PJ Day Stands for Puke on J Day?

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Pic of the Day ~ Another Becca and Daddy at the Zoo Pic! ~Another Becca and Daddy at the Zoo Pic!

Pajama Day did not begin as I had envisioned. Is that not always the case with a toddler in the house? Things simply do not go as planned? I woke up to “Chelle …. Chelle …. Can you come help me please” a soft call from the other room. For a little background, I am spoiled. While pregnant I sleep, J gets up with Becca and starts the morning routine. Becca will come in, before breakfast and wake me up. It works well *smile* Back to yesterday morning. J had the fortunate experience of getting up with Becca only to be vomited on! Poor girl, her supper was still churning in her upset tummy!

We got her, most of her room and J cleaned up then the snuggling commenced. Janet, just recently had an excellent post concerning the “schuggle” and I could not agree more! Becca was particularly attached to Mommy and was upset when J took over so I could eat breakfast and clean myself up a bit before he left for work. I can only assume she thought I was planning to escape during her time of need!

Thankfully for my pregnant self (and Becca) she did not throw up again. Whatever was bugging her tummy haunted her for the day, but did not result in further puke. We watched a lot of television, read a ton of books, snuggled, bathed and enjoyed each other’s company. Although I had planned a day slightly different, I am just happy we were together.

I accomplished a lot considering. I did a ton of laundry (a lot by force since Becca’s bedding needed to be cleaned!), wash and blacked some knitting, and worked on Ethan’s baby blanket.

We received a special package in the mail yesterday! I had won a book through the Opinionated Parent, with it is the most gorgeous, lush diaper cover! Thank you so much Nic! (will take pictures later!)

I have the Obstetrician appointment this morning, then Becca and I hope to hook up with JoAnne and Ryan for some fun at the park. I am looking forward to getting the results back from the ultrasound and checking in with the doctor. Time seems to be flying by. Everyday I am so thankful I am not sick during this pregnancy! I still have so much to do before I am ready to welcome Ethan on the other side! I will come back and update later today on everything!

*Update* My Doctor called in SICK! Darn Human Doctors!!! So I guess we will wait till Friday to hear anything!

I was tagged by IMMomsDaughter, to list my Favorite 5 Blogs …. honestly I have given this a lot of thought and I am not sure I can narrow it down to 5. I am not being cheeky, or avoiding … I truly adore, and look forward to reading all the blogs in my RSS reader. There are some that I feel closer to, others I read from a far like a secret crush, but really they are all my favorites, or I would not read them. It is like asking a parent who their favorite child is! SO not a fair question.

Tomorrow is the beginning of February and I will have the pleasure of having a guest blogger here at Crazy Thoughts! Please be sure to welcome her and come over to her blog to see what I posted about, it was a very fun Blog Exchange this month!

Becca and Daddy at the ZooPic of the Day ~ Becca and Daddy at the Zoo ~

We had a wonderful time at the zoo. It was a beautiful family outing (although quite exhausting for all three of us!). The animals were all out and active since the weather was cool and refreshing. Becca proclaims that the Elephants and Giraffes were her favorites this trip.

Grrr! Upgrading to Wordpress 2.1 has given me troubles! This is a much bigger upgrade than I had thought and broke things I liked around here. Grrr! Now I am going to have to try to find the time to play around with things to get them back the way I like them! Grrr!

Speaking of blog maintenance. I have been terrible at the upkeep of the Blogroll. Please, if you stop by here and comment and do not see your site on the right there under the Blog Links, let me know. I am usually good about returning comments (rarely email sorry I get over 100 emails a day), and since I use a RSS reader, Ti’s easy to get lazy. But I want to honour your blog, celebrate your writing and give you some linky love, so let me know if you are missing. Thanks!

Today, we joined some Mom’s for Book Club. Always nice to spend time with them and chat while our kids learn all about playing, sharing, stealing, pushing and drums! hehe! Next month’s book looks so promising I look forward to receiving it from Amazon.

Tomorrow I have made a promise to myself not to have any commitments. This has been a difficult promise to keep, longing to make social or other commitments, however so far we are free to have a Pajama Day! Hopefully I can follow through. It is funny this nesting instinct has me twirling with thoughts … Well this could be my last day, week, month before Ethan demands to make his appearance … So I have been constantly on the go, which has in turn kept me so busy I cannot think of the things that could potentially be stressing me out! It is all good. And beside five hours at a Zoo that is all up hill has to be great preparation for labour … no?

Geek In Training Becca enjoying the OutdoorsPic of the Day ~ Geek In Training Becca enjoying the Outdoors ~

Every Sunday, I escape the apartment and join my friend Marina for a few hours of knitting and chatting. It is a time we both hold sacred as it is a time without responsibilities, children, husbands (although we love them all!) and the world around us. A lot of talk is focused on knitting, but ventures to everything that affects our life. Knitting has made me a better person, in part because I now have such an amazing friend to share it with. This weekend we ventured from the norm and met on Saturday so we could hit a local bead shop to make Stitch Markers. I personally have never worked with beads before, so it took me a while to get the hang of it all. Thankfully Marina has done some beading and was able to steer me in the right directions. Oh Holly, it has been decided that you too with have to join us next time we hit the bead shop (and of course there has to be a next time!) For those not in the knitting know,Stitch Markers a Stitch Marker will keep your count if that is important, mark the beginning of a round, remind you to increase or decrease, or help with short rows. They are far from being an essential part of knitting, for a scrap piece of yarn tied in the right spot will do the trick, however making these is so much fun and they are way prettier than a piece of old yarn! We also were able to create our own for about half the cost! I have seen some beautiful stitch markers but it was nice to be responsible for the creation!

