Do You Believe in Magic?
There has always been a part of me that does believe. I have always been attracted to literature that captivates my imagination, challenges me and inspires me. “What If” has always sparked my passion for reading and stories in general. When Source Books asked me if I would read and review The Fairy Chronicles, by J.H. Sweet I was over the moon with excitement.
These are so the kind of books I would have loved to have got my hands on when I was a child. The girls in the stories discover they are …. Fairies!!!! Can you imagine (hehe I can!), the adventure, the endless exploration, the oneness with nature. Every little girl’s dream, brought forth in this magical series.
Me being a sucker for all this magic, I thought I would put the books to the real test. So I loaned my copies to a nine-year-old girl. The next week, the girl came racing up to me with glee, rapidly talking about the stories and how much she enjoyed them! I was flabbergasted! The books were a big hit with this little girl. In fact her mom was totally impressed too. Nothing brings more happiness to a parent, than a child enjoying books!
The Fairy Chronicles, being all modern have a great, interactive and child safe website that the kids can explore (with their parents of course!). However, my most favourite part of these books was the information included in the back. At the end of every adventure there are facts related to the story about trees, how to recognize flowers, and interesting tid bits about insects and animals! That was also my daughter’s favourite part of the books too (she is a tad young for these). The illustrations are whimsical and fun (just as fairies should be!)
I am so excited that there are so many options out there for young readers. My daughter is positive that she will grow up to be a fairy (and a digger, hunter, scientist …). We are nature enthusiasts so all of this magical Fairy lore is fun to explore.
What is your favourite Fairy tale?
Has magic touched your children’s lives?
Have a fabulous weekend ![]()

My daughter M and I have been reading the Tinkerbell fairy books. I don’t know what they’re officially called, but I love how interested she is in reading.
Just like her mommy.
(Realizing I can no longer just say ‘my daughter’ since I have TWO daughters now!)

My 12 year old daughter has read every Harry Potter book, at least three times. She makes it challenge to herself. We have every Judy Blume book ever written sitting pretty in a bookcase made just for her, waiting for my youngest daughter to learn to read. Actually, this bookcase has SO many books and I’m so proud that ever single one has been read by my Alaina.
I can’t remember the name, but my favorite book as a little girl was about a little girl who was a witch and could go anywhere she wanted. I may do a search and see if I can find it. I wouldn’t mind reading it again.
And I would LOVE books about fairies!

Oh that looks like a fun book!
My girls love Harry Potter. I’m bad though while I have enjoyed the books the girls are about the movies, maybe when Kamryn is a little older we can read them.
Have a great weekend.

We’re big on magic here. James plays Harry Potter with his friends at park day even though he really doesn’t understand, having not read or seen them. A 15 yo girl helps him by giving him the names of spells so he can play too. Of course, he doesn’t like it so well when I cast stupefy on him
I got the book, Fairy Houses for Maine.

Actually I have always believed in fairies myself. I think Max is too young ti get magic but I think all kids see magic because there minds are still open and pure. Have a great weekend.

I like fairy tales, kids versions. I’m not big into adult version of it. I have no interest in Harry potter or any other Fantasy books my hubby may read. I like Fairies but that’s the extend of it.
It is good that there is a lot out there for the kiddos though, just ’cause i don’t like it doesn’t mean my kids shouldn’t.

I love fairy tales, but since having only one boy, we do not get many stories like that around here.
