Sweet Escape
TWO AND A HALF WEEKS.
hehe I am excited. Oddly the feeling of anxiety and stress is gone. I feel like everything will get done (really does it ever not get done?) We booked our flight to Halifax the other night. Then it truly sunk in that we are leaving on a jet plane!
Poor Ethan. The four teeth on the top are torturing him! The two front teeth are ready to burst onto the scene and those side ones, already through. He is up on his hands and knees, then flops back to his tummy. Very frustrating time for all in his life.
Becca is starting to get anxious about the move. I am hoping my pure joy & excitement will spread like wild fire. We were talking yesterday and I asked her how she was feeling … “Scared Mommy, Charisma died when we moved” EGADS. After months of no accidents she had two yesterday. Her mind is on the move.
I have been trying to keep her busy. She helps me pack, and has been really creative as of late. The picture today is fun with shaving cream! hehe. I had read it in a kid’s activity book months ago, bought the cream and never followed through. That is one thing about moving, you get done all the things you had planned. She had a blast covering her cars, ponies and Pooh bear in the “snow” then we scrubbed clean the table.
Tables get gross with kids.
I am also trying to alleviate her stress about Skippy the cat. I knit him a mat and we purchased an uber carrier with stuffed mice to keep him cozy. There is not a lot on the world wide web about traveling with a cat. Seems people just don’t do it very often.
We are off to the library today. Little sweet escapes, I hope will help keep the mind off the fear. Becca is so much more aware of the concepts behind moving and all that is involved now. This is so our last move. This is good.

Woo hoo!!! 2.5 weeks, yikes!
I can totally understand Becca’s anxiety. Yup, her cat died, she now has a new cat, is he going to die too?
I’m sure he’ll be fine but in a little girl’s mind…
I know you totally understand her as well.
poor Ethan, hope those teeth pop thru soon, poor guy.
Emma has been bothered by some teeth for past 2 nights & i’m not sure which ones, I can’t see them. It’s either her 4th on top or 1 of her back teeth. I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
Enjoy the library!
The wonderful thing about young kids is that they are so resilient. Next month she’ll likely be in love with her new home and you’ll wonder what you were worried about.
You’re brave with the shaving cream. We only do that in the bath tub here!
The last move…unless you can move west?
Poor Becca. I can totally see how she connects them. It will be good when it’s over and she can relax. You’re taking the cat inside the plane right? He’s young, a rescue, he’ll recover. But do keep him in the plane if at all possible (and check to see what proof of shots you need for the airline). Oh, and get him used to his carrier so he’s not freaking and they might feel the need to take him (?).
That time went so fast. You must be excited!
That shaving cream looks lovely!!!!
I know she’ll be okay with the move, you’ll help her through…
Teething sucks…so does smacking the teeth…Why are teeth all around so difficult?
Does the airline allow him to be under your seat? That might help alleviate her anxiety if she knows she’ll be able to check on him and maybe sing to him so he knows she’s there?
What a great pic - and idea! I’m gonna give that one a go (maybe outside!)
I’m sure your excitement will very definitely rub off on Becca! Wow such a short time to go!
The shaving cream looks like a great idea! I’ll have to try it out with my little guy. Glad to see you all are better. :o)
Oh, those pictures of Becca and Ethan are adorable!
I’ll have to try the shaving cream idea.
I’m glad you’re excited about your upcoming move. Although it might be stressful for Becca, I’m sure she’ll be very happy once you’ve moved and settled in your new home!
No KIDDING that tables get gross with kids! Ours was nice only one short year ago and now it’s all paint-stained and gnawed-up. Lovely.
I’m sorry to hear that Becca is scared about the upcoming move… poor lil’ thing.
The shaving cream looks so fun to play with! It’s good that she is excited, and understandable to be nervous. Tables totally get gross! We are actually getting rid of ours before we leave here.
I hope the teeth pop through soon!
Poor little Becca. Change can be hard on kids, but she will be okay. She’ll catch your excitment. I pray for traveling mercies for your family. The shaving cream looked like so much fun.
FYI… I’ve taken my cat on a plane before (under the seat). The airplane ride part wasn’t so bad, but do expect a few nasty looks from fellow travelers who are allergic to cats. Here’s the bad part. They make you take your cat OUT OF THE CAT CARRIER and carry them in your arms through the security check point. I was not warned about this. A cat harness and leash might be a good investment in case your cat decides to take off at this point. (Although mine clung to me, so you might get lucky.)
You must be so excited. I can’t imagine how I would feel being that close to moving back home. Maybe it is because so much is up in the air here. Maybe I need to shaving cream my table- that looks like tons of fun and I’ll bet the table was so shiny after clean up.
oh that would have broke my heart with Becca associating the last move with Charisma dying
Looks like she really enjoyed the shaving cream fun though!
I have always enjoyed reading your posts and going through all the pics of Becca and Ethan.
Will be waiting for more photos of your trip. Take Care!
What a great idea…will have to give it a go, my kids would LOVE it!
