Thank You

Written by Chelle on Thursday, January 17th, 2008

BecsFor all the thoughts you share, the hugs, the advice and just being there. You so totally rock.

Tomorrow is J’s birthday. The kids and I are going to pick up some birthday supplies, bake him a cake and make a special meal for him. There was suppose to be a scarf, the perfect birthday gift. Instead he will receive some yarn and an IOU … hehe. Since Beck pointed out that my Bear (aka J) shares a birthday with A.A. Milne, there will be a few special guests at the party. Becca is bursting with excitement with all the talk of a party.

I may have met someone. It is too soon to tell, but I may have met a potential friend. Her son is the same library program as Becca, she is really down to earth and friendly. I hope to ask her out next Tuesday. *giddy* Gosh I really hope I do not come across as desperate and lonely as I feel.

Friendship AwardSpeaking of friends, the ever wonderful JJ awarded me with the Colours of Friendship Award … I am so totally honoured. As a bonus she also posted a reminder for all of us to frisk the girls.

Yesterday’s photo was of our new plant that we purchased at the Farmer’s Market. I am so excited that I can slowly start a collection of plants and have no fear of having to give them up due to moving. Becca and I are even attempting to sprout an avocado plant. From what I have read they are great house plants.

EthanWhen in New Mexico, we bought the kids an inflatable jumping house. Becca loved the one at her friend’s house, so I knew it would be a hit and a great way to shake your sillies out on a cold day. Both Becca and Ethan love it, unfortunately Skippyjon also likes it and has poked holes in it! grrr! J has patched it, but I have learned my lesson and put it away as soon as we are done!

Ethan has been standing on his own for a few seconds. This kid is totally blowing my mind! He pulls himself up on EVERYTHING, just to do it. Plus, he is squatting up, not pulling up, so the object he is “pulling himself up on” doesn’t have to be anchored if you know what I mean.

So any tips on baking a cake from scratch? Now that the man got a “real” job I figure the boxed cakes are a little cliche :D

What? Cakes can be made from scratch?! MADNESS!!!

I wanna see your avocado plant and I want to know how you keep plants from dying. I would really like to have an indoor house plant but I’m that girl that can kill a cactus. Pathetic, I know.

Good luck asking the “friend” out! It’s so hard to make friends as an adult.

I can’t say that I bake cakes from scratch. I just buy the box mixes and call it home-made!

I only bake if it comes in a box or cookies from a log. I truly do not like all of those ingredients and measuring! lol Hope y’all have fun with the party and J has a happy birthday!!

    Look at Ethan!

Darren is the king of growing plants from discarded pits, avocados, mangos, pineapples (from the tops, and supposedly, if you put an apple in a bag after they’re about a year old, they will fruit, although I can’t promise you this magic in Canada, and we have never done it becase DH gets bored once the magic of the established plant has been born). Anything James eats now, he saves and says, “I’m going to grow this.”

The Hershey’s cocoa can here has a recipe for a one bowl chocolate cake that is easy and good. For frosting, you can’t miss with buttercream. Or, google chocolate and forsting or maybe icing and tofu. I know, tofu, but I don’t eat tofu and I could (do) eat this stuff with a spoon. And it’s healthy, right? he he he

Oh, watch for chopsticks and the bouncer too. I know a responsible parent wouldn’t let the words bouncer and chopsticks and the same sentence. I’m just saying, besides the obvious dangers, holes will be caused.

Lol it sounds like you are getting ready to ask that woman out on a date. I know how you feel though and how great it is to hit it off with someone. Have fun with the cake. I have made a carrot cake from scratch and it was super easy.

That recipe is an awesome first-time cake recipe - although cake is pretty easy, once you realize that you just carefully follow the instructions.

Yay for having plants again! I forgot mine at the house and DH is having to give it away. :(

I have no idea how to make cakes from scratch…

I just made a cake today! Find an easy recipe without a lot of ingredients. And when you mix the butter and sugar together, do it until your arm almost falls off!

I *love* that picture of Ethan!
