Did You Miss Me?

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

BeccaOh gosh this move is kicking my butt! I have never slacked this much in the blogging, like EVER! *sigh*

Ethan is starting to feel better. We no longer live with a seal. w00t. Now his front teeth are driving him mad, making him cranky and clingy. I can hardly wait to snuggle up with my kids in Canada and not a care in the world.

We sent off all presents, cards and letters (except for a few special cases). It feels good to have that taken care of. We have also been packing fiends. We may just have this all done in the week and a half we have left before the moving truck arrives.

I have been a knitting fool too. Whipping out projects like there is a knitting ban in Canada. Odd. I think it is stress relief for me. Now if only taking pictures of all the projects was a relief too I could share it with you all.

I have yet to completely lose my mind, although I have come close a few times.

I am ready.

I am ready not to move anymore. To settle down, raise the family. Knit. Read. Sleep.

I am so ready.

Bark George Bark

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Do you know that story? When Becca was a baby I took her to a Story & Music time at the local library. We sung songs and the librarian taught the mothers how to be better story tellers. I never realized at the time, how many stories I would tell to my children or how valuable that skill would be.

Bark Bark Bark, is that is how Ethan spent his night.

Poor poor sweet baby. J would get up with him, start the shower and douce him in the steam for a few minutes. Ethan would eventually stop panicking, relax and his lungs would clear. They would return to bed, I would nurse Ethan back to sleep. Repeat.

Today marks two weeks until the movers come to pick up our gear. Thank goodness for American Thanksgiving, so J can help me finish packing! I set up our phone, an appointment for internet to be connected and our power for our new apartment yesterday. I am so relived that we are not arriving in Halifax then looking for a place.

Ethan is barking again …. it is going to be another long long day …

Deflated

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Ethanok remind me never to blog before going downstairs for breakfast again. I had a great song playing in my head, I practically skipped downstairs ready to drink my coffee and I spot Ethan …. He looked terrible!

I thought Ethan’s discomfort and extra sleeping yesterday was from merely teething. Alas, no. The kid did not get the memo that sickness is banned in our house! grrr! So the virus that attacked Becca’s vocal cords is now attacking Ethan’s. Poor baby. His voice is all horse and it comes out as a squeak! It is a cute squeak that makes me giggle and if my timing is right, Ethan will giggle too. Poor Poor Baby.

Since this illness was extremely harsh on Becca, I thought it best to take Ethan to the doctor to make sure it was indeed a virus and not a need drugs sort of thing. For the past three weeks this virus has been torturing the children up on the Hill. Yuck! So we are cool misting it, keeping his fever down and trying to make him comfortable.

Having a sick baby seems worse than having a sick preschooler. I felt like I abandoned Becca today, leaving her to fend for herself. That is a horrible feeling. So since we did not make it to the library today, I hope to escape with them both tomorrow.

BeccaThis is going to sound so evil, but I really do not have time for this. I will obviously be uber Mommy to sick Ethan, but oh my gosh I feel like the cosmos are out to break my spirit. Just when I turn things around and get all spirited again, something else happens to bring me down. This has been the cycle since we moved to this forsaken mountain. Sigh.

Congrats to Urban Mummy, the winner of the “I Love You More” book! Thank you to everyone that entered! I am still trying to keep up with all your blogs , all the while packing, helping blow noses and wrap Christmas presents. Miss you all and look forward to a peaceful life again.

Sweet Escape

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

SnowTWO AND A HALF WEEKS.

hehe I am excited. Oddly the feeling of anxiety and stress is gone. I feel like everything will get done (really does it ever not get done?) We booked our flight to Halifax the other night. Then it truly sunk in that we are leaving on a jet plane!

Poor Ethan. The four teeth on the top are torturing him! The two front teeth are ready to burst onto the scene and those side ones, already through. He is up on his hands and knees, then flops back to his tummy. Very frustrating time for all in his life.

Becca is starting to get anxious about the move. I am hoping my pure joy & excitement will spread like wild fire. We were talking yesterday and I asked her how she was feeling … “Scared Mommy, Charisma died when we moved” EGADS. After months of no accidents she had two yesterday. Her mind is on the move.

I have been trying to keep her busy. She helps me pack, and has been really creative as of late. The picture today is fun with shaving cream! hehe. I had read it in a kid’s activity book months ago, bought the cream and never followed through. That is one thing about moving, you get done all the things you had planned. She had a blast covering her cars, ponies and Pooh bear in the “snow” then we scrubbed clean the table.

Stuck!Tables get gross with kids.

I am also trying to alleviate her stress about Skippy the cat. I knit him a mat and we purchased an uber carrier with stuffed mice to keep him cozy. There is not a lot on the world wide web about traveling with a cat. Seems people just don’t do it very often.

We are off to the library today. Little sweet escapes, I hope will help keep the mind off the fear. Becca is so much more aware of the concepts behind moving and all that is involved now. This is so our last move. This is good.

Love You More

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Our wedding anniversary was wonderful. I was surprised with roses! In a gorgeous purple juice container! Poor J, I had packed the vase away already. The roses are no less beautiful. I also received a very cool bag (I (heart) bags). J is now the owner of a new watch (I think this is the fourth one I have bought for him!) We went to the Santa Fe Market then off to run errands. In the evening the four of us dined at a fancy cafe up here on the Hill. Becca and Ethan were both on their best behaviour all day, making it perfect. We were even able to watch a movie this evening! We lead such exciting lives … hehe!

I Love You MoreWith all the love, I thought I would share with you a really neat book that was sent to me by Source Books, “I Love You More” By Laura Duksta . Becca and I have read through it a few times already. It is a great curl up and snuggle book. Becca really liked all the different themes (animals, bugs, the ocean) on each page, giving lots to discuss. She was not entirely thrilled to flip the book over for another version of the story, but being Three, she is routine orientated. Once it was explained it was the boy’s turn she was cool with it.

Here’s you chance to win a copy! Share with me in the comments how you and your kids (or pets!) show each other you love each other and you will be entered to win a copy of “I Love You More”. A special Thank you to Tony & Source Books for the opportunity to review & giveaway such a wonderful treasure. A winner will announced by Wednesday :)
