ahhh Boxing Day
Traditionally I have a Christmas Day post …
The day escaped me.
With a whirlwind of wrapping paper, potential choking hazards, calls to family back home, meals, drool and new toys … the day escaped me.
It was a wonderful Christmas. I am glad that Ethan was able to experience his first Christmas in Canada. Becca would have been happy with the first three gifts she opened from us.
(Note to self buy less)
When we found out we would be returning to Canada by Christmas, I was excited that once again we could enjoy Boxing Day holiday and of course sales.
Wait.
NO SALES?
The stores are all closed today as they were yesterday. This is a city that just allowed Sunday shopping last year! Before that … no quickies to Sears for underwear, it had to wait till Monday. I am thankful that there is so much respect for families here. Really I can wait one more day
J & I shared a big present … We purchased a rocker/recliner for the living room. It is a wonderful chair. Something I have longed for since I was pregnant with Becca, but always on the move we could never justify another piece of big furniture to move around. It truly is perfect, for snuggling with the kids, nursing, reading stories, knitting and relaxing.
Becca adores all her presents (phew … am I the only one that frets over presents?) Her Auntie Kristie made her the coolest purse ever! I will have to take pictures! Grandma and Grandpa M gave her a Fur Real … a little Tiger that meows and acts all “real” (and many more books, a Pooh bear etc). It is a huge hit! Las minute I had picked up some Playmobile and Becca loves it. Grandpa R’s present is in transit. The kids are getting Brio train sets!!! Becca loves putting the tracks together and has expressed interest in more tracks for her three engines! There is so much more … Including the umbrella and rain boots, which Becca was “Singing in the Rain”. My in-laws also sent to most amazing sketch of the kids … again must take a picture. It is so beautiful!
I am sure glad it is all over and we can get down to preparing for J starting work and “living” life on the east coast. Maybe just maybe our car will join us at some point ![]()
How was your Christmas?

It all sounds amazing and wonderful. And there is real joy in your voice Chelle.
You gotta love Brio. We still have the kids that we keep here for the granddaughter and we let her open some add-ons that we’ll keep here for her visits as well.
Our cat steered clear of crinkling paper and all those extra feet. When the company left, and the rest of us curled up with books or movies, she slunked out and curled up under the tree. It’s her favorite place.
Hooray for good Christmases!
My kids are bored already. Argh.
I’m glad you had a great Christmas… I have no idea how you handle all of the moving aorund so easily - we’re being re-located to Ireland for 5 mos and I have no idea what or how to pack!
sounds like it was a wonderful Christmas; sorry you still didn’t get to go out shopping the sales though!
Merry Christmas! Hope you enjoy Boxing Day, too. I kind of wish we had it here as well.
Your xmas sounds wonderful. I’m so glad you’re happy and home. love you!
Glad you had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was great too!
Yay for an awesome Christmas! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it. Merry Boxing Day!
Cute! I’m glad you all had a nice Christmas.
Yeah, I heard about that province only allowing sunday shopping recently. Sorry you didn’t get to go Boxing day shopping.
I make that mental note to myself every year but a year is a long time & by the time i start shopping for following Christmas, I forget my mental note, lol.
Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas!
I’m glad you had such a nice Christmas. It’s so nice you can be back home in Canada to enjoy Christmas with the kids. We don’t have Boxing Day in the states.
Christmas sounded awesome!
I did Boxing day shopping once, and haven’t been back LOL. They showed WEM on the news and it was literally shoulder to shoulder UGH.
Playmobil rocks. I would like it for MY gift some year.
You sound wonderful–and great idea on the recliner/rocker!
That is an awesome umbrella. Jamie loves umbrellas. In any weather he grabs the umbrellas and heads outside.
The kids must be excited to spend Christmas away from home. This reminds me of me when I was a kid. I always looked forward to spending it with my dad’s relatives which is a hundred miles away from home. Love the expression on their faces. Wishing you a fun-filled New Year’s celebration.
May your lives be blessed as you see God bring forth new things in the coming year.
Cheers to 2008!!!
