Dying to Have Some Fun
We shopped for some extra camping gear. Ahh yes, we are heading out to the great outdoors next weekend! Becca and I are so excited (really J & Ethan are indifferent hehe). We also hung up the kids’ decorations in their room, finished the basement and tidied up the garage. Phew. Busy. We *may*just get the house settled in before the summer ends.
I also finished a pair of slippers for Ethan. The poor kid doesn’t have any shoes (I am all about the barefoot baby pre-walker)! Since we are heading camping he needed something to keep his toes warm! Once they are dry (felted them) I will take some pics!
I dyed some playsilks. For those of you who do not know what playsilks are (I didn’t until I lived in California, Marina introduced them to me) they are squares/lengths of silk that are used as an open ended toy. They basically can be whatever your child would want to imagine them to be…dress-up, a fort, a carpet and the like. Becca has a couple from Sarah’s Silks that she really enjoys. I purchased some from Dharma Trading before I left California that were undyed. Today I whipped out the kool aid and dyed them. They turned out awesome and unique. Next time I dye I want to try kettle dying (this time I used the microwave which created a marble, not solid effect that I like). All in all I am happy with how they turned out (check out Flickr to see more pics). I can hardly wait to do more dying!
Becca was exceptionally well behaved this weekend. Almost to a creepy degree. Like the calm before the storm? Or is she just settling into the new place? All I know for sure is she was sweet and enduring all weekend. Great listener, compliance almost 100% … so not what I have come to prepare myself for. I am not complaining. Really! Just a little freaked out … hehe! How was your weekend?

Hooray for settling in! The playsilks look just beautiful :). But who is that boy that’s standing?!?! Surely not Ethan!
Miss you guys.
Those silks look like so much fun!!! I think I will have to get a few for the boys.
Glad things are getting “normal” for you and that you’re settling! Love the pictures!
Dharma Trading! Good golly! and there was me thinking that I was their only customer! What would we do without internet shopping?
Best wishes
Yay for eventful weekends!!!
Camping huh? Have fun. I don’t camp unless I can pkug a blow drier in….
Playsilks. I totally have to get some.
I love playsilks! We have them in kindergarten and most of the local preschools.
Those look very cool but I SO can`t see Joey getting into them. I can always live in hope though.. i never realised the boy/girl thing would make such a big difference from such an early age!!! Glad you had a good weekend, can`t wait to see Ethan`s slippers!
The playsilks came out great. Can’t wait to hear about camping.

good for you for going camping, however, I wouldn’t be so brave. let us know how it goes, lol.
Good stuff on Becca behaving. They have their days, he he.

My weekend as you read in my blog was crazily fantastic — but I soooo missed the babies and I’m glad to be back home with them. It was realy hard prying myself away from the baby.
BTW — Ethan is even more handsome now! Maybe we can arranged my daughter and your son to date one day…hihihihi…see Ethan has a new girlfriend! Katie.

You’re so lucky to be going camping! And I’m so impressed you’re going so soon after your move! I hope it’s great. Ethan looks so big all of a sudden somehow! Wow! I like the mottled effect of the silk. What a great idea….
sounds like you got a lot accomplished! how fun that you’re planning your first camping trip - where are you going?
You sound more grounded. Do you feel that way?
And is that you next to cutie boy?
Lastly, enjoy the camping. That is one thing I won’t join you on if I come for a visit. My idea of roughing it is not having boxsprings.
Of course in California playsilks are vey big, Steven had a few. Camping in New Mexico should be tons of fun, gorgeous weather and awesome scenery. We just went camping with Steven for his 5th birthday and he had a blast. Have a wonderful time! Ethan and Becca are just growing up so fast!
