Wedding Bells

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Chelle & JJJ tagged me for the 8 Facts Meme, Wedding edition (the tag was weeks ago sorry) …. so here we go …

1. Six years ago today I married my best friend.

2. That is what it said on the matchbooks “Today I Marry my Best Friend”. Yup we had matchbooks.

3. J’s best friend delayed his backpacking trip to Australia so he could be J’s best man.

4. A couple of J’s friends that it would be “funny” to “borrow” one of the trees from the reception hall. He had one of those old school vans. The treespruced it up.

5. We had a karoke machine at our wedding. My Dad’s rendition of “Who let the dogs out” will never be forgotten.

6. After we had photos done, on our way to the reception, we were starving. SO the entire wedding party stopped at McDonald’s for a snack. A few people stopped us to have their picture taken with the crazy bride at McDonald’s.

7. After attending one of those massive Bridal shows, I got a call claiming I won a trip to Vegas. I thought it was my BFF teasing me. It wasn’t. We went to Las Vegas for free for our honeymoon.

8. The gift of the year was the George Foreman Grill. We received five of them. We kept two. We still use the one ALL the time.

The Family

Normally I would have a bunch pictures from the magical day to post, however they are all packed away. Instead, these photos where taken today :)

Please feel free to tag yourself for this one (no time to link to the people sorry)

The Little Man

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Mommy and EthanSadly, the seven month mark for Ethan went unnoticed by us till the next day. With sick kids and the move, time is passing at a weird rate. Sometimes it feels as though the move date is forever away, then other moments seem to slip by.

Ethan … what a baby! He is so darn stinking cute! I know I am biased but for real he is cute!

He eats solids, sometimes. Still preferring to breast feed, which is fine with me. I am in no hurry to end that relationship with him. We will be trying out the store bought varieties in the coming weeks, since steaming and pureeing our own will not be doable on the road.

He slept the entire night in his crib last night! That is the first time since J arrived home from his interview in Halifax. It was odd. Nice to spread out, roll around without fear of smooshing the kid, but lonely too. It is good for him to have a little independence though.

Ethan is scooting all over the place … backwards. He is pulling himself up onto his knees but cannot coordinate it all to move forward. He gets super annoyed with it too! It is cute.

He has a fiery personality. Ethan knows what he wants and will not be satisfied till he gets it. Becca was never one to exert her own will like this one. He is going to give me a run for my money. Becca is so much like J, laid back & quiet. I wanted a kid that was like me. I think I got one :) Ethan lives with emotion and passion.

Just a side note on the moving jazz … The university approved almost all the expenses, so we are going to proceed with the moving company (different one from last time!) and fly to Halifax at the beginning of December. To cut some of the cost out of our pocket, I am going to pack all our stuff (we saved all the boxes, yup we are smart). I have like 15 boxes packed already, so I am sure I can pull it off. As long as no one gets sick. NO ONE can get sick again. Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary, so look for a walk down memory lane. Becca is feeling much better too!

Full Throttle

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

BeccaDespite the fact that both my kids, and now my husband are sick, I am in full throttle preparing for the move.Becca has lost her voice almost completely. It appears as though she is on the up swing though. It has almost been a week of feeling yucky, the poor kid. This is by far the sickest she has ever been. Very frightening for a parent. Yet it appears to be nothing more than a hard core cold. The climate is very dry here. We have been trying to moisten the air for a few weeks, since this all began with Ethan. He is still spewing out green boogers, but is in good spirits. I am sure I have not seen this much snot since I was a kid!

In preparation for our move, I have wrapped, labelled and boxed all the Christmas presents. There are a few from the fat guy that will be hidden in suitcases in case of an emergency (aka the movers do not appear pre-Christmas). We have yet to hear from the university if all the moving costs will be covered due to the distance and timing of the move. I am anxious to book flights and the movers! We have secured a lovely apartment, so I can proceed with phone, internet hook ups and address changes.

EthanI am trying desperately to be organized. I have a hundred lists floating about.

Above all else I am FREAKING excited! Ethan’s first Christmas will be in Canada. We are heading home. So despite all the chaos, if I can just keep it together for a month, we will be outta here!

I had a minor major melt down down on Saturday, feeling overwhelmed and really stretched thin. In seven months I have given birth, said good bye to two of the greatest women I have ever met, celebrated my first born’s third birthday, moved to another state, lived without furniture for ten days, adjusted to living on top of a mountain in the middle of NOWHERE, injured my foot terribly, my beloved cat died due to anxiety of moving, I have walked everywhere no longer having the freedom of a car and those things are just off the top of my head!

I have also learned that I am an awesome mom. Any self doubts I have had before are disappearing as I watch Ethan and Becca grow. I have lost 28 lbs (2 lbs shy of pre-pregnancy weight). I have celebrated my husband’s success in landing his dream job. I have knit. I have read great books. I have met good people.

I have not been able to keep up with my blog reading with the kids being sick. I will stop by your place soon, promise :)

Sick … So Sick

The kids are sick.

It started with Ethan. Now Becca is barking, crying as she coughs, fever … so sick.

I slept with her last night. She would wake up full of anxiety because she was struggling to breath. Heartbreaking.

Welcome

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Becca and Ethan HalloweenHI!!! Welcome to November. No I am not participating in NABLOPOMO … gosh I will be lucky to survive this month without any extra pressure. No, this is our last month living in the US!!!!! One more month and we are heading to CANADA!!! I think it is finally settling in. I have been working on moving details so much that I lost sight of the end deal!! HOME! Not to say our adventures in California and New Mexico (well more California) and friends haven’t been fabulous! Just want to be where “eh” is natural and “zed” is the last letter of the alphabet (before you all corrupt my sweet kids). Many congrats to Deb of Mom of 3 Girls, as she is the winner of the Grand Prize of the Flickr Pro Account for one year!!! (I will be emailing you later today) Halloween was wonderful. Becca, Ethan and I went out to the post office then to the library in the morning. The afternoon, there was much too much excitement to do much of anything. Becca could hardly wait for Daddy to come home! Trick or Treating went well and Becca scored.Ethan has been scooting!! Well backwards. He cannot seem to get his legs below himself to go forward, but it is a start.Becca had a rough night last night. I think a combination of too much sugar (she rarely gets treats like candy so even the two pieces she had was an overdose) and all the Halloween images in her head. This morning she feels terrible and is so stuffed up she cannot even blow her nose. Ethan had a runny nose earlier this week, so I guess it is making it’s rounds. w00t November is HERE!
