Squeal w/ Delight …
… then blow my nose, hack up a lung, moan in despair ….
Cold & flu season is attacking us hard core. Must be germ free by Friday. Can one will illness away?
I finished the Valentine’s Day cookies, then collapsed into a puddle of mush. They turned out ok. The first batch I burned … even my husband (who will eat anything, really) turned his nose up at the crispy little guys
I became aware that the problem was me being overzealous with the rolling pin. I am so proud of me for trying to bake from scratch though. Yay me!
It was a day of kleenex and deliveries! I love getting mail (especially mail that is not a bill)! First delivery was a special gift from Marina!!! She sent me her old serger!!!! I AM SO EXCITED. I have the coolest, most thoughtful friends (even when they are not sending goodies)!!!! Now I just need to learn to use it and look out world, I will be serging up a storm! She also sent along some awesome books for the kids, the cutest napkins (that I forgot to photograph in my excitement) and some tea. The girl knows me so well. I so adore having tokens of my friendships here surrounding me in my present. It almost makes me miss them a little less … almost.
Then later in the day, we received ANOTHER package. This time, it was for Becca. Her Grandpa R sent her some very cool dinosaurs, animals from the Ice Age and a dinosaur egg. Becca was so excited! In fact she is playing with her dinosaurs as I work on this post.
Poor Ethan is sleeping. He feels like crud. His nose is running, he is coughing. Yet Becca and I are going to drag him to the library this morning. Sucks to be the second, younger, tag along kid sometimes. If he did not worship all that was Becca, I would actually feel bad for the kid. I have never seen admiration like Ethan has for Becca. And now that Ethan is less blob like and more fun, Becca is starting to put up with him more. She loves him, but isn’t really a fan of him touching her stuff, getting in her way or stealing an attention away.
If the library wasn’t hosting this Valentine’s Day party for the kids in story time I so would be in sweat pants, sipping coffee then curling up into a ball. The things we do for our kids. I am totally cranky too, so it is better that we are not home where I can be snappy and miserable.

I just love your blog, and the fact you post the pictures of you kids. It’s great! And you made HOME made cookies? That’s a feat in itself, especially with a sick little boy.
I’m sure they will have a blast at the library though. You are such a good mommy!
Love your cookie-baking montage. Sugar cookies are the worst for me to bake. It’s so much effort for such small results.
Great cookies!
Marina was just talking about your package yesterday (see the blog for the misdeeds after words). Glad to see it arrived; can’t wait to see you your sewing results.
Feel better.
Good job! I am SOOOO jealous that you have a serger! I’ve always wanted one. I think I’d sew more if I had one. I know what you mean about getting out where you can’t be miserable. Sometimes it’s good to fake it because it can actually make you feel better if you pretend you’re happy go lucky.
PS - My kids (well, the big one for now) are LOVING the knit balls and silk. So awesome.
I am envious of that serger!! I want one bad but really can’t justify the money.
I hope you feel better soon. I have tried willing sickness away but it does not work too well. My boys are sick with yet another cold. *sigh*
Even when you’re sick you’re cute.
Have fun!
Those cookies look yummy!
I’m sick too. It sucks! I love the thought of sweats and coffee - but life must go on and to kindy drop off and groceries I go!
Love the cookies ….. I totally need to get onto it!
Excellent! I’d love to make some cookies just like that!
Too fun! Sorry you are still feeling sick, but the cookies look great.
The cookies look yummy - wtg super mom! Now that you have a serger maybe you could try your hand at making and selling pouch slings, ring slings and mei tai’s on the web? There are tons of instructions for doing so online - and I promise to buy a mei tai from ya!
Yay for gifty goodies and baked-from scratch goodies! That was a phenomenal effort; they look too pretty to eat! I do hope your kids (and YOU) feel much better soon!
Mmmm cookies look yummy! Trying to decide if I’m going to make anything for Kamryn to take to school?? I have a fun thing I want to try, we’ll see.
Hmmmm curled up in sweatpants sounds like my kind of thing.
Those cookies look great. I WANT!!!!
What wonderful friends you have! I hope you and the kids get to feeling better soon. I’m dragging a bit myself, not from sickness rather lack of sleep. All this waiting and wondering about another foster placement has me tossing and turning at night!
Homemade cookies. Like with a rolling pin? I do not know such domestication…
Teach me, master.
Yea! I am so glad it made it in one piece :).
Those cookies look fantastic, great job Becca! (and mom)
They look yummy!
Coming to your blog always make me feel extra warm inside. I just love seeing the kid’s photos.
Gosh, we went through 2 months of being sick — It went around all of us like 2x each. Awful!
