It’s Official …
… Our lives are never boring. J has received an official offer from the Los Alamos National Labs. w00t! We are on our way to New Mexico next month …
Or are we?
Pics of the Day ~ Ethan’s Smile Captured and Becca the Artist ~

Right before the offer arrived J received news that he had been short listed for an interview, for an academic position at Ryerson University, Toronto, ON!!! Of course this makes our lives a little less boring and drab (ha! Like it ever is geez!) We are super excited at the prospect of heading home! J appears to be a perfect fit to RU and they would be lucky to have him
He will fly off to Toronto next week for the interview.
Chances are the position (although we do not know we are guessing) will not begin until next year. Therefore we will still be heading across state lines. Los Alamos is an exciting and excellent opportunity for J, so it is not a bad thing to move there, then have a job secured back home for next year.
All this news has put our lives into a tail spin! Preparing for J’s departure next week will not be fun. I am going to be all alone for THREE days with TWO children. Egads. I do have plans with friends for the second day so I am sure the time will fly.
We gave written notice that we were breaking our lease and moving yesterday. It is so surreal. J has to pass a drug test (haha) before we are approved to book a moving company. I am very excited about the moving company part, and very anxious. I am the kind of girl that likes to be in control. A moving company is a foreign concept to me. They swoop in do all the work, swoop our gear away AND unpack it once we find a place there? eep!
So much to do … decide … egads … I am going into Mom mode and going for a playdate … the rest can wait.

Yea on everything going great! The baby is so big now, and he’s gorgeous! Computer is still down, but I weanted to say “hi!”
Up until I married into the military, I’d never had a moving company move me. I was a total wreck. I dusted and wiped down everything twice because OMG WHAT IF THEY THINK OUR STUF IS DIRTY?! I even pre-packed all the appliances that I still had boxes for. Pre-packed my computer and gadgets and linens and my stock of granny panties. And I staged a bunch of stuff from our bedroom in our dining room so that they’d just need to get the bedroom furniture. I was up until 3am the night before, just trying to make sure I had everything under control. I’m pretty sure I cried at least twice the next morning, from exhaustion and stress.
And, lemme tell you… IT IS SO NOT WORTH IT! These people do this for a living. They have it down to a science so it’s best to just sit back and let them do it. As long as everything has been wiped down and/or dusted, it’ll be a snap for them to swoop in and take care of the rest. And, it’s easier for them to unpack when you get to your new home if you let them do it their way.
I am so excited for you… new adventures in a new state… the prospect of moving home… so so happy for you and your family.
Ryerson would rock! Crossing my fingers for you.
Love that Ethan is smiling with his mouth and eyes!
Chelle, I’m so happy for you! I know how much you want to come home. Enjoy your stay in NM what an adventure. I so hope every thing works out for J at RU. Imagine that, we’ll be blogging a whole lot closer.
Wow! That is all super exciting! Congratulations to your husband for being such a wanted person!! You must be really proud!
Wow…you guys have a lot going on! How all goes well with the job interview…for J and for you being by yourself with the kids!
Ehtan’s smile is adorable!!!
That’s wonderful news!
Wow you guys have such adventures or they seem that way in my boring old life LOL.
Crossing fingers the interview goes well. Keep us posted.
Sigh I woulda LOVED for movers to have swooped in when we moved her.
That is so awesome!
Well, well, well…I send you my warmest wishes for whatever you want to actually happen!!!!
Good luck.
Wow! That’s amazing! Congratulations. I hope those three days will fly by. I love the little guy’s smile!
As much as I want you closer, imagine all the TO mommy bloggers you could meet!
OMG OMG!!! how exciting you that be!!!! I so hope you move to TO that is sooo much closer then now. We COULD visit each other! that would be sooo frickin’ cool!!!
Wow! That’s HUGE! You are going to have an action-packed few months!!!
I just love NM! I hope it all works out.
And don’t worry about being alone for three days. You’re smart to make plans to get out.
Oh, fingerscrossed big time! There is nothing like being HOME when you have kids! I pray everyday that Matthew’s current position will turn into a tenured faculty position. I feel so blessed that we’ve been able to stay here thus far, and I hope it’s permanent.
In the mean time, WOW, what an adventure you’re on!!
How fun, I’ve never been to New Mexico and you’re talking the telescopes there right? That would be so interesting.
Oh, and thanks for the comment on the short story. Oops! I updated it because it won an honorable mention in the creative writing contest here and I wanted the post to be the same as the text I submitted. I thought I’d buried it well within the archives and feeds but your feeds must have popped it up.
How exciting for you all, the moving company will really make the move much easier. What a treat. My sister has the army move them each time they get posted elsewhere. She now packs the precious small things (little ornaments etc) that she doesn’t want lost herself. It’s not that they get damaged, the people who do it have always taken great care and the odd time they havent the insurance covered repairs (scratched table top was french polished again for free) but the little ornaments have been lost in the packing paper in the past when unpacking and now she doesn’t risk it and packs a small box herself that she keeps with their other personal stuff and unpacks herself.
WOW!
I’ve never dealt with a moving company, but I can imagine. I’d have a hard time letting go too. Then again, I HATE PACKING AND UNPACKING! Enjoy!
Noooo! Oh, wait. I mean congratulations. And because of the clear night sky, there are telescopes at Los Alamos.
Becca is so intent on her artwork! LOL…and Ethan has the most beautiful long eyelashes, with his cherub cheeks! Your children are just gorgeous! Thanks for visiting my blog this weekend! Good luck with all your plans!
Congrats!!! That is such great news! I’d plan as many playdates as you can physically handle. LOL The movers will swoop in and take care of things faster then you can believe. And definitely let them unpack whatever they will - trust me, taking care of kids while your hubby is trying to get started with a new job is stressful enough! Yay again!
Wow! Everything seems to be smooth sailing for you & your family. I’m so happy for you guys
Don’t worry about the 3 days, I’m sure you’ll handle it well. Before you know it, J will be back!
