The Grouch

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

BeccaI feel like crud. Again. ugh. I am getting sick of feeling sick. Seriously considering going to see the doctor. This is crazy. I have suffered for weeks upon weeks. I start to feel better then BAM sick … again. ugh. Ethan has the same cough and yuckiness. Poor kid. Becca has thankfully diverted this one so far.

I feel grouchy and disorganized. I hate that. Then because I am being grouchy and disorganized I feel worse. grr. This ugly cycle of sick to healthy to right back to sick better STOP.

Yesterday I posted a couple pictures of care packages I have received the past week. My sweet pal Sheila sent the books and Knit-a-pattern-a-day Calendar, totally making my day. Then Awesome Mom sent a Sock Dog, fire truck and YARN!!! The yarn is an alpaca blend that is incredibly soft. Thank you!!!

After pressing redial for HALF an HOUR I finally scored a spot for Becca in Kiddie Kickers. My girl is going to take SOCCER. I always wanted to play soccer, but never did. I was enrolled in soft ball instead (which I actually loved once I was not the worse player on the team, in fact I even stopped a soft ball with my eye, yeah so not athlete of the year!) She is super excited (yet it doesn’t start till the end of April). It isn’t a league or anything just an intro to the sport and fun times. I spoke with another mom today and she tried for an hour, then the class she was wanting for her son was FULL. I totally scored!

smoochJ is taking off for the weekend for a chemistry conference, then has work stuff Monday and Tuesday evening. I am not too concerned about being on my own with the kids yet I wonder how moms do it all the time. J will be traveling for work and attending conferences more. I remember the first conference he went on when we were dating. I cried and cried not sure how I was going to live without him near me. Now a days there is so much to take care of with the kids, before I know it he will have returned.

I am exhausted and ready for bed. I cooked up some refried bean enchiladas, special for J. I also baked muffins yesterday and cookies today. We have an unspoken tradition of baking for Daddy when he leaves on a trip. I would pack them in his carry on when he would fly off to interviews. Funny thing is, one time in the airport the drug dog hounded J, till they searched his bag … to find homemade cookies! hehe Ooops!

Ok We Need To Talk

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Dear Tampon User,

I get that you want to use Tampons. They rock the house being that they are effective and all. Can you do us all a favour please?

STOP WITH THE FLUSHING OF PLASTIC APPLICATORS

It is the grossest thing EVER to walk along the ocean, take a deep breath in to smell the ocean air then look down at a TAMPON APPLICATOR!

What the?

Ew …

“Mommy Look what I found .. a pretty white plastic thing!”

“PUT THAT DOWN”

ew ew ew ew

I know part of my gross out factor is that it is a TAMPON APPLICATOR … but seriously ew. Last time I had a period and used tampons (w00t for being pregnant and breastfeeding!) they had cardboard ones. You like ones that would dissolve and break down rather than stay on the beach FOREVER. Oh and another thing WHY ARE YOU FLUSHING IT?!?!? ew At least send it to the landfills not the OCEAN.

shudders!

Totally Grossed Out By Pollution,

Chelle

*I was so grossed out there is no photographic evidence at this time. Trust me it was gross.

What Time is It?

Monday, February 25th, 2008

j & bTime.

It goes so quickly.

I keep fighting it.

It is a losing battle.

My daughter says she has lots of time.

Ee & applenough to give away.

Yet I am always in a hurry to get things done.

“Hurry up … Come one Let’s hustle … GO GO GO!”

Why am I in such a hurry?

Must slow down.

I do not want to miss a thing … At least I have an extra day this year …

What a Week!

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

E & GrandmaSadly the visit with Grandma M and Auntie K has come to an end.

Some highlights from their visit –

  • Ethan took his first steps behind a push toy! He cruised along behind his firetruck. Awesome milestone to share with the family.
  • We went to the Farmer’s Market and Auntie K was able to find some vegan goodies to enjoy while she stayed with us.
  • We were able to enjoy the warm weather and go for a walk through Point Pleasant Park. All our snow was washed away with a rain storm, so we could see the park’s beauty.
  • We went treasure hunting at some of the local Antique stores. Both my MIL and I scored some goodies (more to come on that!! hehehe)
  • Becca and I spotted a Harbor Seal while on the ferry that goes to Dartmouth! It was so COOL!
  • We ate the yummiest Fish and Chips EVER! Mmmm just thinking about them makes my mouth water. We have to force Becca to eat some of her fries because all she wanted was fish!! She is so fitting into the Maritimes!
  • B & Aunt KBecca really enjoyed sharing her world with her Grandma and Auntie K. They read a ton of books, played hours and hours and already Becca misses them. Ethan was shy most of their visit, however he started to come around last night.
  • The children were throughly spoiled with adorable hand made stuffies from Auntie K, and many many books and toys from Grandma M. J & I stuffed ourselves with the goodies they brought and enjoyed being spoiled as well.

It is so nice that we are back in Canada, even though we are still far away. Visits hopefully will not be so infrequent. With J setting up his lab, going home will be difficult the next few years, so it is awesome tat our family can come see us.

Now it is back to business, cleaning up, reorganizing and preparing for spring. I really think the children and I will be ready to break out in spring and get more exploring in. There is still so much to discover here!
