Happy Thanksgiving!

Well it is sure quiet around the blogosphere, everyone jetting off or preparing for a big old fashioned turkey dinner. We are saving ourselves for Christmas, being more of turkey at Christmas folks than in November. Instead we have some bake-em-in-the-oven yummies and we are going to trim the tree tomorrow. It is approximately a week earlier than we normally put up the tree, but gosh darn it having a toddler gets one all excited about the holidays!
Becca keeps asking more and more detailed questions about Christmas. It is really cute how she is trying to make sense of it all. I can hardly wait to see her face tomorrow when we put up the tree and all the lights!
Part of the prize Becca won for being the absolute cutest in the Halloween contest arrived today! Our Walmart gift arrived just in time for me to join the insanity on what Americans call Black Friday. It is like our Boxing Day, starts early in the morning and the stores have crazy sales. I plan on ditching the cuties and taking off to Micheals to go yarn shopping *insert drool here* Who knew yarn shopping could be so lushious and joyful!?!?
I have all my Christmas cards out but a few and plan on sending out the gifts soon. I have some wrapping to do and a few last minute things to pick up and we are set! Just some baking and sit back and enjoy time! We have a Mom’s Club Winter Party to go to and that is about it for social obligations. I so adore not having to jet all over the place! But at the same time this season brings on the major home sickness for me.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend and for my fellow Canadians it is not much longer till we get to feast on turkey, and all the other goodies!
Just when J thought my “imaginary” friend would never materialize, Marina and I took our kids out to the LA Zoo and Travel Town (a train museum). Marina is my knitting guru, the one I meet as close to weekly as we can manage to chat and knit. This was the first time our kids met! Unfortunately her youngest was under the weather and stayed back with his Grandma, but Becca and Chris really had a good time.
Well actually no honey but eh the song keeps getting stuck in my head. I went for the dreaded sugar test yesterday. All went well, I knitted an egg while I waited … hehe. I also pre-registered at the hospital yesterday morning. It was quick and painless however, it reminded me how lost I feel here in the private system. I did not even know what floor the Maternity ward is on! I am going to have to call and see if we can have a tour or something. I kind of like to have a sense of knowing before the fact.
I had a minor emotional meltdown last night. Totally acceptable considering I am pregnant and allowances should be made for this condition. Seriously, for the love of humanity why WHY does our health insurance keep getting canceled?!?!?!? This is the second time we have received a lovely letter from our health insurance company stating that our coverage ended LAST MONTH. *sigh* Now to be fair, in reality this means little. Any expenses occurred that should be covered is the liability of the university as J has a contract for said coverages, but really it is the mere IDEA that we are INSURANCELESS. ugh. J totally took care of it today and well we *should* have coverage by tomorrow. *sigh* There goes going for the sugar test. *&%$*%$*$*&%$*& This system is so STUPID! (no cut to Americans, you are all so sweet but really what is up with this private health insurance it is terrible!)
