Crazy Busy

Written by Chelle on Friday, July 18th, 2008

So for real, I am having trouble keeping up this summer. The kids and I have been so busy, enjoying our new hometown, exploring, making friends, and adventures.

If I do not get Ethan out of the house daily, he digs in my plants and tears my apartment to shreds. The kid has so much more energy than Becca did at that age. Yet Becca had a mini backyard in California to play in where Ethan is trapped in our apartment. It may just seem different.

The Whale

We are in constant motion. This week we went to the Natural History Museum, the Library, an ocean beach and to various playground numerous times. We also visited our family doctor to discover the bumps on Ethan’s face, arms and back were NOT chicken pox, rather bug bites as we initially thought, then talked ourselves out of.

I miss quiet days of lounging about, however summer is so fleeting up north and really one must enjoy the weather while it lasts. Besides the children love the adventure and exploring. Winter will come and blanket our surroundings with snow, leaving us to be crafty, creative and bounce on our beds for hours and hours.

If I have not come by to your blog, returned your email/phone call, Facebook etc … please know that I want to and I will, just not yet. Let me check the forecast … a rainy day will work :)

The Park

All this time exercising is definitely cutting into the rest as well. I feel so good and it is starting to show (thanks for all the comments on our photo this week!) I run four nights a week and swim three. I have worked up to 50 laps in the pool in half an hour. My goal is 64 laps as that equals a mile (head games to keep it exciting). I had to switch it up, because my muscles did not like running every night. However for me, the every night thing matters. It cannot be random. I do take nights off but once a week max.

Sorry for the random, fly by post. I have like a dozen posts in my head, waiting for me to slow down and wirte them. I have pictures to share and ideas to express … just no time …

How is your summer going so far? Best yet? Need for improvement?

Summers seem to be that way… relax and enjoy the ride. :) Winter will be here soon enough, so we are trying to squeeze every bit of fun in that we can. This of course means that some stuff falls by the wayside, but memories are worth it.

I remember those frantic summer days; of course I had four little ones, three are boys. In ways I think four was better because sometimes they entertained each other.

A backyard makes a big difference too. We always, except for a few weeks here or there awaiting housing, had a backyard. We also had a small (not toy) dog in those days and dogs need fenced yards.

That’s great that you’ve been able to keep up your conditioning program. My poor bike is so un-ridden but life lately has had a series of micro-crises. I don’t even remember what normal should look like so maybe I just need to reinvent normal.

    Thanks for stopping by.

I love that picture of Ethan. I have been busy trying to get ready for school again. James has been having a tought time adapting to the time change, and maybe the lack of people? Funny, we were just saying how he’s grown so easy going :-) . We’re enforcing a strict bedtime to try to get him back on schedule.

    Enjoy your time!

    Sounds like your having fun!!!
Pretty much our summers consist of various trips to the in-laws as they live by an amazing beach and counting down the days until we go home!
I have a friend down now from back home so I’m trying to be a ‘hostess with the mostess’ as well!!!

i am crazy busy too. It’s good, but exhausting …. and I find that things I really want to do for selfish reasons slide. Regardless, it’s a great time to just sit back and enjoy the kids …… I am so jealous that it is summer over there. I’m over the rain!

I am so glad you all are enjoying the great weather. Preston is a lot like Ethan. He constantly wants to be on the go. Turns off the TV all the time and turns to us waving his cute little hand and says so adorably, “Bye bye bye bye.” It’s so tough to reprimand him for constantly turning off the TV when he does it so cute!

    Keep enjoying the summer!

Sound like there is lots to do up there. Francesco has to be on the go all the time too. When we are all home on the weekends we have to get him outside or he would be digging in the plants too. It’s been a heatwave here but it doesn’t slow him down, I wish I had the energy of a 2 year old.
I love the pic of Ethan, I like how the bars frame him and he looks so happy!

My goodness girlie! You are becoming the exercise queen! Next thing I know you’ll be doing Triathlons!

I love to run, but I swear, I ran for five minutes on the treadmill while I was in Missouri, and my shin’s started hurting. I ALWAYS get shin splints which is why I have stuck to the elliptical. You look fabulous, too!

I wish I could go on vacation somewhere this summer, but other than that, it’s pretty good…

Joey and I have been having an awesome summer so far. We have even been seriously blessed with the weather as every time we have something planned that involves being outside, the sun seems to shine for us! (Touch wood!) I finally feel like I have found my groove in London and we have been keeping busy seeing people and doing some cool stuff. He is also having a great time at nursery during the week and is getting progressively browner as they spent so much time playing in the garden there. They are religious with sunscreen but because of his colouring, he tans very easily. I am so relieved he doesn`t burn though as it would be tough trying to limit his time outside.

    Baby Soodz #3

    We're having a baby!

I am 36 weeks pregnant. There are 21 days until my due date on July 26, 2009.

When I am very still I can sometimes see the rythmic patterns of my baby practicing breathing, though there is no air in baby's lungs, yet. Sometimes this breathing practice gives the baby the hiccups!
