Mickey’s Halloween Treats!

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Pic of the Day ~ The Family (with a bear) at Disneyland ~

The Family (with a bear) at DisneylandEvery year, Disneyland hosts Mickey’s Halloween Treats. The California Adventure side of the park gets closed and a predetermined amount of ticket holders, get dressed up, to enjoy some trick or treating, rides and entertainment. When tickets went on sale a few months ago I knew we had to go! (to see more pictures from last night, head over to our Flickr page!)
We were planning on meeting some friends there, but sadly they never called to meet up. Despite the non-connection with friends, the three of us had a wonderful time! There were Treat Stations set up all over the park, handing out goodies! hehe Even J and I were able to Trick or Treat! It was totally fun!

The park was so amazingly decorated, with cobwebs, Mickey Ghosts and pumpkins, then the creepy and fun Halloween music playing in the background. A lot of the characters were out and photo opts were set up, however we did not bother to wait in line for that. Becca gets too freaked out by them anyway! She did however get to meet the Wicked Queen from Snow White, she was pretty impressive!

Becca now understands the word “Spooky” and keeps saying the mountain is Spoooky! hehe The mountain had a spider web projected onto it, so it indeed was spooky! She also totally gets the candy side of Halloween now! We have enough candy for a family of 12! J is so excited!

Last night J & I realized that it was 7 years to the day that he asked me to marry him. It was a really sweet moment, as we reminisced about the Halloween Party we attended at the University and how that was the time he decided to finally pop the question. I am in awe that it was that long ago! This year we will celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary!

As some of you have discovered, Becca has slipped from her number one spot in the Halloween Costume Contest. I was so bummed when I saw she was in second place. Today is the last time I am going to obsessively, beg you to vote, so Please Please Please Go Vote For Rebecca The White Bunny! We may just be able to pull ahead! Thank you so much for putting up with my weird Mom competitiveness the last few days! It was like I was possessed!

Only Two More Days …

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Pic of the Day ~ Cute Little Princess ~

Cute Little PrincessThere are only two more days to vote for Rebecca the White Bunny over at Real Savvy Moms. The lead Becca had over the weekend has been reduced to a mere one vote, so I really need your help in securing the First Place Spot! I am so excited! You can see the results here.

I have knitting like a mad woman, however staying in a little comfort zone. I am trying a couple new things that are driving me crazy. Knitting with 3 or more needles is just plain frustrating! Add a few Yarn over, slip a roos and purl I have a head spinning like crazy. I am determined to get it though. In the meantime, I found this movie to be HILARIOUS! Any crafter/knitter must appreciate the theme!

Please Please Please don’t forget to vote for Becca! We all so appreciate all your support!

Trick or Treat

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

Pic of the Day ~ Becca and Ryan (trying to get two kids to smile and look at the camera …. Impossible!) ~

Becca and RyanBecca had the opportunity to get a little trick or treat practice in last night at our local marketplace. They had a costume contest (I think the spaceships won!), as well as every business (around 30 or so) had candy to hand out to the little ones.

There had to be at least 500 kids there, it was insanity! At first Becca was quite intimidated, then we spotted her pal Ryan and hung out with his family most of the afternoon. Becca totally scored a ton of loot (many things she will NEVER be allowed to eat), and tried a few tasty treats once we home.

She was so polite, saying “Thank You” even when I did not have to remind her. At one point there was a lady, beautifully dressed up as a cat, that scared the heck out of Becca. Poor thing jumped out of her skin and was so rattled. The lady felt so bad, and worked at making friends with Becca for 10 minutes! Becca had a great time and it now has prepared for the big day!

I did some sewing yesterday as well! I finished a knitting needle holder and once I buy some ribbon I will take a picture for you! It turned out “ok”, a little bulky and large for me, but maybe once I have more needles I will feel differently.

The second day of voting was AWESOME. Becca is now in FIRST place, but that is no reason to slack! She is only ahead by 4 votes, so keep voting daily. Oh, and Thank you to the my friends and family whom I have spammed and will continue to do so, you guys are great! I solemnly swear never to forward a lame joke, now that I have abused the mass email power!

Please vote once again for Rebecca the white bunny! To see the ranking, there is a menu on the left, top corner, click “See All Entries”, then if you click the circle for “Most Popular” you will see Becca in first place! Or hmm try this link it may work. Thank you so much for voting for Becca everyday! You guys so totally rock!

