute to watch her anticipation build and that twinkle in her eye.
The house has been torn apart, put back together again and torn apart again so many times today my head is spinning. I am in awe how much the children have done.
(They look innocent enough don’t they?)
I apologize for my lack of presence out there, all this sewing, stitching, planning, cooking, baking, shopping … it is all keeping me very far from the computer, in fact I actually have UNREAD email (blasphemy). I am enjoying the children so much in this moment that it is consuming me. Life has never been this good, this easy, this amazing.

Have I ever? Guess I’m not that lucky.

I have to admit, that despite the usual battles, I’m totally loving my kids at the moment too …. it’s holiday time here, and I’m enjoying not being “timetabled”.
I love those bean-bags. We are busy planning a party too - too much fun!!
Sounds like a good day! It’s also good to hear that you’re getting rain…hopefully the heat will break afterwards
Wow, I’m trying to plan and get ready for M and K’s party too and I’m not feeling the love from them on anything.
I’m glad that you’re having such a great day.

What a great idea! I may have to steal that idea since it is a good therapy tool for Gabi.

You kill me with your talent. I am so un-creative and un-talented in the “make” stuff for my kids department. Good thing I had boys I guess b/c their dad can do that stuff. You know, my husband was nicknamed McGyver in the Army for a reason…he can take a bobbypin and make an airplane out of it. Just kidding, that’s an old joke I used to tell to people who claimed to like to watch that show. Anyway, you are talented and I appreciate all the help you have given me. You know I have a few more questions now that I’ve moved over to laughing squid but let’s wait til after the weekend and Becca’s big day before you try to teach me how to do something, lol..you know that hasn’t been an easy task.
That just reminded me of something really dumb. I was discussing your creative talents and how I have no such talents. And, I was really sitting here wondering if I have ANY talent at all that even remotely compares. And, then, when I mentioned you teaching me something about wordpress, I remember that yes, I do have a talent…my talent is teaching, (and you have that talent to, I’m just trying to make myself feel better).
Many of my employees have worked at other daycares and will often tell me that they never had a director give them so much information regarding children, ideas and ways to cope with different children with different attitudes anad such in a manner that will be conducive to everyone. So, maybe I do have some kind of talent, hehehe
So glad to hear things are going so well. The bean bags are adorable. I’m sure the party will be wonderful. Missing you already.

You are so far ahead of me; it’s only in the last year, once my kids hit 4 and 7 (and now are 5 and 8), that I’ve been able to really enjoy each day and them. Only now do I realize how stressed out I was in those early years. And to enjoy the house being pulled apart repeatedly? Yea, you’re made to be a mom.
