Mmmm
I feel so lucky that I am on list of bloggers to review books. I have had so many awesome opportunities. The latest addition has been Deceptively Delicious, by Jessica Seinfeld. I received it a few weeks ago but with the move coming up, trying new recipes was not really a priority, no matter how nutritious and yummy they sounded.
Then we decided to have a picnic after Ethan’s baptism. I decided to try out one of the deserts from the cook book! I baked the Lemon raspberry Cupcakes. The recipe called for pureed beets and squash?!?! J was not convinced that it would taste good. I was determined to try it!
I was so impressed with the baking process. It was fun and they look like the picture! I rock! So I packed them up and brought them to the picnic. I have to admit my daughter is a veggie girl. She eats a lot of fruit and vegetables, so I am not at a loss trying to fit them in, however extra is always good!
The cupcakes were a hit! Both three year olds ate every last crumb and I had the bragging rights that they were uber healthy. (even the adults were fooled into the scrumptiousness!)
There has been some debate as to whether “tricking” kids into eating vegetables is a good idea. I would propose another approach. Rather than tricking them and deceiving them, BRAG~! Tell them (maybe once they have tried it) that there is a scrumptious veggie inside and that they liked it! Eating healthy does not have to be gross, that should be the goal for teaching kids to live a healthy life.
In order to make the purees I needed a new hand blender. We used the one my MIL got for us till it fell apart! I had no idea how updated they were since our dinosaur! It was like magic. Beck did a review on Urban Moms a few weeks ago, and although I did not get one quite so fancy I am so excited about it. Is this the definition of domestic? When one gets excited about kitchen gadgets?
Ok to geek myself back, Leopard is COMING! And my dear sweet internets, I am hitting the Apple Store after is release!!! Weeeee!!!!
Like Becca’s temp tattoo? She HAD to have one … is this a sign of what is to come? At least she is pretending to be a mermaid in the tub as a result.
I received a AMAZING package in the mail yesterday … a box full of BOOKS … swwoooon! Thanks Holly! I (heart) getting fun mail. Hope you are all receiving your silks, books and make sure to enter for a Market Bag.

those look good!
I’m loving that book too! Try the pancakes!
Becca, my kinda gal!
Cupcakes. Uhm Yumm!
those look yummy
I seen her on Oprah one day & everything she talked about sounded good.
Cool tat on Becca! Nate loves tats too. He’d be covered in them if I let him, lol. Good for her for her independence!
I haven’t gotten around to trying any recipes yet, but I want to!
I received my silk today! Thank you so much!
I’m so attracted to the cover of that book …… and don’t get me started on a good cupcake recipe! Will have to keep and eye out for it!
Umm, YUM! Those muffins look sooo good. I’m glad Ethan seems to be on the mend…and as for the moving options, it’s definitely a tough call, but I seriously can NOT IMAGINE driving on my own with two little ones in tow (hubs behind in u-haul or not), especially with the unknowns of winter weather. Either way, I will bow down before you for going through another move so soon…but it will be all worth it in the end, of that I’m sure!
I am going to get that book! My son NEEDS to be tricked! Haha! Actually, I need to be tricked too! I hate vegetables!
Not only does one of my DD’s need to be tricked into veggies so does my DH, he is bad bad bad about veggies and it seems Kamryn is following suit.
The cupcakes are unbelievable. I can’t believe that would taste good. You should post the receipe if that’s allowed.
Those look good. I wonder if that’s the book Michelle is always talking about. If so, I’m so getting the recipe.
Oh wow. Those look delish!
We were so inspired by Becca and her love for veggies, that my kids eat them all day long now! We have trained their taste buds! (I heard that somewhere recently)
Now to find that book
I’m surprised you couldn’t taste beets in those! What an interesting combination of recipes she has come up with! This book is on my to-buy list! Glad everyone liked those!
You’re muffins turned out just like the photo in the book! That’s encredible! I can’t wait to try that recipe.
P.S. I made the cous cous tonight and it wasn’t my favorite.
Sigh. I resort to trickery. Will you still be my friend?
Ooooo..the cupcakes really looks yummylicious. No wonder it was a hit
Great work Chelle
I just ordered this book too and I’m anxiously waiting on the its arrival. Like the new site look. Loads soooo much faster than your last one.
I can’t believe I do this, but…
I tell my kids the same things that my parents told me. Things like, “green beans will make your eyes sparkle.” Ugh.
I can’t believe you’re moving back! I’m trying to catch up with you! Holy cow! Yeah!
Hi there Chelle! It’s been quite a while and I am truly amazed at how Becca and Ethan are now. Time has really flown very fast. I really missed out on a lot and I hope I’ll find time to be visiting again soon.
Hugs to all!!!
