Bomb Town
Pic of the Day ~ Ethan & Becca ~
What a day! Whew … I am exhausted. We arrived uber late last night. Anyone that proclaims that travelling with two children under the age of three is easy is a nut job. We survived the journey and I tell you there will be NO road trips in our near future.
We really do have amazing kids. They suffered through an entire day of driving through countless construction zones, tourist traps and insane weather. Towards the end we had to do an emergency pull over right in front of a casino that was being built, due to Ethan simply having enough with being in the car. Becca had had a similar melt down earlier, thankfully there was a rest stop that allowed us to stretch our legs, and recover.
Between Albuquerque and Santa Fe we ran into some wild weather. The rain pounding on our roof wasn’t so bad, however when the marble sized hail starting drilling into our car I got a little nervous. We pushed on and arrived in Los Alamos unscathed.
The jerks at the hotel gave our room away and tried to stick us in a room with ONE bed. Ummm hello four people … one bed … ugh. Today they corrected the error and we will not have to go to bed at 8pm when Becca goes down (or else she stays awake, can you blame her?)
Today we spent the day doing more driving (we were really popular with the kids) and looking for a place to call home. At first we started to panic, everything in our price range was on the dumpy side. I would prefer not live in a place where the selling point is that the wood stove will heat the entire house! Then we spotted the cutest condo, made arrangements to view it and the sweetest old lady showed us the place. It was so cute! The lady that owns it is now in Texas and was a little iffy stating she was selling and that others had agreed to rent it. I was a little bummed then more determined to find a place.
One of the ads was for a 3 bedroom 3 bath townhouse in the same area as the ever cute condo. We went to see it and the the people that own it are so awesome (the lady even works for the labs too!). I was a little taken aback by the sea foam green plush carpeting through out all THREE floors, yet the double garage, fantastic deck overlooking the canyon, tons of room, fridge with water and ice maker, washer, dryer, dishwasher AND walking distance to the hot spot in town* … well one can live with sea foam green plush carpet. One is always in need of blog material. Sea foam green plush carpet can go a long way.
J signed the lease papers tonight and we have the keys. We are hoping to contact the moving company and see when our stuff may make it to this neck of the woods tomorrow and deal with hooking stuff up and all that jazz. I am so so relieved that it is no longer in question where we call home.
Tomorrow I will share my first impressions of this mountain town where EVERYONE talks to you, smiles and waves (a little freak-eh if you ask me), for tonight I am weary and in need of a rest.
*Everywhere we went there was a MASS of people … I can get a Starbucks coffee faster in California for the love of pete … oh the Quiznos was PACKED with people. It was MAYHEM! I swear everyone in town was in those two locations when we were!

Been a long while since i’ve been here. I am just now trying to get back into blogging but still don’t blog on a daily basis. I can’t believe how big Ethan has gotten
They are both just so cute
DUDE! I can’t believe you found a place that fast!! I think that’s a record or something. LOL SOO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! I am DYING to see pictures of your new home and your new town and even your crowded Starbucks!
Everyone smiling and waving is a NICE thing! Not freaky - it’s the sign of a close-knit, caring community - I think you guys will be happy there, seafoam carpet or no.
OK! So traveling by car isn’t the best way to go…and seafoam green will make for phenomenal blog material!
YOU HAVE A HOME!!!!
I am so happy for you!
So quickly and so nice! I am so overjoyed that you will be able to settle down this fast…You deserve all the joy this adventure brings you…(The other stuff gets buried under all the joy!!!!)
hard hugs!
wow! your new place sounds awesome! there really is nothing wrong with sea foam carpeting, the way i’m thinking it looks anyways. It will grow on you, lol.
Can’t wait to see pics of your new super sounding place! sounds like you hit jackpot when you found that one! awesome!
Happy New Home!
Finally! Congratulations, Chelle.
Sorry that I’ve been a bad blog buddy lately. I do keep myself posted on your news, though! I’m happy for you.
My cousin and his wife moved to NM two years ago after living their whole lives in Denver. Their impressions were exactly the same as yours…. everyone is SO friendly and SO talkative - that’s an awesome thing to have in the community in which you live, but rather annoying as you wait in lines FOREVER due to the chit-chat-iness. I almost didn’t believe him (thought he was exaggerating) until we visited there… and now your impressions are dead on with what he was saying. Too funny how culture changes over state lines!
I’m so happy for you guys - praying for easy transitions for Becca and Ethan. God bless!
Wow you have a home! I’m so impressed that you found one that fast! I hope you can get things in there soon and start getting settled!
Oh man, that picture reminds me of that movie we saw, what was it? Something has eyes. Creepy. You move fast. I’m over the carpet, 3 floors, are you nuts! You are going to have the world’s strongest legs!
I am so glad that you found a place that you mostly like. We got burned several times when we were first looking. We didn’t find our current place until we had been in town for a year.
Wow good home hunting! The green carpet sounds like it can be overrided by the other great features
Your adventure is sounds like it is running smoothly!
Thank goodness you all made it in one piece. I had a similar road trip experience over the Christmas holiday when I had this crazy idea to visit my mom a few states away. I drove alone with two toddlers and I swear I don’t know how the heck I managed to survive without backup from their dad! Happy home hunting, the condo thingy sounds nice!
Amazing parents tend to have amazing kids! You’ve done good, girl!
I hear you about the long road trip! I think it’s especially tough on babies too, they just want to be held! I can’t believe how fast you found a place to live! Thank goodness you won’t be living out of a hotel for too many nights!
Besides the sea foam green and the masses….you have a home. I can’t wait to see pictures of your adventures. The stories should plenty.
yeah, I’m one of those nutjobs who constantly drive for long trips with kids. I understand!
Glad you made it! xoxo
Happy you made it safely!

Glad you guys made it. Hope the house works out for you. Seafoam green carpet does sound like an interior design challege. Take care!
