The LA County Fair and the Rest
Pic of the Day ~ Becca and Ryan hugging in the quonset ~
On Thursday, Becca and I had the opportunity to attend the LA County with our good friends Ryan and JoAnne! I was not sure what to expect from a big city, very metro, not at all country, county fair. I have never attended a county fair period. So for my Canadian readers, the LA County Fair is like a Stampede & Exhibition, without the rodeo and cowboy element. Imagine attending the Calgary Stampede (or Lethbridge or Medicine Hat) without the presence of any cowboys, farmers or anyone country at all. Add a some of the cleanest cows, goats, sheep and other random farm animals I have ever seen and you have the LA County Fair! I swear they spent as much time polishing and cleaning those animals as they did anything else!
Becca adored spending the day with Ryan and seeing all the animals. She talked with the cows, sheep and roosters. We had the opportunity to check out a bee hive, something we have discussed due to her love for Winne-the-Pooh. Definitely a great way to spend the day with your toddler!
There were a few comments that made me giggle. You see, most people in the region only see farm animals up close and personal at the Fair. One gentleman was walking with his
son and said totally seriously, “Look a PIG!” Dudes the animal he was pointing at … calf! I am not joking! At the sheep exhibit there was this sign, which just makes me sad.
My head is still spinning at the visual of our little bear dancing on the screen! The little one was so active! Becca was always sleeping when we had the chance to see her, once she had the hiccups, that was it. This one was dancing in there! Now I am proudly, reluctantly wearing my maternity shirts!
We are off to Ikea today!!!! Gosh I adore that place! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Oh and we have the beach photos, so I will make the time to prepare them for posting!

That’s hilarious! (and funny that you put a link to quonset, but probably necessary…)
Glad you all enjoyed it!
Woo hoo - mat clothes!
LOL @ the Gucci Sweaters sign!
glad you had fun at the fair! can’t wait to see the beach pictures!
Most of my maternity clothes are way cuter than my regular clothes - maybe it’s because I hid better in them? I dunno… I do think maternity is cute on most women, though! (In a non-creepy kind of way), teehee.
Becca is so cute, I love her glasses! I wonder if they’d ever do a county fair in Philly? Probably not. Residents are weird here..
I love the pic today. They look so cute together! Nothing beats a day at the fair. Hope you got to eat something ooeeyy gooeeeyy too!
Love IKEA!!! Have fun.
I love the Gucci sweater sign.
Sounds like a great time. I loled about the pig too!
I love that picture of Becca!
That pig story is just sad! I remember a friend of mine visiting my parent’s farm and just being convinced that every cow with horns was a bull. Yes. It’s the horns that make them male.
Have a good Ikea trip!
Sounds like LA to me! Haha!
the fair sounds like fun! look, a PIG! LOL–that would have been me. sad but, true
Becca & Ryan looked so cute together. Lol. Hey, it’s time to enjoy the maternity shirts & dresses.Post pix, ok?
I am so glad everything went well at your appt.!
The county fairs here aren’t the same as they were many years ago either. *Sigh* I miss those days.
“Look! A pig!”
I am rolling over here.
Wish I was there too! Looks like a lot of fun.
Cheers and hugs to Becca!
We were in California last week–and I remember asking the same questions about the Orange Co. Fair Grounds when we drove past it–is there anything agricultural left? I was assured that there was. Hope your visit was as good as ours.
My Monday Memories is up.
The Gucci sweater sign has me shaking me head! Hope you had a successful Ikea trip.
