W00t Making up for lost time!

Friday, September 29th, 2006

Pic of the Day ~ Becca chatting on the phone with DaddyBecca chatting on the phone with Daddy ~

Thanks so much for the get better wishes. It worked, I am still stuffy but the pain and pressure are gone!!! Weeeee! I am a new woman!!

The last few days Becca and I have been making up for lost time. We cleaned toys (ugh you never really know how much your kid has till you clean it all!), Becca swam in her kiddie pool, we have shopped and went to the park! hehe!

I had to get a couple more maternity T’s. My Dad will be here in a week!!!! He is leaving Canada on Monday and driving down. I am so excited! So Becca and I met JoAnne and Ryan at the park this morning for an hour then hit Target (so going to miss that store when we move back to Canada) then the mall! Becca was an angel ALL day, I mean we did not have the stroller and I dragged that girl from JC Penny to Motherhood Maternity! We had a blast though!

I even got my hair cut this evening! Just a trim but ahhh it feels good. I am terrible and never go often enough to get the hair managed.

I have a busy weekend cleaning and preparing for Dad’s arrival. I am hoping to go Apple picking on Sunday but we will see how J feels. He may be coming down with the dreaded cold!

I participating in a blog exchange this weekend, so be prepared to read an argument that I would argue the other side! I did not want you all to be in shock! hehe! Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Big plans?

I am calling in Sick!

Pic of the Day ~ Becca at the LA County Fair ~

Becca at the LA County FairYup that’s right, you read that correctly. I am taking the day off and I am just going to be sick. I am going to stay in bed, blow my nose constantly, watch bad daytime television and just be sick.

I am NOT going to have a snotty, sick toddler hanging on me, whining “Moooommmmmyyyyyy”! No one is going to need me. Supper is not being cooked and darn it the floor is staying unvaccummed!

No potty breaks, no stories, JUST ME ME ME ME ME! The laundry is going to pile up, there will be no painting, and lunch forget about it!

Wait. Stay at home Moms, cannot call in sick. There is no time off, no one to cover their shift and no compensation for missed time. Instead we pull our sick, snotty noses out of bed, suffer through the day with the help of our good friends the Wonder Pets and Madagascar.

J took Becca with him to work this morning. He hooked her up with some videos to watch on the computer while he ran some NMR’s and did other chemistry things. All the while, I toss and turn attempting to sleep, while breathing through my mouth and blowing my over pressured nose every 4 minutes.

Today was day 2 of sick hell. I am not a great get sick person to begin with, but having no drugs at my disposal and a toddler that is on the mend from the same cold was just too much this morning. Thankfully J has the type of job that he could take the kid for a while. We are so far and isolated from family that is not an option and friends, it is hard to ask you know?!?! They have their own things going on and my kid is still a little sick, I can’t be sending her to someone else’s house to share the plague cold.

I think I am on the up swing. I showered this afternoon and that made a world of difference. It is just a head cold that has not moved to my chest so I am alright there. UGH! A week and my Dad arrives from Canada, I only have a MILLION things to get done!

As a side note I am done the knitting part of Becca’s sweater!!!! I still have to block it (esentially hand wash it and shape it) but I am a little nervous since I have never done this before. Once that is done, I sew the buttons on then I will get Becca to model for you!

I am off to drink tea and snuggle up … How do you feel better with a cold (and no drugs dudes the Little Bear is happy without them!)?

Pic of the Day ~ Becca at the Beach ~

Becca at the Beach

As promised here are some of the photos from the beach portraits we had done. To see more head over to our Flickr account.

Becca woke up at 2am Sunday morning chattering away. Unfortunately this was not a good sign. This was a sign that she was coming down with a cold. So the last few days we have had sick kid *sigh*  It is just a cold, but for a toddler feeling under the weather is the end of the world as they know it.

Now I am feeling a tickle in my throat and I am getting cranky. Yup I am coming down with the same cold. Grrrrr!

But hey how about those beach photos … eh? Nice! I really fell in love with them and that is not something I do with pictures of myself often! The number to the amazing Photographers at Quick Shot Studio is (951) 682-3535, so if you are in Southern California, you know who to call!

Family Pictures at the Beach

I am off to drink a ton of tea and hope beyond hope this coming down with a cold feeling goes away!

The LA County Fair and the Rest

Pic of the Day ~ Becca and Ryan hugging in the quonset ~

Becca and Ryan hugging in the quonsetOn Thursday, Becca and I had the opportunity to attend the LA County with our good friends Ryan and JoAnne! I was not sure what to expect from a big city, very metro, not at all country, county fair. I have never attended a county fair period. So for my Canadian readers, the LA County Fair is like a Stampede & Exhibition, without the rodeo and cowboy element. Imagine attending the Calgary Stampede (or Lethbridge or Medicine Hat) without the presence of any cowboys, farmers or anyone country at all. Add a some of the cleanest cows, goats, sheep and other random farm animals I have ever seen and you have the LA County Fair! I swear they spent as much time polishing and cleaning those animals as they did anything else!

Becca adored spending the day with Ryan and seeing all the animals. She talked with the cows, sheep and roosters. We had the opportunity to check out a bee hive, something we have discussed due to her love for Winne-the-Pooh. Definitely a great way to spend the day with your toddler!

There were a few comments that made me giggle. You see, most people in the region only see farm animals up close and personal at the Fair. One gentleman was walking with hisSheep Sign son and said totally seriously, “Look a PIG!” Dudes the animal he was pointing at … calf! I am not joking! At the sheep exhibit there was this sign, which just makes me sad.

My head is still spinning at the visual of our little bear dancing on the screen! The little one was so active! Becca was always sleeping when we had the chance to see her, once she had the hiccups, that was it. This one was dancing in there! Now I am proudly, reluctantly wearing my maternity shirts!

We are off to Ikea today!!!! Gosh I adore that place! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Oh and we have the beach photos, so I will make the time to prepare them for posting!

Pic of the Day ~ Our Little Teddy Bear

Little Bear

Finally Friday has arrived. I have never been so anxious in my life (and I know anxiety!) I ended up drinking too much water (that is a first they usually have to do an internal), so after waiting and waiting (the tech was 20 minutes behind), she had me empty my bladder completely so she could see. Then she had to request that I stop shaking!!! I was shaking so bad she could not do her measurements. Finally she said she was going to get J & Becca … I looked at her with begging eyes for some clue if the baby was ok … “Oh yes I found a heart beat” w00t w00t! I totally cried till Becca and J came in and then we got to see the little Bear (he/she totally looks like a little teddy bear in there don’t you think?) The heartbeat was amazing to see and I am so very happy. J is overjoyed there is ONE healthy looking baby in there and Becca keeps proclaiming “Baby in Mommy’s tummy!”

Becca and I went to the LA County Fair yesterday, however today is just about Little Bear …. I am so overwhelmed with relief and happiness, thank you for all your support and comments, lying there I totally did not feel alone … thanks.