Pic of the Day ~ Becca in her Bean Box (hehe jumping in even before she was out of her PJ’s!) ~

Becca in her Bean BoxRemember that contest I entered Becca in? Well I forgot to mention I need you guys to head over there DAILY to vote! She is in FOURTH place at the moment and I just know we can do better than that! I totally feel like i am gong to have a Tanya Harding moment! haha! J keeps saying if I am this competitive now, Becca needs to be careful what she shows interest in. It is weird though, I am not usually crazy competitive, but it is my kid! So please try to vote daily till Halloween! Only one vote per day so make it count by voting daily! Thanks so much to everyone that has taken the time to vote, it is nice to know we have your support!

A Mom from the club sent out an email last week offering a double stroller for FREE! I emailed back, however it was already spoken for. I was bummed but eh I had to try. Later that day the Mom emailed me and said the other Mom was “thinking” about having another baby and she had decided it should go to someone else.

The stroller is in pristine condition, like you can barely tell it was used at all! Now we need a van for the kids and the stroller! hehe! I did however figure out a way to get it into the trunk, but then we have no other room! I feel so lucky that I received such an amazing stroller. It is beautiful and will totally come in handy with two little ones! I totally sent the mom a thank you note today for her generosity!

Now for a Becca moment…This morning we were having breakfast together and she says:

“Baby in Mommy’s Tummy”
“Yes Becca there is a baby in Mommy’s tummy” I mumble eating my toast.
“Baby is talking to Becca!” Becca exclaims.
“Oh! What is the Baby saying to Becca?” I reply trying not to giggle.
She whispers “Rebecca” really quietly!

It was so cute and on the creepy side! J & I burst out laughing then I added that the baby will know their big sister’s name because we talk about Becca so much! It was so cute! Becca’s sentences are getting more and more amazing. She now knows her ABC’s although she selectively will recite them for you, depending on her mood. She is also showing a great interest in words and letters when reading books! It is so exciting to experience this with her!

Big plans for the pre-Halloween weekend?

pssst please vote!

Pic of the Day ~ Becca’s First Halloween (see cute eh? VOTE! Please)

Becca's First HalloweenI entered Becca’s first Halloween photo into a Halloween contest over at Real Savvy Moms! I totally want you to head over there and vote for Rebecca! She is the cute bunny! There is a $100 gift certificate from Walmart at stake and darn it she is the cutest! So go Vote, Please, Pretty Please!!! Please!

Yesterday I finally finished a project I had been working on for Becca. I was at a friend’s house and she had a rubbermaid container with pinto beans in it. The kids loved it! Becca was especially fond of climbing right in and digging holes, filling containers and that sort of thing. Well over a month ago I bought a slide under the bed container (my friend’s was taller and therefore less beans became liberated on her floor) so that we could store it away when not in use. Finally yesterday we bought the pinto beans! Becca has been LOVING the bean box. She takes her animals, dinosaurs and little dolls in there, containers, her shoes?, and happily plays for over an hour! Great inexpensive, indoor sand box!

I also am a little more prepared for Christmas this year! Every time I read Marz’s blog I panic, trying to fight the urge to run out to the mall that very instant! Then I look at the stash. See I have found some awesome things (for awesome prices) for Becca the last few months. All of which I have been saving for Christmas. Yesterday I spent the entire nap-time (over two hours!) wrapping and well watching Buffy on DVD(I am on a big marathon while Becca sleeps!). J purchased the entire show (all seven seasons) for me a few Christmas’s ago. I have watched them like 5 times. Yes I am a dork. Anyway, all of Becca’s presents are wrapped as well as a few for friends. It is hard to be psyched for Christmas, when Halloween has yet to arrive and there is so much that is to happen between now and then!

This morning we are off to get new tires. The last few days, I have noticed the car doing a little shaking and riding rough. J was freaking thinking cv-joints, however it appears it is just the tread being gone form the tires (hmmm guess I should have noticed that eh?) Bonus we are getting the tires installed at Costco so we get to shop while we wait!!!

Ok now if you didn’t go before, please go vote for Becca in the Halloween contest! Thanks you guys so totally rock!
