sigh

Written by Chelle on Friday, October 19th, 2007

Sure I look Cuteok yeah I have all these grand plans … then all hell breaks loose. I will announce winners and post another part of the contest tomorrow. After a much needed sleep.

J received the offer letter from the university! YAY!

We are gathering quotes for moving companies. In hopes we can fly. We have to get approved for extra costs.

We found out that our little American (aka Ethan) cannot travel by air to get to Canada. The little guy forgot to apply for a passport.

Wait he can’t apply for a passport because he needs proof of Canadian Citizenship. That takes 6 - 10 months from the US.

I really really like the kid and want to bring him along.

After a few calls … the kid can apply for a US passport, fly home THEN you know make it all official that he is Canadian. (we applied for the passport this morning, paid an insane amount extra to have the US passport asap)

We almost had to fly to a border town, hop over then fly to Halifax. Ethan and I would do that alone, Canadian Airlines do not allow pets on the plane.

I was going to take Ethan and do a house hunting trip to Halifax. Now I am back to looking online and sending links to anyone and everyone we know that is, has been, or knows anything about Halifax for advise. One place I looked at was like total GHETTO, another I was told I would RUN to the car …  yuck. Being a university town rent is totally outlandish, especially since we want to save for a house. BTW … thank you Erin for all your help … you so totally rock!
oh yeah …

I think I have pink eye. (actually I think not now … I am just exhausted) Becca has been amazing through all of this. The kid is behaving like a saint. It is freaking me out.

sigh

Oh man, what a pain! I can see how you could get attached to the little guy. He is awfully cute.

Jamie did offer to buy him. I’m just saying.

I don’t know whether to say, “I hope my comment didn’t bring this to your attention,” or “I hope my comment did bring this to your attention.,” cause, you know, this would be bad to find out say, at the border and/or airport. Either way, I hope my comment wasn’t bad vibes.

Passport woes…I completely understand. I’m applying for mine and Steven’s, pain in the arse. I hope all goes well I have some tips if you want to get is quicker becuase trust me they might tell you 2-3 weeks but it will be about 4-5 weeks. I hope you don’t have pink eye that’s not good.

    Congrats to J!

    OMG!!!!
That’s insane (about the wait & the passport) ugh! You really don’t need this extra hassle before you go.
BTW, we’re a border town & you know if you need anything, anything at all, just let me know…. I will be right there to help!

Oy vey, that does not sound like fun at all. I had been wondering how that would all work with Ethan having been born in the US, now I know. Crazy.

If ya need to sneak him in somewhere I’ll wait on the other side. His cuteness would go far in my house ;-)

Yay Becca for being Moms #1 girl, she rocks!

  7. Erin, on October 19th, 2007 at 9:52 pm Said:

who would have thought about Ethan’s passport…cudo’s! I would likely have only found out when we tried to pass customs :)

I hope you find something soon!

  8. Nadine, on October 19th, 2007 at 10:46 pm Said:

Oh my, isn’t it crazy all the hoops you have to go through to move especially to another country. Poor little Ethan, it would have been a shame to leave him behind. :)

I pray that you will find a nice house in a safe place to live in.

Oh crazy, crazy and sigh, crazy!!!! I swear when you become parents your life becomes just a bizillion times more ……. what’s the word? CRAZY??!! Anyway, you need about 20 pairs of extra hands and 7 different heads just so you can get the extra washing out, let alone fill in and send off complicated paperwork!! and THEN move country.
    You are a LEGEND!!!!
Will pray for an amazing new home in a safe, family-fun-filled location!

Moving is so hard without even having to cross borders. Gosh what a pain that must be. I love the pic. That is a great smile.

Oh, I’m so SORRY. It does sound like you have it all figured out, but like things needed to be any harder. Best wishes.

So what’s going to happen to the pussy cat? :( Did you call West Jet? They fly into Halifax just not sure what their U.S. points of departure are. Good luck with everything. I wish I knew Halifax better and tell you what areas to look at.

I LOVE that picture of Ethan!
