My Heroes
Hello Again! So sorry to have slipped away. I was off enjoying company with my Grandmother and Dad. We had such a lovely visit. It was marvelous.
I have to admit that this was the first visit (with any family really) that I did not feel like that shy, broken 7 year old girl I once was. I felt like an adult, with a family of my own. That I was sharing my world (which in fact I was). Did you ever feel that way with your parents/family? Like you finally were grown up?
We were so busy! We toured about Halifax with a vengeance the first few days. Then slowed our pace over the weekend, chilling out at home, watching the children play and chatting. My 86 year old Grandmother rocked the touring, playing and socializing! It was so fantastic to see her with the kids and enjoying our new home town!
The children were so lovely. Becca immediately ran to my Dad & Grandma and hugged them. Ethan a little shy at first, completely warmed up to both of them. He most of all, enjoyed performing for them. He would hide under blankets, dance, and chatter away. It was so beautiful watching him interact with them both. I do believe that Ethan is going to be a little lost today without them!
I miss my Dad and Grandma already. I had the opportunity to show off my newly found culinary skills, my crafts and share my world with them both. My Dad will be returning in the Fall for another visit, so I will have to hold out till then. Gosh, seeing my children with their Grandparents (and Great Grandmother!) brings me such joy. That connection to history and family is so amazing.
Now I have a mere week, to tidy up, play, reorganize and prepare for our trip to Maine! I am absoluting buzzing about that trip too. Life is grand.

Sounds and looks like a blast.
I’m happy you an the kids had fun

Hey, sounds like a lot of fun to me. I need a kick back weekend even though I did get one this past weekend, I simply want more more more.
I have the same experience whenever my mom comes out. It’s like I’m not pretending to be a grown up anymore, I really am one. I can’t stand it when she leaves. It’s so hard to do it all without her around to help.

I am still trying to get past feeling like a kid when I am around my parents. It is not so bad now that I have kids but when I was in college and then when I was newly married it was tough going.

How wonderful that your kids got to see their great grandmother! And your grand mother looks so happy. I’m sure she loved being there with those little ones and getting to see them in action. I hope you get many more visits with her.

What a wonderful time! I love the photo of bedtime stories - isn’t that so how it should be? Becca looks totally involved in the story!
What great pictures - you’re so lucky that your grandma could come!
Hey, have you noticed that the little dewey on your date stamp that goes around the number looks like a sperm?

So glad that you had a good visit! Nothing beats time with family. Nothing
Looks like a wonderful trip - have you heard of a site called grandparentgames.com. Its a great way to have your children, especially the young one who looks about the same age as my daughter, stay connected to your parents, grandparents! You both just need a web cam and voice connection and the site provides a bunch of wonderful educational simulations that keep the little ones entertained and the grandparents connected!
I so hope they enjoyed Halifax and you got to take them to some great places! Everyone looks like they’re having a great time. The pictures are awesome!
Sometimes it bothers me that Geordie is growing up without his grandparents around. He’s the exact opposite of me…I lived with my grandparents too close (right next door).
2 months from tomorrow my parents will be picking us up at the Halifax airport and Geordie will be running to them. Can’t wait!!! Doesn’t even bother me that I become second fiddle!
Maine…nice!!

I still haven’t felt ‘all grown up’ around my parents yet. I wonder if that will ever happen?
