How Do I Love Thee
I love Mondays. I know that is counter-culture, but alas I was meant to be different from the rest. Mondays are quiet, peaceful days. The craziness of the weekend behind me, I clean (a lot), reorganize our lives and fall back into familiar routines.
Weekends, although fabulous, are always full of craziness, rushing and activity. Becca went to her last soccer “game” this Saturday. She has come so far with the process and the coaches were totally amazing. We then headed to a local Asian store to pick up some goodies.
J & I prepared some delicious California Rolls, and other Japanese cuisine in honour of Father’s Day. We also picked up some crunchies and candy for the kids to try (note I do not know all the names and therefore being all vague). Becca gobbled up the Japanese cuisine (for the first time, previously turning her nose up at anything wrapped in seaweed!) She is totally growing up.
We also scored a second hand bike for Becca this weekend! It is a bit rusty & not totally what we wanted, but we girly’d it up and Becca is in love. My friend also scored us a dresser! We have a dresser!!! w00t! Sunday was dedicated to Becca’s bike, but seeing the joy on her face was so so worth it. I was happy not to have to buy a new bike (they are crazy expensive, not to mention the consume and discard factor). I had been searching for a decent second hand bike for months!
Becca wiped out once on the path (she had gained speed) but she got right back up and rocked the biking world. I am so proud of her. She has been a force to reckon with at times, then we have these amazing moments of clarity, joy and fun.
We purchased a helmet for Ethan, as he is now a proud owner of a tricycle. He was less than impressed to have to wear the helmet, but got used to it and enjoyed the ride. He also enjoyed following us, collecting dirt to add to the back bucket!
I owe J a relax and do nothing day, since yesterday was so hectic. He was spoiled with goodies, even a new pair of shoes and he was content to see his kids riding bikes, enjoying the outdoors and spending quality time all together. In two days my Dad and Grandmother will be here!! I am so excited (and have a ton of stuff to do!) How was your weekend?

Yeah on te new bike! That’s a great picture; she looks so happy.
James is starting to wonder how Becca has changed since he’s seen her, after all, he’s lost three teeth. I showed him the picture riding a bike and he said, “How old is she?!?!” I reassured him there were taining wheels (in the second picture) and he felt better :-).
That’s funny… I totally love Mondays for the same reason. Weekends are fun, but it’s nice to be able to have some peace and to get the house cleaned up again.
Cute that everyone is riding bikes.

Mmmmm sushi. I’m boring though, just the veggie kind for me. The “cups” of rice, I love those. What is the outside made off?? The ones I buy have a sweet taste to them, do yours? WTG on sushi Becca, my kids won’t touch it nor will Daddy so the apples didn’t fall far
Our weekend was nice. A bit rainy so it we watched a few movies and hung out.

YAY!!! Helmets!!! We only know of one other family who wear helmets here. Would you believe that you do not have to wear a helmet on motorcycles in S.C.?!?!?!

Isn’t it GREAT to find good second-hand things? I’m a member of Freecycle, which is a group where people post online things they want to get rid of, and people can also post their needs. So far, I’ve gotten some great stuff, including a great set of matching bookcases! (I also “won” an antique wrought iron stand, but couldn’t get it in my car. Sigh.) I’m not sure if Freecycle is in Canada, but it’s worth a Google…
