What a Day

What a Day

Sally the Dress FormOh My.

Guess what everyone does Saturday mornings here up on the Hill* … Yup they go garage sale shopping. We are not the … “Oh Oh is it 7am yet so we can go garage sale shopping” … people. Therefore, left were some slim pickings. We did however score a kite and book for Becca, some clothes for Ethan and a dress form for me :) One may ask why I need a dress form … Just because it is cool!!!! I can dress her up, take pictures … Yes Sally and I will have many adventures.

After our treasure hunting we took the drive down the mountain we now live upon (also refered to as the Hill*) to Santa Fe … to hit up Target! w00t! We decided that although some may find hotel living to be fun, we find it stressful and annoying. So since our new place is equiped with a Murphy bed (so there is so totally a place to crash if you come to visit!), we bought some sheets and the minium gear to survive until the movers come.

Smiling Baby EthanA side note on the movers. It works like this … the movers come and pack our gear and take it to a big truck trailor were other people that are moving have gear on said truck too. So multiple households are on one truck and said truck heads out. First on the truck is last off the truck and distance travelled, blah blah blah. Our stuff is still in transit somewhere, and we hope hope hope to see it next week (althought they have till like the 10th or something crazy). In the meantime we are going to “settle in” the best we can and then play tourist with the kids.

The kids truly have been amazing. They could be making our lives a living hell with all that we are putting them through. Yet Ethan is still smiling away and even giving out a Becca’s New Hair cutfew giggles. Becca’s imagination is soaring. I throughly enjoy listening to her amazing stories and plotlines.

Before we left Riverside, Becca got her hair cut. I had been fighting bangs since she has had hair, sadly I lost the battle. Her hair grows forward, right into her face, causing a cousin It effect if not tackled. Well with Becca’s new found “independence” tying back her hair is not always doable. In comes the bangs. I have to say I quite like them and now I have to learn to trim them. Being a curly haired girl myself, bangs were never my thing.

Since we will be relocating to the house as of tomorrow I will no longer have GASP an internet connection. I am sure it will not be long until I find every hot spot, WiFi in the area, however posts and reading will be sparse. We will be hopefully hooked up with some DSL by the end of the week.

*The reference to the Hill is based on Los Alamos history of being a secret location for the government lab. While I am still learning about the rich history here, the Hill sounds perfect for our new home.

That dress form is hawt!! She needs a sassy scarf or maybe a string of pearls.

Weird about the movers… but then again, every time we’ve moved, they got there before we did.

Hopefully someone will have an open connection for you to borrow. :)

  2. Wow -that’s a M…soodz smile alright! Cutie Pie!

Glad you’re settling in. That’s a way cool dress form!

  3. Overwhelmed! says:

I’m so glad that you arrived safely and are getting settled in. Love the dress form. I wish I had one, but then I might be tempted to learn how to sew. :)

    Keep us posted!

  4. Janet says:

    So exciting!!!

And I love the bangs!!!!! (I had ‘em most of my life)…she looks beautiful.

I pray for your stuff to get there soon…

  5. Marz says:

Yikes about the movers. Reminds me about that movie “moving” with Richard Pryor. Have you ever seen it? I sure hope your experience is nothing like his.
Becca looks cute with bangs. it’s not hard to cut them, trust me, I do my own.
Ethan looks so much like Becca in that pic.
Sorry we won’t be getting updates for a while, hope you find a connection soon.

  6. Tsoniki says:

I’m amazed at the people who get up that early to go to a garage sale! Craziness!

My DD’s hair grows forward too, and she has a high hairline like her Dad so she’s always been a bang girl. They are easy to cut once you get the hang of it.

    I hope you find wifi!

  7. Erin says:

Glad to hear that you are getting settled :) Ethan and Becca are amazing!

  8. jacquie says:

Well lets hope the movers get there faster than the 10th, that sounds scary!

Your kids are awesome and that Ethan OMG does he have a smile on him, that boy will be melting many a heart!

My girls have always had bangs, I have tried growing out Kamryn’s but I don’t usually make it too far and they are driving me nuts LOL. She could really careless.

  9. Melanie says:

Evryone seems to be hanging in there! I can’t wait to hear the adventures in the day in the life of a dress form! Haa haa. When cutting bangs, here are somer things to remember:
    DO
-hold the hair between your index finger and middle finger( like scissors). It acts as guard and begin to snip upward. This give the bangs a more natural look.

    DO NOT
    - Cut srtaight across. This technique will sur to make BEcca look like Moe from the 3 Stooges!

    Happy cutting!

Glad you were able to find a few things at the yard sales, even if you weren’t up at the crack of dawn! I’m not like that either, I like my mornings non-rushed :) I love Becca’s hair cut- very cute on her! Kayla’s hair does the same thing -grows forward in her face, and ends up getting in her mouth when she eats! I finally relented and had bangs cut too.

  11. Erin says:

    Happy Canada Day!!!

  12. NO INTERNET ACCESS!!! that’s awful…..Hope that will give you enough free time to settle in and then quickly find wifi spots to come back blogging again. Good luck!

  13. Damselfly says:

Hey, you know, go to garage sales is a great way to get to know your new town. Love the dress form!

  14. Chelle Y. says:

Becca’s haircut looks so cute! :)

  15. Rebecca says:

I want a dress form, too! And little girls with bangs are the sweetest! The Girl has decided that she no longer wants bangs, so she’s been in that ackward growing-out stage for MONTHS now. Wah.

  16. Holly says:

She looks so much older with bangs. Great dress form. Sounds like a lovely life on the Hill.

  17. Deb says:

There are some in my town that wake up at 5 on Sat. just to get “the jump” on other garage sale shoppers; I can’t make myself get up that early. Glad you made it. :o )

  18. char* says:

From Canada to California to the Hill…my goodness! I’m happy you’ve arrived in your new home and I’m excited to see the new adventures of Ethan and Becca!

Chelle, I’ve gotten behind on my blog reading but just caught up with you! I’m so glad you made it to Los Alamos safely. I can ‘t wait to see the sea foam green carpet and the rest of your townhouse. Hope you get moved in and your internet back soon.

  20. Leah says:

Sorry I have been so busy I have not been around much to check you out lately. I can not believe how much Ethan has grown! Can you see it?
