GIDDY!
I swear I am more excited for Christmas than Becca! And she is excited!! I have always liked Christmas, however having children makes it even more wonderful! So I am all giddy will excitement. One more week! Wasn’t the Santa Speaking moment cool? I seriously tear up thinking of Becca all shy and excited talking to Santa!
As promised, I thought I would share with you a few of my favourite things, just in case you scrambling last minute and need some ideas
The Daring Book for Girls is absolutely FABULOUS! I received this from Harper Collins and starting flipping through I was so thrilled to see so many wicked cool topics! We really enjoy The Dangerous Book for Boys, but The Daring Book for Girls is ever BETTER! I want a little time to practice so I can tie my hair back with a pencil, I want to build a flower press with Becca and so much more. I could not recommend the book more for all the amazing girls in your life (young and old in my opinion).
For the boys in your life, I would recommend some cute little cars. Ethan has a thing for anything with wheels. I am not one to “gender-ize” my kids but the boy like trucks and cars (Becca is charmed by dinosaurs and will not play with dolls of any kid, go figure!) I prefer toys that are not characterized so they are open to the child’s imagination, so we purchased a few of these for our little guy.
The kids are also getting some more animals, as Becca cannot seem to get enough of them. She plays with her growing collection daily, rotating which animals, depending on her mood. Although cats are her true love and unfortunately I am having trouble finding some here in Canada.
As for the men in your life, once you figure out how to buy for them, please let me know
J is so hard to buy for sometimes. I cannot reveal what I purchased this year just yet but books are always a hit with my husband (if I can find ones he likes! Have you ever looked at the science section of your bookstore!?!)
Knitters can always use more yarn and needles. Swifts and ball winders are groovy. Containers, storage and bags are handy too! I dream of a serger some day, as I want to dabble in more sewing. Books about any craft would make them smile with delight.
I cannot believe I have one more thing to prepare for gifts
I am so thankful that I started in the US, especially without a car here. Are you all done your shopping?

I love that book too.
I am reading it myself first and highlighting all the fun things I remember as a kid. Then, I will share it with Fa.
Too cool!
Oooh, I’ll have to check out that book.
Emma likes wheels too, I know she’s getting The Little people’s garage from my sister/brother in law, lol.
I bought Eric a couple books (Chef Ramsey cook book & Stephen Colbert book) along with a nice chef’s knife and a baseball hat.
Yup, we’re done shopping here & as usual, I’ve gone over board.
I totally agree with you on the giddyness aspect. I can’t wait till Nate opens all his presents.
yesterday i got him a new toothbrush & bubble bath & he was so excited & saying ‘thank you! thank you!”, i was thinking geez, you will be super excited when you get your gifts, lol.
I love both those books. Amen!
I bought the BG a new softer than soft housecoat and some slippers to lounge in while he’s helping me with baby, and also a few small tools (to complete my to do list, of course) and a digital photo keychain. J would probably especially like the keychain with pics of you & the kids.
Evan and Harry love those cars. I love that they are nice and quiet when we take them to church. No clinking on the backs of the pew. lol The things you discover when you are a parent.
I got those books for my kids for Christmas. Shh!
I got Thunderstruck by Eric Larson and a book on WWI for my dad, and James Lileks new food book, the DVD of It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad World and the new Far Side desk calendar for my husband. Oh, and a new hooded sweatshirt. DONE!
I thought I was done Christmas shopping. Darren and I just do stockings really. And then I wrapped some of the presents, and realized, other than a giant sausage, I really have nothing for his stocking. I knit everything for him and Jamie’s not really going to buy that Santa knit the same exact item I did, hmm. So, Darren has requested a rechargable, 90 degree, wrench? I have a picture. Wrenches come in rechargable? He said something about a drill press would be nice to make my swift better, and they make them small and large. How small are we talking? Christmas should not mean a trip to Home Depot.
No, while we aren’t done with shopping we are not getting too many things. We’ve been pairing down the gifts for a few years and it just feels right.
Little lady is dying for a watch and costume dresses. I’m so excited she has found her inner girl. It is just hysterical to watch.
The Daring Book is really great isn’t it?
Why are men so hard to buy for? I actually can usually figure something out for my husband, but my dad, brother, uncles? UGH.
that book is on my to read list! That was really neat to hear the phone call from Santa; you could tell she was just in awe! Looks like you got such a fun package from your swap partner!
Am still going with the shopping! I thought I had finished and yet, there’s still more to do! I keep forgetting the odd person - not a good thing to do!
Some great ideas there! I know what you mean about hubby - mine is the hardest person to buy for (unless we’re talking about spending thousands of $$$$).
I don’t drop by before Christmas or just after (we’re going away) I hope you and your gorgeous family has a wonderful Christmas and New Year!)
