Life is Cruel Sometimes

I know I was suppose to have put up the Market Bags portion of the Great White North Contest, however my baby has been quite beside himself. Almost two weeks ago his first tooth popped through, yet he has been miserable for a week now. On Thursday he developed a low grade fever (my kids are not really fever kids so it freaks me out), he has a rash and just is not himself at all. Classic Ethan smiles at everyone, is generally happy and content. Teething Ethan is miserable! He scowls at people, cries, can’t be put down, can’t be held unless just so and totally bummed.
His condition is so severe I dragged him to the doctor just to rule out the possibility of infection. Thankfully the doctor believes he has a virus that he is fighting (as well as pushing out that other bottom tooth), she even took a urine sample. Since I previously had a baby girl I had never witness the bagging of the area … it was odd but effective. Ironically it appears that Ethan ~*may*~ be feeling a little better.
Ethan is going to baptized this Sunday after mass. Friends of ours are g0ing to be present, then we will all go for a picnic at a playground to celebrate.Today we are off to pick up some supplies in Santa Fe, then I need to do some baking and meal making.
Having two children is wonderful. When one is sick. Wow. It is hard. I felt so torn emotionally. Becca, although an angel throughout this teething time, has been exceptionally needy as well. Wanting to sit on my lap, cuddle and have a lot of together quiet time. All things I normally long for, missing it from my preschooler. However, with a miserable baby attached to me as well, it was hard to fulfill her needs. Plus, when J was around, that needfulness disappeared and she was her normal self, if not a little hyper. My body literally aches from cuddling, holding, rocking, soothing and bouncing. Teething sucks.
So I will be announcing the contest soon. I need to get a picture of the most recent Market Bag that I knit just for you to have a chance to win. This means next week you will have the opportunity to win Market Bags and a Bomb Town T! How thrilling! I sent off all the silk packages (except one I hope to send today or Monday)! Have a Fab weekend!

Aw poor guy.
I hope he’s feeling better soon!
Oh, I’m so sorry. Although those pictures are really cute. Here’s hoping he’s better soon. Can’t make packing any easier. :-(. Hugs.
Highland’s Teething tablets!!!! They are amazing you can find them at the health food store, they dissolve in the babies mouth, I highly recommend them. If you can’t find them have someone in Canada send you some Camillia, if you want me to send me to send you some, shoot me an email and I would be happy to send you a box.
Can’t wait to see photos of the baptism!
I recommend the teething tablets as well.
And i hope he gets thru this time soon. It’s awful when a little one is sick. And have a wonderful day tomorrow at the baptism - what a very special day of celebration!
Take good care! xoxo
Man Oh Man…I hated teething. It literally scared me (like most things baby related)..
Then all of a sudden, it was over. Just like that. As fast as it started. Gone. But Like Becca, Fa was an easy teether…
I hope it goes fast…At least this part.
do you have a good remedy for him? Have you tried the Hylands brand of teething tablets? Or camillia? Or just plain old camomile tea? And for you… a relaxing herb infused bath ALONE. Take care of yourself. We’re doing molars here and I feel your pain.
xo
Aw. Hope he’s better soon.
Teething totally sucks! And is sooooooo unfair! Poor Ethan! and Poor you!
sounds like roseola although he’s a little young, but those symptoms are classic….especially the crankiness!!!
awww. he’s so cute teething or not, but i feel your pain, mama. julian was up every 40 minutes last night just screaming and sometimes even the boob wouldn’t make him happy. it sucks.
hope the rest of the teeth aren’t as troublesome as this one.
hugs,
amy
Hi Chelle,
I LOVE the new format! I’ve been reading faithfully, but often, the site was slow and didn’t allow me to comment (ahhh, aging laptops!).
I hope Ethan is feeling better soon! I feel your pain: Sam’s cutting 2 top molars and 2 top eye teeth and we’re recovering from our recent trip North…
If you need any advice on life in Halifax, let me know
Take care.
oh my gosh that before and after pic is priceless! I’m sorry he’s feeling so miserable, I hope he’s back to his happy self soon!
It is hard when kids aren’t feeling well, especially when another child feels the need to be… well,…. needy. Last Monday Austin fell off his scooter, broke a tooth, banged up his face and knee pretty bad and Jessica was sobbing with concern. I had one kid in one room trying to get him to calm down, putting ice on his face and knee and trying to decide whether he needed to be seen by a doctor and had another child in her room sobbing and getting blue(er) by the minute. Ahhhh… the joys of being the mom! We survived and Austin will be getting the rest of his root canal finished on Monday and then getting his tooth fixed. He has healed up pretty well but his knee still looks quite bruised… but he is walking around on it just fine. Jessica drew Austin some pictures to help him feel better and relaxed when she saw him calm and resting.
Join the club of trying to decide which child needs the most attention at any given time. Tonight my middle son needed to talk about peer pressure and how annoying some of his school/scouting/church friends are. He is at the age that anyone can be annoying at any given time… you know… the joyous time we call puberty. ha! But hey, at least he felt comfortable talking to me about it and his dad joined in on the conversation. My son is going through the typical difficulties of being a teenager which makes him needy yet independent at the same time. Kind of like your daughter in many ways! Look at what you have to look forward to! hehe!
Actually, you are doing a great job. You ARE the perfect mom… one who does everything she can and then realizes that some things just have to wait. Don’t worry about being a little late on putting up the market bags. You are caring for your children and then doing other great things. You rock!
((hugs)) to you!
I almost forgot…. I hope the baptism goes well. How nice that you have friends to help you celebrate. I bet you are excited and proud of your little guy.
((hugs))
Wow like the new digs woman…
And so sorry you are being torn…
But gosh darn those picks of your boy are just too scrumptious!!!!
I remember when Steven went through the teething stages….he was so miserable but I’m sure Ethan will be fine! Ethan is so adorable =)
poor baby!! His face says it all!
Learning to meet the needs of two people is hard. But you are doing a great job.
Poor baby! He’s still cute!
Poor Ethan and poor Chelle. Hope he gets well soon and everything will be back to normal. I can understand how hard it is since I have two of my own.
Btw, this template is better than your previous one. I had a hard time loading your old template. But difficult or not, I always make sure I drop by
awww…feel better ethan!
I’m sorry to hear you’re dealing with the crankiess because of teeth. Yup, I agree, it’s so cruel. I sure hope they stop bugging him soon.
I hope he’s feeling better soon. I can’t wait to see the pics of the baptism.
I am so with you on this. Fly is getting teeth numbers 13 and 14 in (and possibly more), and I can’t seem to do anything to console him.
