Pic of the Day ~ Becca and Grandpa Reading a Good Book!

We got up early and finished the cleaning then headed to go get my Dad at the airport. J came along (w00t!) We arrived a little early so we toured the internationally terminal. Finally it was time to meet my Dad!! Becca guessed before he got off the plane that it would be her Grandpa that would be arriving. On the way I had to clarify that we were not going on the airplane, rather someone was coming off the plane to visit!

We went for a drive through Beverly Hills to Hollywood, to see Hollywood Blvd. It was totally cool yet shorter than my Canadian imagination had thought. The we had to introduce my Dad to In-N-Out Burger!

Once home, Becca had the opportunity to play with her Grandpa, read and we even went for a walk. Becca is extremely excited to take her Grandpa to Disneyland tomorrow!! I so need some sleep, it is going to be crazy the next few days!!!

Well it is suppose to be 106 F tomorrow. How is that for Welcome to California in the summer for my Dad!?!?! hehe! Obviously I am very excited to see him!! We are not telling Becca and letting her be surprised!! hehe!

After we pick up my Dad we are going to cruise around LA a little before we head back. J might be going into work tomorrow since I am forcing him to play hooky Monday & Tuesday.

Today J fixed some car stuff, then we went shopping at my favorite outlet mall . I needed some more cheapy T’s and tank tops . Even J and Becca purchased a few things! We went to the mall to search for a new pair of runners because well I am a crappy mom. We went to Disneyland last week and Becca wore the cutest sandals, however they caused her a blister!!! And now she has a sore there that bleeds when rubbed!! Oh the kicker I did not notice for DAYS! Poor kid, all in the name of fashion. Now Becca has some styling runners that will not cause her pain and hopefully will last the summer. Geez the kids grow fast eh?

Becca got to stay up late tonight, so we could hit Trader Joe’s and Von’s for the essentials. Hopefully she sleeps in again tomorrow (w00t 6:45am this morning)! If not we still ahve a little housekeeping then off to LAX!! I am so excited!

We got our hotel all booked for Monday night, I am getting so excited about my Dad’s arrival. See J & I were planning on taking Becca to Disneyland Monday, then stay the night and go Tuesday as well. Kind of a farewell to Disneyland till the fall since we are blocked out for the summer. Well now that my Dad is coming, he will be joining us!!! JoAnne has this uber cool way of getting cheap rates on great hotels. We are staying less than a mile form Disneyland for $45/room!!!

Becca and I had a swim date all played this afternoon, however the other mom fell sick and had to bail . Instead JoAnne, Mary and Ryan came over for a swim then ordered pizza. Ryan is a great little swimmer!! It was nice to watch the kids enjoy each other’s company and play the evening away. JoAnne and Mary are so the best couple friends!!!

I am looking forward to a quiet night, snuggling with J….then hopefully clean this weekend and two more sleeps and my Dad is here!!!!!!!

So Ten Random Weird Facts … Here it goes …

1. I have had 5 different body piercings at different times in my life (not including traditional ear piercings).

2. I am left with only one body piercing now.

3. I have had two brothers named Jason and then married A DIFFERENT Jason . (a half brother and a step-brother)

4. I used to trim my toe nails super short in fear I would get ingrown toe nails.

5. Now I leave them longer and only file them when need be.

6. I thought I was too cool for school after one semester of college.

7. After looking forever for a job, I ended up working in the by-product section of a meet packing plant.

8. By the next semester I was back in college.

9. My cat is overweight, however no one ever believes me when I say he is big boned too!
10. I enjoy cheesey teen movies and tv shows and watch them all the time.

I want to say that yesterdays post seemed really negative. Since March I have really made the effort to enjoy California. Becca and I have embraced our surroundings and have traveled and enjoyed all there is to see and do here. It has been a rough go here, and I am so looking to the rainbow after the storm. I am hoping beyond hope that once we get back to Canada we will no longer be living in a state of constant chaos and there will be a calmness to our lives that is greatly missed. I never want life to be boring, yet at times like there a little boredom would be welcomed!

Some random thoughts….

• There is a spider cemetery in our backyard. It is really creepy and I made J clean them up! At least they are gone!
• Becca said “Becca my last name” today!!! It was so cool, even though she forgot the first letter of our last name, it was still cool.
• She also said I love you!!! Melted my heart!
• The bookstore nearby had computer books 50%, I had to get some!

Last but so not least…..*drum roll please* My DAD is coming to visit us on Sunday until Thursday. He has to get so many miles in each month (he drives trains) and he did it early so he is flying down!!! w00t w00t!!! I am SO EXCITED.

Ok seriously I think we the soodz clan has had our fair share of crap ok? Karma, cosmos, God and Goddess can you please just give us a break? I know what you are thinking, well nothing was life threatening and we all made it out ok, but this is just getting frikin ridiculous!

Pre-moving to America we had it pretty good, sure there was mishaps but they were far and few between. Here we have been misdiagnosed, miscarried, been in a car accident, J has injured both feet & needed stitches on his finger, Becca has begun eye therapy, first with the doctor from hell, and now with an expert in the field, however we are still talking surgery and now the events from this week!

First Becca snapped the arm of her glasses. J has MacGyver’d the arm with red tape (to match in his man way) and a plastic stir stick, both purchased at the Laguna Beach hardware store. Second, J was HIT while walking ACROSS THE STREET, at the University by an mid-size SUV AND A SATURN ONE NO LESS!!!! Damn Saturns!

So please no more bad luck ok??? I really want our family to make it back to Canada with all our limbs, no broken bones and our sanity!!!

If anyone has any good luck charms, poems, totems that they can spare we would greatly appreciate it!

ps Becca’s glasses will remain taped until NEXT week when her new frame arrives at the eye doctor’s *sigh*

pss J was uninjured after being run down! The girl totally felt terrible. Luckily J spotted her coming, out his hands out and slide on top of her hood!! He has had to repeatedly reassure me he is not hurt and did talk to the police in case he feels pain later.

Oh …. Happy First Day of Summer!