Stitch Marker Part TwoI returned home later than usual today. I am quite dedicated to always being home to tuck Becca in for her nap. It was difficult not to be there, but good too. For both Becca and I, I suppose. This new found liberation from my sweet daughter feels foreign and awkward at times. I forever will long to be close to her, I know this, yet there is comfort in knowing my love for her is secure in both our hearts. Yesterday was a prime example. Becca was confident that I would return, no abandonment issues with my kid! She behaved wonderfully for Erin and was so happy to see me return!

As a family we all went out shopping this afternoon. More to browse than to shop, but it was lovely to all be together. J has been putting a lot of hours into the lab as of late and Becca and I have been uber busy too. Amazing how life gets that way. All busy like. We did find some cool deals that we could not pass up. I bought 2 pairs of maternity pants … $3.50 EACH … umm and my butt fits in them!!! *insert shock here* J was in desperate need of pants so he too found a great deal on some jeans that make his butt look real good …. real good! May have to try to get a butt shot at a later date! hehe!

Tomorrow we are off to the Zoo Zoo Zoo … How about You You You? (Who sings that classic?)

Pic of the Day ~ Baby Ethan George! ~

Baby Ethan's FaceBecca and I enjoyed a wonderful morning of shopping, a break at Starbucks and playing outside. We only needed a few things, so stopped by the ‘Bucks after shopping. We took our drinks outside to watch the water fountain, the birds, sing the ABC’s and count to 20! The girl is awesome I am so proud of her. She would wait to hear the number I would sound out then count with me, but count no less!

After lunch, for the first time (I know I am so so possessive mom!) I left Becca with someone other than our family! It was a milestone! More traumatic for me by far than Becca. In fact, Baby EthanBecca kissed me, gave me a hug and said Bye Bye. I on the other hand, procrastinated, fumbled leaving and was totally fretting. Silly Mommy. Erin and Samuel kept Becca company this afternoon, so I could jet to the ultrasound.

Ethan George, looks so so wonderful. He is such a mover and a shaker in there. In fact the little boy (once again verified!), is curled up right into a ball in there. Head down with his feet resting ABOVE his forehead! The kid is flexible! hehe. We got a great picture of his feet and his leg, as well as his face. I am totally and absolutely in love. Not that I wasn’t before, he just became that much more real to me. Of course, technician says nothing and we will have to wait to see the doctor on Wednesday for any news.

Baby Ethan's FeetOn the topic of babies….I would like you all to pop over to Fidget’s blog and wish her many stay put baby vibes …. Her and her baby boy have had a tough week and could use all the support and well wishes. She is as far along with her pregnancy as I was when I gave birth to Becca, so I totally understand her wishes to stay pregnant a little longer!

We have some exciting plans for the weekend that I will let you in on as it all happens … How about you? Weekend plans? More pictures on our Flickr!

Social Butterflies

Pic of the Day ~ A Very Tired Social Butterfly ~

Social ButterflyWow this has been one heck of a week and yet it is not over yet! I keep telling my husband (and myself) that I want to hibernate, stay home more, cozy up and relax. So far since I made that claim two months ago, I failed badly to do so! This week it looks like we may not have one complete day at home at all! Craziness!

Tuesday, Becca and I enjoyed a two hour hike with Erin and Samuel around the UCR Botanical gardens. Yesterday we spent the entire day with Holly and Jamie. As usual both days we had a wonderful time. Today we social butterflies, are first hitting up a consignment shop to exchange some of Becca’s old clothes for new-to-us boy clothes (wish us much store credit!) then meeting up with Marina and her boys for a picnic and park afternoon! Poor Becca is getting a play-dates to the max this week, yet how can we pass up hanging out with the coolest kids in the area?!?!

Yesterday was great! Becca and I always adore hanging out with Holly and Jamie. Becca brought home half the dirt from their backyard and I came home with a crazy Knitter’s Tan! What is a Knitter’s Tan you may ask?!?! Well when you sit in the sun (something your pregnant self has not seen much of this winter), crooked, knitting for hours as the kids played, you get a bad uneven Knitter’s Tan! I look so silly! Even half my face is red! (grrr 30 SPF moisturizer! pfft)

Tomorrow is another crazy day of grocery shopping (thankfully J went last night to pick up some essentials!) then Erin is coming by with Samuel to keep Becca company in the afternoon. I will be heading out to an ultrasound to check on the Placenta Previa that I mentioned earlier this month. Being as busy as we have been, has left me little time to think about the ultrasound. I get to see my little baby boy again!! w00t! We will be discussing the results on next Wednesday with the OB.

Well I have a picnic to pack and a shower to be had … Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Oh as a side note, the other night I upgraded to Wordpress 2.1, then had a heart attack when my blog refused to appear, then a stroke when the CSS style (aka my theme) refused to appear … after an hour of lost sleep I figured it all out and ADORE the new version of Wordpress!
