Deflated

Written by Chelle on Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Ethanok remind me never to blog before going downstairs for breakfast again. I had a great song playing in my head, I practically skipped downstairs ready to drink my coffee and I spot Ethan …. He looked terrible!

I thought Ethan’s discomfort and extra sleeping yesterday was from merely teething. Alas, no. The kid did not get the memo that sickness is banned in our house! grrr! So the virus that attacked Becca’s vocal cords is now attacking Ethan’s. Poor baby. His voice is all horse and it comes out as a squeak! It is a cute squeak that makes me giggle and if my timing is right, Ethan will giggle too. Poor Poor Baby.

Since this illness was extremely harsh on Becca, I thought it best to take Ethan to the doctor to make sure it was indeed a virus and not a need drugs sort of thing. For the past three weeks this virus has been torturing the children up on the Hill. Yuck! So we are cool misting it, keeping his fever down and trying to make him comfortable.

Having a sick baby seems worse than having a sick preschooler. I felt like I abandoned Becca today, leaving her to fend for herself. That is a horrible feeling. So since we did not make it to the library today, I hope to escape with them both tomorrow.

BeccaThis is going to sound so evil, but I really do not have time for this. I will obviously be uber Mommy to sick Ethan, but oh my gosh I feel like the cosmos are out to break my spirit. Just when I turn things around and get all spirited again, something else happens to bring me down. This has been the cycle since we moved to this forsaken mountain. Sigh.

Congrats to Urban Mummy, the winner of the “I Love You More” book! Thank you to everyone that entered! I am still trying to keep up with all your blogs , all the while packing, helping blow noses and wrap Christmas presents. Miss you all and look forward to a peaceful life again.

Darling the cosmos never give us more than we can handle. I hope Ethan feels better soon and you are all able to get some fresh air.

Ooohhh poor things! You really are having a run of it. I know what you mean about Becca fending for herself - it so seems to be the way with the older one, even though they probably don’t mind, you feel helpless! I hope this passes really quickly! and that that song gets going in your head again!

    Oh Poor little man.

Just take care of your babies and yourself…

    RAWR … That totally sucks.

Hey - that’s a super adorable picture of Ethan, though. I can’t wait until my little Rebecca starts smiling that big! And Becca’s hair is getting OH SO LONG.

Please remember that your kids know that you love them immensely and that you’re doing your very best. Don’t be so hard on yourself…. I could never go through half of what you’ve gone through with all your moves and whatnot. Hang in there!

I agree, a sick baby is worse than a sick preschooler…the babes can’t make it to the toilet to purge their tummies, and they don’t understand the whole sick thing. It’s hard on everyone!

    Hope Ethan is better quickly!

Read Ann Lamott’s “Traveling Mercies”. She talks about when things keep breaking down it might be to keep you from meddling in something that’s about to happen. The book is a fast read; and I’m sure your library has it.

If you can’t leave the house to get that but desperately need a laugh I recommend this forum; I will email the link.
