For the Love of PETE!
Ok really I have a lot on my plate at the moment. My daughter is her challenging three year old self. Frustratingly, fearlessly, beautifully creative and independent. I love it. I hate it. I should be unpacking instead I am desperately searching google.
Now I am freaking out.
Charisma.
The cat.
The fat, overweight beast.
He refuses to eat.
For a week now, my dear sweet, evil cat has not eaten his food. This is was an EIGHTEEN pound cat. He likes his food. I am freaking out. Not only has he been my companion for 10 years, he is now Becca’s BFF. He cannot die.
Ok so when he eats the little that he has, he hurls it back up on the sea foam green carpet. We finally resorted to tuna. He can stomach small amounts of tuna, however refuses any cat food, no matter how luscious. Only tuna. I feel like maybe I am being played. But the cat will not eat. He could get very ill, some sort of scary liver disease. I am freaking out.
Honestly. I love my cat. I really do. However. If he needs a feeding tube, and huge medical intervention. I have to let him go. Becca will have to let him go. The little beast better start eating.
Other than not eating, he seems to be the same old Charisma. He has energy (like the energy of an 18 lbs cat), he sleeps, drinks out of the toilet (trying to teach the girl to close the lid), he sleeps and well sleeps. But I would not describe him as lethargic or ill. He is annoying, loving self.
The cat cannot die.

Yikes! Have you been in contact with a local vet?
hmmm…maybe he has stomach flu? but seriously, can cats get stomach flu?
i know when there is a huge change of life around here, like Eric going away or a new baby, dogs wouldn’t eat for a few days either, however they didn’t puke it back up when they did.
Are you thinking of bringing him in or just waiting it out?
i think if he seems himself maybe he just has something upsetting his tummy. I think I would wait a while. Good luck & hope he starts feeling better soon.
Maybe it’s just stress from the move… or the change in water? I hope he starts eating again… poor baby.
oh no! Praying that your cat is ok!
Eeek! I’ll send fat cat eating vibes your way…
My putty died one month afer Fa was born…he was 20. He was old and sickly…It wasn’t pretty. Post partum and a dying cat…Made for an ugly year.
Good luck.
Oh no! Aren’t they such a worry those furry friends! Might just be a little anxiety about moving??? Hope you see big improvements soon!
Maybe the cat’s homesick? I’m sorry! Becca looks so sweet sleeping!!
If he doesn’t have any big behavioural changes, I would suspect that he’s just upset because of the move. My cats sulked around and were pukier than usual for a few days after we moved, too.
Having said that, take him to the vet - he may have eaten something that’s really bothering him, or he might need some antibiotics. You’ll want to make sure he’s okay.
beware of fatty liver disease….very serious problem in cats. get him to eat anything you can…full tuna if you have to but then mix tuna in with the cat food because that has minerals that cats need. good luck!
I am sending feel good vibes for the kitty. I hope he gets better soon!
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear your cat isn’t eating. I hope it’s just something minor and that he gets better soon!
We’re going through the same thing with one of our cats, Luis. He’s basically stopped eating and the little he does eat gets thrown back up. He’s become just skin and bones! We took him to the vet and were told he’s simply old (15 years) and probaby dying but doesn’t appear to be in any pain.
We’re giving him lots of extra love and trying to keep him comfortable. There’s not much else we can do. It’s not easy.
I’m sorry to hear about the cat. There could be a few factors at play - one is age - maybe the cats needs are changing and needs something else to eat. The other thing is when we moved cross country it was hard on our dog. If you can afford it a vet visit would ease your mind.
I pray that the cat eats normally again. God bless.
Awwww I hope he turns around for you. Our fur-babies are important to us aren’t they. Maybe it is the moving thing?
I agree that maybe it is just the stress from the move. Maybe he’s not sure this is permanent. But I’m sending healthy cat vibes your way.
Our cat wasn’t eating eating either…we took her to the vet and found out she had ulcers in her mouth-symptons of an incurable virus!
My cat ad a difficult time with moving and would not eat for a couple of weeks. It is still worth a vet trip to check her out. Good luck!
ahh he braces the phenomenon of reflection for the first time
