Halfway to Nowhere
With help from our cat Kitt we made the insane 6 hour trek to Flagstaff, Arizona. You see I have never owned a car with cruise control. The sweet pleasures of driving with my fingers was discovered last night. weee! We did not get going until after 3pm due to the movers taking a little longer than we had first hoped. This made our first day of travelling a long one.
At one point J looks over at me and asks “Is that your nervous, I am going to drive us all off the road laugh?” Muwahahaha! Clearly he did not appreciate the self propelled glory of cruise control through mountainous terrain.
Becca got confused at some point. She figured we would arrive in Los Alamos in no time at all. No stopping for dinner or the night. If we were stopping it meant we had arrived. No matter how many pictorial representations of Riverside to Los Alamos I drew on Colour Wonder paper, she was devastated that we were not “There Yet”.
Pooh to the rescue! We threw character building out the window and opted to have technology entertain our cute & cuddly daughter, while we weary parents enjoyed the silence.
Now that the kids have had some much needed not-strapped-into-the-carseat time we are eager to get on the road again, arriving finally, in Los Alamos this evening.

YAY! Glad you’re on the road and almost there!!
Almost!!! I’m thinking of ya!!!
I send cruise control joyous vibes your way!!!!
must be so exciting to finally be there.
I know, kids don’t seem to understand concept of time or destination lengths, lol.
Traveling with kids is always a joy! LOL Glad you are traveling safe and almost there!
Have a safe journey!
sorry to hear you got on the road later than you had hoped - that does make for a long day! Maybe staying in a hotel and having it be a different experience for Becca made up for the fact that you weren’t stopping because you were in Los Alamos yet! Hope the drive today is uneventful!
Hope driving today is going well! You guys are all in our thoughts (all the time!)
i love cruise control too
Have a safe and successful Journey!
Modern technology, especially when traveling with little ones, it the best invention! I say, “Thank God, for GameBoys and DVD’s in cars! Haha!
Thank God for technology!
I was wondering if you got stuck in the plastic fire traffic. But, by the time I read this, you might be there :-). I hope you have a good first impression.
You go girl! We moved when I was pregnant and we had two dogs and a 9 month old. Fun fun fun. You’ll be there soon and looking back on this trip with fond memories. Take lots of photo for the kids to remember.
Haha. A car trip we took earlier in the year we thought we’d leave at bedtime so Olivia would sleep the 3 hours away! Instead she was so amped about going she sang the whole 3 hour trip! Then on the way home she spent 3 hours talking about how she might go to sleep! Talk about weary parents!! Next time - dvd player FOR SURE!
Good to hear things are going relatively smoothly. I can’t wait to hear about your new life!
I so have the DVD ready to go for our road trip back home this summer! I just have to figure out how to get all 3 girls in headphones so I can have MY music?
Have fun settling in and finding your new nest. Can’t wait for pics of the new city and to learn about it from you.
You know what, i never ever figured out the cruise control thing…. Hope you can relax at last tonight!
Good of you to let us know your updates on the trip. It certainly looks like a long journey. Hope you guys will settle in well.
Be careful!
I’m praying your journey finishes well and saftey until you reach your destination.
