Like a Fish
Becca started swimming lessons Monday evening. We will be taking her twice a week for four weeks. I chickened out and put her in a Parent and Tot class one last time. I just was not ready to have her go in the pool without one of us with her. Next session she will be in a class with three year olds on her own. Most of the kids in the class she is in now, it is their first time in the pool. Becca is swimming under the water. In fact, her trouble is we cannot keep her above the water long enough for her to listen. I really hope she will listen when I am not there! J comes along to hang out with Ethan while we are swimming then we all rush home to eat dinner. Becca was exhausted and asleep by 7:30 that night! I can hardly wait till Ethan is 6 months old, so I can introduce him to the beauty of swimming too (well the beauty of getting into a pool at his age!)
I am so excited about our little camping trip. We are headed to Bandelier National Park (which is uber close to home in case we have to bail). I just was talking with another mom at the library and got the goods on the trails there. The hiking is suppose to be great for kids, including going into some caves! I will be sure to take a ton of pictures!
We are slowly settling in here. It is so different from California. I miss my friends terribly even though the people I have met are wonderful. It does not truly feel like home, but neither did California. In the general population there is some close mind-ness that I was shocked to hear. Little comments about “white people” or the lack there of and spanking of our children (something I am firmly against). Living here makes Southern California appear liberal (I am not exaggerating Holly I swear!) By no means am I including the moms I have met and hung out with (Molly!)
A quick update on the cat. Charisma is still alive and annoying lovely. He is not eating well but does not appear to be ill either. We keep trying different foods to entice him into eating. His energy level is good and plays with Becca, so I am trying not to worry. Before winter I think we will adopt another cat to keep him company and give him a break from Becca. She loves him so much and tries to “cuddle”. Before we thought he was sick, we never had to cue her to be gentle. Now she is all over him all the time. I think because she fears he will leave her soon.

I love that picture of Bec asleep with her books!
How great that you’re going camping - have SO much fun!
Glad to hear Charisma is doing great! What cute pictures of your little ones.
All great pictures! I hope you have a super time on your trip!
I’m also glad to hear Charisma is doing better. Pudgy little kitty!
I hope Becca enjoys her swim lessons. We’ve had Snuggle Bug in swim lessons off and on for the past 2 years. He starts up again mid-August.
This Spring was the first time he’s been in swimming lessons without us in the pool with him. The first couple of weeks were rough (he cried a lot) but then he got over the hump and started enjoying lessons again. His instructor works with 3 kids…2 sit on the steps while the 3rd goes out with the instructor, then she switches kids. The parents sit on the sidelines and watch.
I hope you have a wonderful camping trip! I’m so glad to hear that Charisma is doing well!
Yay swimming lessons! The kids are taking them this fall, hopefully together but we’ll see.
Glad to hear the cat is doing better. I found pics of my kitty just today, I had her for 10 years until I was out of high school. It was a nice trip down memory lane.
Hehe. We have that EXACT same thing with Olivia at swimming lessons. She is 3 1/2, the youngest in the group, by far the most confident, and spends most of her time at the bottom of the pool or jumping off the side to get to the bottom!! She has been warned to listen - and even made it to the time-out corner of the pool! Can’t help that she was born to swim!
Yay for swimming!
I’m STILL a chicken and haven’t signed Fa up yet..>What am I waiting for?
Glad little kitty is doing okay. I think a kitty friend might be a nice diversion for both him and Becca!!!
Good luck.
Camping? I’m still not sold. I’ll live THAT one vicariously through you.
Holly and Molly, that’s funny.
I’m sure you’ll find your place there. There is actually a huge white supremacist movement here. Teaching taught me that. Gangs of all sorts in the schools.
Can’t wait to see the pictures of the caves! So glad to hear Charisma is doing well.
California seem liberal? Now, I did not know that was ever a possibility!
I love pictures of kids sleeping. They look so sweet and innocent. It makes you forget what a pain, I mean challenge, they can be at times!
Lummy! Southern California liberal! What an existence. And yes, cats always seem to be annoyingly gorgeous.
Cheers
I’m so glad the cat seems to be doing well. I’d love to get my boys into a swimming class.
cute cute cute!!! i love the photo and the updates!!!
Hope you have fun camping!
wow she sure was wiped out! Glad you were able to get her back in swim lessons already; I’m sure she’s enjoying that! Have fun camping!
Oh the poor kitty. I’m glad he is doing better. I hope you have a great time on your trip. Don’t forget the camera - you know how much everyone loves pictures of those adorable children. By the way - I would love to me you too on one of those encounters or just meet you.
Good stuff on Becca’s swim classes.
Here they start babies at 4 months. Emma loves the water but i’ve decided not to put her in.
Hope you have an awesome time camping.
I think it’s a great idea to adopt another cat. i want to get a white boxer puppy but I think we’ll wait till after Leia is gone & the kids are wee bit older.
